Hold Out Brewing

This was my go-to bar in Austin. I miss it dearly. It excelled in every dimension - the outdoor seating and ambiance, the beer, and the food. The seating is great, with lots of room and shaded areas - really friendly community beer garden vibe every time I went. The beer in rotation was also consistently excellent and they had some really interesting varieties of their own which were pretty unique - I remember peaches and creme, and liquid television being among my favorites and I haven't been able to find a beer quite like that since. Most surprisingly, the food is really outstanding. I would typically get their 50/50 burger which was always very fatty and juicy - the additional pork bun was always a really nice twist which made it a little extra tender and unconventional in an interesting way.

The good was very good but overall the entire experience was meh. Hazy IPA was solid. The single classic burger was fine. Bun was cool to the touch as if it had come out of the fridge and didn't have a chance to get to room temp. A bit off-putting to bite into a warm patty sandwiched in a tepid bun. Both of my dinner partners ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and both complained that it was wayyyyyy tooooo saucy. So saucy that the chicken was squirting out the opposite side of the sandwich. One of my friends unbunned the chicken and used napkins to wipe some of the sauce off. The other scraped the excess off with a knife and gave up when all the breading on the bird slipped off with the sauce. Can't win them all I guess. Highlight of the meal was the fried cheese curds. They were beer-battered (?) pillows of yum! Maybe go for the beer and not the food??

We came here on a Wednesday night for a meet up. The parking was pretty packed but we manage to find a parking space. There is a lot more parking in the back. The outdoor patio is really nice and the weather was also accommodating. The picnic style table and the easy going environment promotes networking with new people and a good time talking with friends. We had to go inside to order food but they give us a number and bring out the food. I ordered some fried and burger and it was good. Although it was pricy for what it was. I spend 25 on fries and burger. But I also pay for the environment and the atmosphere. So it was kind of worth it. Overall, a great experience/place to just meet new people and hang out with friends. Will come back in the future to hang out.

Hold Out is thankfully not too far from the office, but just far enough of a walk to reset your perspective on the rest of the day. Most of the seating is outside and if you sit under the awning, it's nearly always pleasant.My favorite burger is the chori-pico. Chorizo mixed in with the ground beef. It is very very good. I finally had a regular burger the other day and it was acceptable. The chori-pico is better. Their curly fries are our favorite and one basket is enough to share with friends.Their beer selection isn't vast, but what they have is good. I usually wind up with a Liquid TV because I can't seem to drink anything other than IPA.Only complaint is that almost every visit, someone's food gets forgotten in the kitchen, so don't just sit there waiting if you feel left behind. When I finally went to ask last time, my burger had obviously been sitting around long enough it was almost cold.

Beer was super mediocre. Interior was a pretty cool vibe. Probably will not be back here.

Came here last night for some wings and their spicy chicken sandwich. Definitely did not disappoint! Their buffalo sauce is some of the best in town and what's great about it is it has some texture and not watery like others. Paired well with their hazy IPA on tap! Their blue cheese coleslaw that comes with the chicken wings is fire. Wish that came with more cause I could house a whole bowl

Excellent ambiance, not crowded at all for a Sunday, great food and beer. Particularly liked the Dominguitos and Latitude, the double cheeseburger was also really good!

Stopped by for a burger (it's supposedly a top 10 burger in Austin) for Father's Day.We ordered a brunch burger, curly fries and my husband got a dark lager.Hubs said the beer was good - malty and dark. Didn't wait long for the burger to arrive - it was impressive looking. Very sloppy. Lots going on - bacon, egg, two burger patties, a hashbrown, cheese, some kind of sauce. I would say it was a bit of a let down (I had a few bites). The beef patties were def well done and while there was a lot going on, it didn't really have a great flavor. My husband, who was the main eater of the burger said that he enjoyed it so that's why it's a 4* overall. The curly fries were ok but def not anything that knocked my socks off (likely just frozen and fried not fresh). Lots of outdoor seating (covered with fans); some indoor tables as well.Parking was sparse but some spots available so expected for the location.Overall, I think the burgers would hit if you've been drinking but I wouldn't come back for one let's put it that way. It wouldn't have made my top 10 list.

Had the chance to try their Hazy IPA, which quickly became the highlight of my visit. The beer was packed with juicy, tropical flavors. The brewery itself has a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Whether you're there with friends or just looking to relax, the vibe is perfect for enjoying a refreshing brew. Would definitely recommend this place!

Nothing hits more than a chicken sandwich and Diet Coke after yoga around the corner. I dream of their chicken sandwich. The perfectly crispy chicken... the sauce... the slaw. No notes. Service and vibes are always great as well.
