My first taco truck I went to when I moved to Austin and it is still one of my top taco trucks in Austin. There can be a line depending on the time you come, but it moves quickly. They have a variety of meat cuts. My favorites are their cabeza, buche, and campechano. The only cons for Las Trancas, their burritos are not very good and their Al Pastor is very mid/often dry.I miss the days when each taco was less than $2 per taco but gotta accept the changes and cost of living in Austin. If I recall correctly it may be slightly cheaper if you pay with cash than card but don't quote me on it.

I've tried out Las Trancas twice and was underwhelmed both times. When I went most recently, I ordered a quesadilla. Their menu shows that they offer veggie quesadillas but when I asked about it, they said oh it's just cheese and the veggies come on the side. I believe they were referring to the tomato and salad that comes with every quesadilla. I decided on the chicken. It was pretty bland, the cheese wasn't melted through, and the chicken didn't seem completely fresh. While the food wasn't terrible, it wasn't great. There are much better options nearby.

Very nice staff and good tacos, and a very convenient location in East Austin. I'd say that this spot upstages many other taco spots nearby in both quality and price. However, I thought that the overall quality was slightly below other Austin taco spots. and so I wouldn't necessarily seek Las Trancas out unless I was in the area. The Campechano was a bit underseasoned, and the tortillas were a bit too dry and crumbly.

I came here with a coworker because we were both craving tacos. I ended up getting 3 tacos (2 chicken, 1 vegetarian), but preferred the chicken over the veggie. All of my tacos were packed full, but super messy to eat since the tortillas are so small. Price was reasonable; it was like $3/$3.25 each I think. Can of soda was $1.50.They have a covered area in the parking lot that you can sit and eat. Lots of birds hanging out in the area, hoping for you to drop something though!

Best tacos while we were in Austin! Savory, fresh, hot, and affordable. Plenty of seating during a weekday lunch shift. There's free parking. Service is friendly and quick.

YUM!!! Solid street tacos done right in a casual setting. We got tripe, cabeza, and lengua. The fried bits of tripe were some of the best I have had and all the meats were tender. The Cabeza isn't as good as some other places I have had and the tacos overall are a little bit expensive. Also, they don't have a salsa bar (they provide salsa verde but you have to ask for the salsa rojo) nor do they give radishes or grilled peppers/cebollas like they do in California but I would definitely recommend this place.

The carnitas were a bit oily and the pastor a bit dry, but overall solid tacos. We had an easy time parking but I can see it being though during busy times, the lot is small and you may not always have good luck with street parking.

Came here for the first time, wait time wasn't bad. There are tables outside and a small lot for parking. Got the Barbacoa torta-good thing I did, because it was waaaay bigger than the 3 tacos my boyfriend got. We weren't used to seeing tacos so small. Austin has a lot of great taco spots and unfortunately, this meal didn't wow us. The torta was ok, but the barbacoa was not as juicy as I would've liked. Sauces for the tacos are good, and a little spicy.

What's not to love about this place?? Well lit food truck with a friendly counter person that quickly switches between English and Spanish to catch whatever you throw at her. We've tried almost everything on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. This place serves the OG locals (a dying group) as well as the post yoga (shhh! don't tell on them) gentrifiers. The food is highly seasoned so anyone with GERD might want to ask them to hold the cebollita or go easy on the salsa. Don't forget your Jarrito with your taquitos. Your meal is not complete without one! Note: parking can be tight. Leave your monster SUV at home or park on a nearby street and walk over.

Saturday 7/27/2024I made a DoorDash pick up order and got a pastor taco $3.25, asada taco $3.25, and barbacoa quesadilla $13. The service was straightforward and easy. - The pastor taco and asada taco were both fairly priced and pretty solid tacos. I liked the pastor taco a bit more than the asada but both are worth it.- The barbacoa quesadilla comes with vegetables (lettuce, tomato, jalapeño, and avocado), sour cream, and the side sauce. The quesadilla was alright but I wasn't too crazy about the barbacoa. The side sauce that came with the items was SPICY.Overall, the tacos at las trancas are well priced and decent. If you're ever in the mood for some tacos then you should check this place out.
