The cheese enchiladas are the perfect kind of cheesy. Perfectly melted and mild and almost melts in your mouth. Add a bit of salsa on for that perfect kick. The potato enchiladas are also very good with the chipotle sauce although I wish it had just a little more sauce.The restaurant is very charming like eating at your abuela's casa. No frills just smiles. They don't serve alcohol here so be ready to drink Mexican coke!Update: they are BYOB so the coke is going to be replaced by a six pack!

RUN DONT WALK!!! I love love love La Cocina ! I went twice in a row i just couldn't get enough. From the homey feeling in the establishment to the great customer service. The food is amazing and definitely made fresh and with nothing but love . I highly recommend !!!

This sweet converted house is a small bistro, but mighty! With a lovely lived in vibe. Their chicken mole special IS special...Exceptional sides in my opinion are the Nopales, and the Mango-Jicama Salad. Yes, their homemade tortillas are as great as their fab service. There is an additional parking lot in back.

The story of this lovely restaurant, La Cocina de Consuelo, is told in beautiful detail on their website, and today I had the opportunity to talk with Mahali, who told me about her Tia Letty and Tia Connie. "Tia Connie (Rodriguez) founded the restaurant in 2006, and in 2019 she started passing it over to Tia Letty (Garcia). Tia Letty passed away this past February in 2023 so it's just us now. We try to keep the recipes the same to carry on her traditions." The food is excellent, and the hand made tortillas, sheer perfection. Come for the breakfast burrito, and return for the lunch special -- don't miss the mango and jicama salad -- and take some tortillas and salsa home so you don't have to wait till your next visit!And as for her legacy, Tia Connie would be proud, for sure.

This place is my current best Mexican food i have had in austin so far. Everything was delicious and the service was great.

Same as I remember 6 years ago; absolutely DELICIOUS! Hands down the best enchiladas I've had in central Austin. Fresh ingredients and very flavorful. The waitress and owner were so so sweet and pleasant too! The ambiance felt like you've stepped in a warm little home to have lunch, so cute. It shouldn't have taken me this long to come back but I will be back SOON!

I am updating my review from four years ago and adding a star. Cucina de Consuelo has been consistently excellent. Thank goodness it made it through the pandemic. Migas, huevos rancheros, burritos, everything is always solidly good and delicious. It's become a go to place for a couple of friends and myself. The back porch is always nice to sit on. There's a friendly vibe and I'm really glad they've added Horchata to their menu.I'll give it a star just for how happy it makes me to walk in the door.A star for the friendliness?A star for the food.A star for the relaxed ambience.I'll even give it a star for not having Wi-Fi and keeping your attention on the food and present Company.There's parking in the back which makes things a lot easier.I only hope this review doesn't make it so crowded that I can't get in anymore.

A hidden gem! Even this old white lady freaks they have exceptional Mexican food. They also catered my daughters wedding a couple of years ago. They're enchiladas are amazing!
