Cute venue, super friendly service, and the food was great. Some of the best bulgogi in Austin. Great job Kochu!

So happy this place is in North Austin and not far from me - it's easily one of the best Korean BBQ experiences I've had in a while! Everything we tried was incredible. The chicken wings were perfectly crunchy and so flavorful, I couldn't get enough. We also ordered the Kochu Fried Rice, dumplings, egg rolls (that citrus sauce was chef's kiss), K-Wings, Bulgogi Kimbap, Bulgogi bowl, and Buldak. Every dish was packed with amazing flavor and cooked to perfection. The owners were so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Their hospitality really added to the experience. We'll absolutely be back--this place is a gem! If you're in the area, don't sleep on Kochu!

Its a solid 3.5- This is a newer Korean spot off Burnet with a counter service style. Went in and it was pretty straightforward- you order at the counter and they drop off your food at your table. Its no frills and very casual. I got the Jajangmyeon and the Bulgogi platter. Flavor wise it was good, i wished the jajangmyeon was a bit more flavorful as it bordered on bland. The pork helped punch it up a bit. The bulgogi was solid though, and with the fried rice it was good. My only issue with the proteins was the price, for galbi and bulgogi they were getting close to full service Korean restaurant prices. If you're charging premium, maybe offer a bit more service. Just my two cents. Otherwise it's a decent fast casual korean place if you're in a hurry.

Very causal vibe upon walking in, it can almost serve as a fast causal restaurant. If I was going to introduce someone to Korean food, this would be a good place because Kochu definitely has popular dishes that are wonderful introduction to Korean food.We got the chicken wings and bulgogi plate. The chicken wings were crispy and definitely well priced. The bulgogi plate had really good meat but I just wanted more flavor in the japchae and kimchi.I would definitely come back here for the wings.

A casual spot for some yummy fast Korean food! I got the kimchi fries and snacked on my friend's wings and buldak (not pictured). Overall super chill atmosphere and service was fast! Definitely will return to try more of the menu.

Came here yesterday for lunch with some coworkers and we all loved this spot! The staff was very nice and gave me some samples of their teas, which were very good. I ended up getting the spicy chicken bowl, which was so good and had lots of flavor and was a good size. My coworker got the K wings for us all to try and they were also really good. Had a good amount of crunch to them and the sauce was sweet and savory. This restaurant isn't very large so it doesn't have a ton of seating but it was nice and definitely a good spot for a quick meal.

Came to Kochu on a colder evening this Winter and was well greeted and given drink samples to try. Great first impression! Parking was plentiful as well, so that's always a plus.We ordered the Birria shin ramen, the spicy pork box, and original wings to share between the two of us. Wings were good, ramen hit the spot and the japchae that came with the box was also good. Overall, it's definitely fusion comfort food, which is good in a pinch, but not at the very top of our list. We'll come back at some point whenever we crave for that comforting shin birria, but unsure when yet.Certainly worth a visit if you haven't been and decide for yourself, though. Again, the comfort level is certainly there, and everything was quick as it is more of a self-serve restaurant.

Well done Kochu, well done. This is the spot yall!! Kochu offers an exciting menu of Korean dishes and they do it right. First off, the service here was outstanding. The owner (in assuming who it was that was helping us out) recommended so many dishes and gave a break down of every plate. When I started asking how their kimchi was made I think he knew right away that we were seasoned veterans of Korean cuisines haha. The spot is sort of hidden in a shopping center but they do stick out with their lighting and ambience. All the Korean decor was amazing and really brings the place out. The food. Wow. Simply a 5/5. The bulgogi bowl and the kimchi fried rice were top notch! I'd say they are pretty high on the list of great Korean cuisines in the Austin area. I recommend trying the tamarind drink as well, not too sweet and super tasty. I can't wait to be back, I highly recommend going if you haven't already!

100% recommend this place. The protein is so savory, the rice has this really subtle seasoning, salad is plain but delicious, and the noodles taste great. It's a bit pricey but I think it's worth $18. I've been here several times and the service is outstanding. I can see that the manager here cares a lot about how the food tastes and looks. I over heard him telling the cook to redo a plate because of the presentation. For that reason I will keep returning. Great job!!

I saw this new Korean spot in an Instagram reel, so I had to go check it out! Kochu is located on Burnet, a little South of the Domain. There is plenty of parking around the restaurant. As soon as we entered, we were greeted enthusiastically by the person working the register and several others. They offered us samples of their drinks and explained a bit about the menu. This is a counter service spot, with self-seating after you order. They offer a lot of the standard Korean dishes, including Korean fried chicken, jajangmyeon, buldak ramen, and bibimbap. We ordered:- Bibimbap with bulgogi: Pretty solid bibimbap, the egg was cooked to a perfect jammy texture and the bulgogi was lightly sweet.- Buldak ramen: This was pretty spicy (as expected for buldak) but not unbearable. The cheese definitely helped a bit! There is actually spicy chicken under all those noodles too, so not a bad value.- Spicy jeyuk plate: They offer plates and bowls for each protein, and the plates come with slaw and japchae. They also gave us a ginger sauce for the rice, which was refreshing after all the spice. The pork was a thicker cut than I'm used to seeing in this dish, but it was still tender and I enjoyed it. My one complaint is that the japchae had a strong taste of black pepper.Overall, this seems to be a pretty solid Korean spot and a nice addition to the neighborhood! The spicy jeyuk plate took a long time to come out, but someone who seemed to be the owner came over and apologized and checked on us which was nice. All of the staff were very friendly and seemed enthusiastic about the food, which was the best part. I wish they offered banchan with every order and not as a separate side order, but it's understandable considering they aren't a true sit-down restaurant. I would give this place 4.5 stars but I'm rounding up since they're new!
