I graciously view that online ordering is out of order so I choose to make a phone-call to this dear establishment to place an order in hopes to taste a supple Mexican meal. When the phone is answered by staff we are immediately cussed out in Spanish! Confused, we let them know we'd like to place an order. The woman says she will call us back in 5 minutes and hung up on us, never returning our call. Perhaps the food is delightful but we will never know due to their stomach churning service , we would never make a second attempt. Cheers!

Not located on S. Congress anymore... they are on Ben White Hwy... a few blocks away before one gets to the Burger King on the feeder going East.Good food, service, and staff!Very tasty and fast breakfast... my barometer for Tex-Mex breakfast are Huevos Ala Mexicana... great taste and value!

Pretty sizable portions a a decent price. Food is pretty good for the cost. Cute Mexican decor and lots variety of authentic Mexican dishes. This is a hidden gem one the few left in Austin.

Definitely my go to Mexican restaurant on the south side. It is inexpensive and the good is delicious. I have tried it several time already and it has not disappointed. One minor detail however, they only serve beer and no cocktails or wine, other than that highly recommend. The staff of lovely and the quality of service is outstanding, two thumbs up

A local recommendation when asking for Mexican food but definitely not Tex-Mex style but more of a SoCal type. The employees are nice and may not understand my broken Spanish but they also speak English really well. The service is somewhat slow but that means food is made to order. Authentic food from breakfast options, to seafood and even Micheladas. Party of 12 was a bit much but fit us between 3 tables but there are booth options.

Tried the caldo de res today and it was amazing. Tastes like it had been stewing forever and wonderful deep beef broth flavor. It also came with a good amount of beef as well. A must try and a definite go back for dish.

I've been eating at Chapala for years and am a little embarrassed I haven't taken the time to write a review yet!Solid, authentic Mexican at a great price. My favorite salsa in town (made in-house. Not the tomato paste type, but rather the fresh veggie type -- to be clear, I recognize that the paste type is a valid style, it's just not my preference). No black beans offered, but their charro beans are legit.Their shrimp soup has replaced Dong Nai's egg noodle as my favorite in town. Mexican style with the giant carrots etcI have their breakfast tacos (eggs and bacon with salsa) twice a week.=Other dishes of theirs I love=Chicken Enchiladas, green sauce, charro beans, with an order of sour cream on the sidePork chopsFlautasChicken tacos with onions and cilantro on cornParrilladas Honestly I haven't tried anything else of theirs; it's hard to branch out when I know I love the above dishes, you know?

I don't like writing bad reviews but I am considering calling the health department due to the (2) RAT TURDS rolled up in my tortillas. This place is nasty.Completely grossed out. Don't eat here.

I Like this restaurant a lot, the food and service here is always top notch. I don't quit like it as much as there Oak Hill location (Taqueria Chapala) however I would still rank this among my favorite Mexican restaurants. Their new interior decorating is like no other restaurant I've seen around. It is really colorful, authentic and makes you feel like you've walked into Mexico with all.

They took a bigger tip from my credit card than what I had put on the bill. Do they really think people don't check their credit card statements?I don't know what the restaurant business calls this, but I call it stealing. Never going there again.
