I've been a loyal fan of Leroy & Lewis since their early days as a food truck, through their transition to a brick-and-mortar location, and now with their well-deserved Michelin star recognition. As an FSU alum, I love seeing a fellow Nole making waves in the BBQ world but let's talk about the food! You truly can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but my top picks are the beef cheeks and the burger, both packed with incredible flavor. For sides, they offer a mix of classics and creative twists, from refried beans to the grain bowl salad and crispy beef fat chips. If you're feeling indulgent, don't skip the hog fat cornbread as it's a must-try.Their new location features a full bar with beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic options. If you're indulging, go for the Frozen Big Red Sangria as it's a standout. The space itself is modern and inviting, with plenty of seating across multiple rooms, plus a few dedicated parking spots.A heads-up: This place gets very busy, especially on weekends, so expect a wait. If you're after a weekly special, arrive early to avoid missing out.Aside from that, no complaints for Leroy & Lewis as it remains one of the best BBQ spots in town.

We arrived at 7pm on a Saturday night. Only 3 things on the menu were left: tri tip, chopped brisket and jalapeno cheddar chorizo and we ordered all 3 to try. Line was moving like snail slow. When got closer to getting the meat, we realized that there was only one person taking the order and one carving the meal and a cashier. These three guys didn't care for the world that there are people waiting for food! 1 star for service. The jalapeno cheddar chorizo was so salty and greasy. I only took half a bit. Then the chopped brisket had a nice smoke smell, but still very salty. The tri tip was the best part of our meats. It was tender and juicy. 2 star for this. The pickles and the onion were really good to pair with the meat. We did not get any bread. With this said we waited an hr for the meat die to poor staff management. I would not go back for this reason.

THE BIG: Located in the south Austin area, nestled right off of W stassney ln and Emerald forest drive. It's almost in a residential area. Parking is super tough with the lot filling up fast and relegated to street parking.THE BLACK AND WHITE: Gone is the bare lot with umbrellas and benches, and hello new brick and mortar store. I came here with a couple of buddies from high school and even though we got here early, we still had to wait 30 minutes to get our food. The brisket here is ungodly delicious with a great bark. They have a couple of options on how you want to approach the eating. Theres a 2 meat / 2 side option and a 1 meat / 2 side option. I went with the two meat, two side with brisket and beef cheek as my meats. Sides consisted of kale caesar salad, and choripapas. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, spent around $72 for two meal platters which is a great deal and amazing for a one Michelin star place. Waiting in line does suck, especially if you're in a hurry.

This is so so good. If you love barbecue this is a spot for you. The line is LONG (we waited over an hour) but it's worth it. The beef cheeks were definitely a standout for me but honestly everything was delicious. for sides I loved the kale Caesar slaw and the kimchi. Both offered a nice compliment to the meats. The cornbread was VERY sweet-it's kind of like a dessert but it was good just unexpected. Everything we had here was amazing. There are no wrong choices at this spot

We went right at 11:00AM waited 1.5 hours and parked in the neighborhood on next street over Ribs was sold out on Saturday Beef cheeks was my favorite 10/10 flavor and melted in my mouth, I enjoyed it more than the brisket Portioned and cost was priced right, just enough to get you full but not overly stuffed! Glad I was able this check this off my Austin list!

Wow, I'm blown away! This was hands down some of the best brisket I've ever had--tender, juicy, and melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The sides were just as impressive. I waited about an hour, but it was absolutely worth it. They're constantly busy, which is always a great sign of top-tier barbecue. I especially loved the creative side options--I tried the kale slaw and chori-papa, and they balanced each other out beautifully. But the real star? That brisket. Simply unforgettable!

The food is really great. They really go the distance to butcher their meats, dry age and present a great product. The drink program is fantastic. They have a Michelin star so you know it has to be good. The staff is super friendly and they are happy to show you around the menu. This place is POPULAR. Get ready to wait in line...but it's worth it.

I was really looking forward to trying LeRoy and Lewis since they received recognition from Michelin. First attempted to go on a weekend and the line was very long and they were out of Flank Steak. Left and came back on Thursday afternoon and they were out of briscuit and pulled pork. So I tried the chicken fried steak special with mashed potatoes and a roll. The gravy was very creamy but had too much black pepper in it, which is saying something because I love black pepper. I also tried the sausage with cheese in it along with 2 types of BBQ sauce. I would go back to try other types of BBQ, but now it is just too much of a logistical challenge to find a time with shorter lines where the meat is not sold out.

We were back at LeRoy and Lewis BBQ this week extending my birthday celebration. My brother drove from San Antonio to take me to lunch at La Barbecue. The lines were too long at La Barbecue, so we opted for LeRoy & Lewis BBQ. It was bit more crowded today, however, we went at 12:30 PM v 11:30 am previously. The line was to the back door. Just last week we walked right in. Fortunately, we were not at the end of the line and the line moved pretty quickly. I had the exact same meal as last week - iron flat, beef cheeks, kale Caesar slaw and Frito pie. However, this time I had the berry cobbler with ice cream. Yum to the nth degree!!! My brother had beef cheeks, Pork Hop sausage, kale Caesar slaw and Frito pie. My brother shared his Pork Hop sausage with me and it was quite delicious - large chunks of meat with the flavor of venison sausage. Never had sausage quite like this one. He also ordered separately hog fat cornbread with squash butter and candied pepitas. First, hog fat cornbread does not conjure up a mouth-watering image in my mind. OMG...when the cornbread was ready, I literally thought I had died and gone to heaven. The cornbread looked grayish in color with offsetting yellow squash butter (nice contrast). It almost tasted like dessert. Not sure of what pepitas were until I looked it up. A pepita is harvested from specific hulless pumpkin varieties. To me, they tasted like candied pecans. Net, net that cornbread was the bomb diggity!!!My brother was not quite as enamored with LeRoy & Lewis while we were having lunch. When we talked later that evening he was eating his leftovers, so I think he liked the food more than he was letting on. He was surprised that a BBQ restaurant did not have beans and potato salad and only ribs on the weekend. We sat on the north side of the restaurant where it was nice and quiet.Service was great like last time. I certainly understand why they earned their Michelin 1 star!Love, love, love LeRoy & Lewis!!!

If you're looking for something truly unique in the world of barbecue, Leroy and Lewis is the spot. They call themselves "new school barbecue," and that's exactly what you get--an inventive, fusion-style twist on classic Texas BBQ. With a Michelin star under their belt, my expectations were sky-high, and they mostly delivered.I got the two-meat plate with fatty brisket, pulled whole hog, kimchi, and kale slaw. The brisket? Absolutely phenomenal. It's some of the softest, most tender, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth brisket I've ever had. Perfectly smoked, seasoned to perfection, and just packed with flavor. It's worth the trip for that alone. The pulled whole hog was good, not quite on the same level as the brisket, but still solid. A touch on the dry side, but the mustardy, spicy sauce and pickled onions really brought it together. The sides are where the fusion really shines. The kimchi and kale slaw were fresh, tangy, and added a nice contrast to the richness of the meat. Everything felt balanced, thoughtful, and just high quality. On top of that, they're all about sustainably sourced, local, free-range, grass-fed meats, which is something you don't always see at this price point--$23 for a two-meat plate is an incredible value for what you're getting.Add in the friendly, welcoming service, and this place easily earns five stars. If you're into creative barbecue and appreciate attention to detail, this place is a must-visit.
