La Posada Mexican Restaurant

Easily one of our favorite new Tex Mex spots in Austin. We were randomly south yesterday to take our daughter roller skating and just found this place on Google and took a leap of faith to go and check it out. So glad we did!It's in a stip mall but still manages to have a mom-and-pop no frills ambience that we enjoy (although three TVs in the dining space?? Ugh). Margaritas, frozen and rocks, are excellent because they're not cloying and they are strong and it's nice that you can get the big ones...! Complimentary salsa is spicy and fresh-tasting. We also got the "Cindy's Queso" with black beans and avocado, and just: yum. For mains, our daughter got her standard cheese quesadilla plate, but the tortilla was toasted nicely and there was a good amount of cheese in it, as well as beans and rice on the sides. The pollo caldo was delicious: so hot with plenty of veggies and chicken, and positively showered with cilantro. Yes, it needed a bit of salt, but no complaints, and the corn tortillas on the side felt homemade. The avocado relleno was a unique spin. We got it with steak, which wasn't the best we've ever had, but the dish was good overall, and they are using a different kind of rice than the standard stuff you see about town (it's better here). Our server was not the warmest person but she was super efficient and everything came out hot. La Posada is pricier than most places of its ilk around Austin, but we feel that the quality was there and as though we've found a hidden gem in Austin. We would definitely make the drive across town to go back. Four enthusiastic stars!

L ordered mole Enchiladas and I had pork tamales with a puff beef taco. The rice was excellent and the beans good. Our entrees were outstanding! We started with Margaritas that were well made. Our server was attended and friendly. The interior was nicely appointed. We will return.

Perfect neighborhood mexican restaurant. We love the cheese enchiladas, menudo & stuffed avocado.

First time here decided to have Mexican food for lunch and decided in this cute place.Busy restaurant which means great food and it was just that Husband got the shrimp enchiladas w/tomatillo and he was amazed how tasty it was had the right blend of salt and tart from the tomatillos, shrimp was cooked perfectly- it was so good he brought it up 4 hrs later I got the carnitas plate the rice and beans so tasty I was disappointed with the carnitas it was so dry I think it was the way it was cut into cubes- will not be ordering carnitas again The standout was the chips and tortilla's it was the best

This bar has a fantastic neighborhood vibe, and I always enjoy the atmosphere when I visit. The food is decent, but unfortunately, the margarita mix they use upsets my stomach each time.

We go here all the time for breakfast and lunch. The food is always awesome and the service is pretty good too!

Nice place with lots of friendly servers, we were driving around when my wife was asking me for a coffee since Starbucks is in the same shopping center, I told her what about to go into this place? And she was sure let's try it. The place is nice and clean and the atmosphere is great, the servers Melanie and Isabel were the best with suggestions. Great food and drinks. No need to drive to San Antonio anymore for food like this. I can't wait to go back to this place.

Family owned super friendly staff and reasonable prices. It's Tex Mex ( which I love!) we've been going for a few years now and it's gradually getting busier (good for them!) I do wish they'd open other one on William cannon in Eastern park, close to me and I'd put on anther 10 lbs as I'd eat there several times a week! Be prepared to exit around 20 mins on a Friday night at peak time around 7pm. it's well worth the wait. The frozen house Margarita is the best btw.

Frozen wild berry and the frozen pineapple margaritas are the best. Staff are always very good

Experience was better than last time.Interior was clean, no trash. 4 stars for interior.For service, only took 20 minutes to receive the food for all 7 of us, and staff was friendly. 4.5 stars for serviceFor the food, the tacos were delicious, fresh, and juicy. The beans and rice were also great, but can make me feel gassy. 4.5 stars for food.Overall rating: 4.3 stars
