Iron Cactus Mexican Restaurant and Margarita Bar

Great service and drinks! We had the Cucumber Crush Martini and my husband had the Mezcal Margarita. The cocktails were delicious!We had the tortilla soup, which was extremely flavorful and meaty! Then we had the crab stuffed jalapenos, the lobster tacos, and the pork tamale pops. The jalapeños were tasty and spicy, the lobster tacos were good but an odd consistency- better with the dipping sauce. The pork was very bready. Overall great experience and service!

The food was amazing!!! I've been coming here for years. We sat at the bar. The service was amazing! The don marg is the way to go! Shrimp enchiladas were interesting but fantastic! The vibe is really here

Very good food. The lobster tacos had a weird flavor but I enjoyed it over all. Strong drinks and good location to hop around after. Staff were fast and food didn't take long either.

Update. Here attending a conference again and couldn't wait to go back. Even better experience this time. Our waiter Issac was incredible, the drinks were awesome, the Camarones al La Parrilla was still mouthwatering. This time we had two salas and the fire roasted one was so tasty! Definitely a favorite stop in Austin!

I ordered the steak fajitas with the Jack Honey Colada. Appetizers, brisquet queso and the crab stuffed jalapeños. My husband tried the peach mule. My fajitas were hot, seasoned and delicious. Both appetizers were tasty and delicious. Our drinks were good too. Will definitely return if in the area. Waitress was attentive.

I recently had lunch at Iron Cactus in downtown Austin, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, it took 30 to 40 minutes for our two brunch dishes to arrive. The slow service was frustrating, especially given the lack of crowd.To make matters worse, we noticed that other tables were provided chips, while we were not. This inconsistency in service was noticeable and added to our dissatisfaction. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Iron Cactus.

On our last day in Austin at the staff retreat, all the new employees were treated to lunch with the executive team at Iron Cactus. We had the second-floor dining area to ourselves which the company reserved for us to have a buffet of the restaurant's most popular lunch dishes. For my money, the tuna ceviche and bacon-wrapped filet were my favorites. The tuna ceviche was wonderful with the guacamole. The noise levels were fine on the second floor. The acoustics were fine. I was not a fan of all the food items, but the tuna ceviche was really good, in addition to the queso.

This place was awesome. We came with a group of nine and were seated very quickly. The server was friendly. Our food did take a very very very long time to come out and we did almost leave at one point. However, once the food did get there it was amazing. I had the steak fajitas and they were so good. Would go back!

The Iron Cactus was a great find in Austin. We were drawn there to have drinks at the rooftop bar, we were disappointed that the rooftop bar was closed. We sat in the first floor restaurant area had a drink and listened to a good variety of music. The Iron Cactus margarita was excellent as was the Mezcal Royale!We reviewed the menu and decided to order dinner. I was not all that hungry so I ordered the Baja Fish Tacos. Was I surprised to find two large tacos with huge pieces of fish. They were nicely seasoned and delicious. My wife ordered the Pescato DelMar containing shrimp, scallops and cilantro lime rice (an excellent portion on a large piece of Cod ( - took some home) Nicely seasoned. Lots of shrimp, very few scallops.Service was friendly efficient - right on point!I highly recommend the Iron Cactus!We were there before it got dark and left as it was just getting nightfall. The neighborhood started to change significantly for the evening . I recommend using a ride share for visits later in the evening.

Good location. On the corner. Can't miss it.Staff is extremely friendly. Not a long wait (Saturday at 7:30pm)
