La Gordibuena Taqueria

We went there for the first time today. Great service and neat, laid back atmosphere. We got guacamole and salsa - both were very good and fresh, not too spicy. Chips were homemade and great. My wife got a breakfast taco and said that it was the best one she's ever had. I got the pancake and egg meal. Scrambled eggs very good - not dry and good flavor. Bacon had a great taste - undercooked by my taste - I'll ask for crispy next time. Hash browns had great flavor - not just bland potatoes. Pancakes were ok - a little flat for me. All in all very good.

The service was good, prompt, and wait staff checked on us ensuring we had what we needed.The place is clean. It is not a top of the line restaurant, but a nice taco shack good enough for a taco stop.I think the food could have been better. It wasn't something that I would make a return trip for. I tried 3 different tacos and none were that appealing. I had the Al Pastor on corn tortilla, but it didn't have the kick to it that says "you got to love this". I also had chicharon and pulled pork, none of which I would recommend.My partner ordered some enchiladas. Since she is not a fan of beans and rice, we went with a la carte with just cheese enchiladas. We had some confusion on the sauce. It was either a red or green sauce. I tried to clarify to see if it was like a red chilli con carne, but she said it was a salsa over it. We then asked for simply a melted cheese sauce. What came was simply 3 tortillas with cheese in them and cheese over them. No appeal to them at all. They tasted alright, but again, it simply was a tortilla melt.Didn't think much of the meal, but when I got the bill I noted I was charged for an enchilada plate and asked why I was charged for the full plate when I only ordered the enchiladas. The response was that they charrge the full amount.That's my story and I doubt I will return.

This is my favorite Mexican spot in the hill country. I come at least once a week, if not 2-3 times a week. My husband is just as obsessed and begs for me to bring it home for dinner. The staff is all so friendly and attentive. If you want authentic Mexican food, this is the place. They also have some amazing prices and deals!Their burritos are top notch.

I recently tried this restaurant for the first time and I will absolutely be going back! I ordered the beef fajita burrito as well as extra gordibuena green salsa. I was pleasantly surprised that it tasted just like Taco Deli's Salsa Dona Do yourself a favor and check this place out. The burrito was one of the best that I've had!

Enjoyed the chicken flautas. A generous portion of crispy rolled corn tortillas with flavorful moist chicken tinga filling. The red and green salsas were also yummy.

A month or so ago I'm sitting at my desk and decided I wanted to check out an old Lakeway burger haunt. Get in my car and head over the Sandeez and realize somewhere in the back of my head I read that they had closed. Same ol' fellers in the parking lot with their classic Corvettes, Mustangs, etc and all were eating at the new establishment. Welcome to La Gordibuena! Simple order at the counter process; traditional border cuisine served in same old Sandeez digs.Tacos, Gorditas, and plates adorn the small menu. Yes, you can get a burger too. I intended to order Carne Guisada but ended up with Carne Asada. Nice portion of meat (very well done sadly), peppers, and onions. Refried beans were better than the veggie studded rice. Best part of the meal were the two sauces. Verde was traditional but the habanero was out this world hot and delicious. I wouldn't go back for the asada dish personally but I'd try something else paired those sauces! Flautas and breakfast options sounded great.

This place was Sandeez hamburger hut, that quickly turned into a Mexican restaurant. The decor is the same. Same picnic tables and umbrellas outside. Same tables and chairs inside. Even the engraved marker on the table honoring a gentleman that has since passed, left from when it was Sandeez, which is find very thoughtful. The menu is up on the wall, and you just read it and let the cashier know what you'd like. I ordered a burrito with fajita meat. Not sure what she said afterwards because she only spoke Spanish. And I only speak English. So I pointed to the menu what I ordered. She gave me a buzzer, and I sat down. Only took a few minutes for my buzzer to go off. I picked up my small tray and went back to my seat. The burrito is huge. I mean, I'm not eating the rest of the day huge! It was absolutely delicious. Crisp iceberg lettuce, crisp tomatoes. Lots of meat inside. A bit messy, but mess foods are usually the most tasty. I enjoyed every bite. Didn't realize how hungry I was. Will I go back, sure. When the temps drop a little more, I think sitting outside would be really nice.

Great tasting food and service was wonderful! 1st time here but definitely not the last. Barbacoa tacos were on point!!

Food is great and servers are nice, however one lady (she said she's the owner) is rude to customers. You may notice almost no customers dine there. Good thing there are so many alternative restaurants in the area.

Server was very nice and gave great recommendations. The food showed up very fast, and we were happy to find that we showed up for Taco Tuesday- tacos 10% off! Great prices. Their food tasted great.
