I took my best friend to Josephine House for her birthday, and we had such a wonderful time! It was our first time visiting, and we left with nothing but good things to say. The house itself is absolutely stunning--quaint, charming, and intimate. It's a small space, so reservations are a must, especially if you want to ensure a perfect spot.Parking is very tiny, so you'll have to secure a spot on the street. We got seated near the window so we had a great spot for photo ops and people watching while we had our drinks! Our server went above and beyond, making sure my bestie had a memorable birthday. Their kindness and attentiveness really elevated our experience. For brunch, I chose the huevos rancheros, and my friend went with the steak and eggs. Her dish was spot on--the steak cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with the eggs. My huevos rancheros were flavorful, but I did find them a little tricky to eat because of how everything was layered on the tostada.While the experience was lovely, I couldn't help but feel the price point didn't quite match the meal. The portions were fairly small, and for $24, the flavors weren't memorable enough to justify the cost--I didn't even finish my plate. I wish they had somewhat of a traditional breakfast option. Additionally, the pricing seems inconsistent--some dishes, like a $14 soup or $28 burger, feel steep for the portions and presentation, making it unclear whether this is meant to be casual dining or a high-end experience.I'd suggest the restaurant refine the menu by focusing on a cohesive culinary identity, maybe highlighting a signature style or regional influence. They could also offer distinct sections or categories to help customers better navigate the variety, like a "brunch classics" and "chef's innovations" approach. This would enhance the overall dining experience and make the concept feel more intentional and balanced.Overall, Josephine House delivers on atmosphere and service, but I'd love to see the food live up to its premium pricing to make it a full 5-star spot.
