My spouse decided that we would do Hokkaido this evening, and I am glad she did. We got the Jalapeño poppers, the gyoza, the seaweed salad, and the Tonkotsu Shoyu. The poppers are great the great because in addition to the normal cream cheese and jalapeño, there was the faux crab, and and a lovely breading. *So* good! The gyoza is far superior to any gyoza I've had in a buffet: it had just the right amount of browning around the edges. The seaweed salad was tasty and filling. But the star of the show was the Tonkotsu Shoyu. Smooth, tasty broth, delicious pork, and bamboo shoots and the ramen. The bamboo shoots really absorbed the umami of the broth, as did the noodles. And the soft-boiled egg went perfectly with it. Seriously good stuff. Honestly, for Japanese food you can't go wrong with Hokkaido.

Mr R rolled back into town from a mechanically problematic road trip so I placed a pickup tapas-y kind of order conveniently close to a local liquor store for another holiday item to cross off the list. It was after dark for midwinter but not late.Reliable favorites of seaweed salad, harumaki/dip, karaage/dip, sesame balls and 2pk chashu bun. We had a few bites of salad and chicken left for later night snacks after a restorative nap, it worked out really well.More expensive than I usually spend for one to go meal but it was a stressful homecoming and this is how we chose to treat it. And everything was delicious as usual, so no regrets here.Small note but the chashu bun comes in 2pk now, for about the same price per piece. Also, seaweed salad seems to be disappearing as an option off some other places' menus so enjoy here while you can; I think it's a lovely palate cleanser against fried treats and if you have any left over, easy to work into another dish.

Honest review..They are understaffed, and the service you do get is not great. The food is fine, but I've had better elsewhere. The restaurant seemed clean. The person who picked the music was definitely an Ariana Grande fan lol. When entering we were not greeted, and we weren't sure if we were meant to seat ourselves as no one had initially acknowledged us. We sat down, and after a few minutes we were asked to move to a different table. It took long for our drink order to be taken, and we were only given 2 small plates for appetizers (when we were a party of 5).The Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura seemed like they needed to be cooked a bit longer. While the rest of the food was good not necessarily great. The waitress forgot to bring out our sushi, and after letting her know the sushi was missing, the wrong sushi was brought out, so she said she would have it fixed, and we waited more.We had ordered the Chashu Bun, but I'm mot sure if it was misheard, or if the bun is not a bun? Maybe I'm mistaken. Overall the reviews were deceiving, maybe we went on an off day? I was expecting to really like this place, but unfortunately I don't plan on returning. While I'm sympathetic to an overworked waitress, the service was not good, it was kinda bad. We didn't feel welcomed, and we never complained. The experience was a bit uncomfortable overall. If you decide to eat here, I recommend the Shrimp Fried Rice.

we were a party of 4 and 2 of us got our food 10 minutes before the rest of the party. the waiter said they were "backed up on online orders" , understandable, okay i guess. then we wanted to order another sushi roll but the waiter did not check up on us after giving us our food so we had to ask another waiter to do that for us. overall would not come back again because our experience was dookie. but food was buss.

The food, service, and ambiance of the place is incredible. The food was hot and came out quick (took us less than 15 min in between ordering the food and receiving). Massive amount of parking, would definitely go here again!

Christmas Eve 2023 Delicious ramen in the middle of Texas?! yes, it exists! After a long day of shopping on Christmas Eve, we found Hokkaido ramen open! The ramen here were so good!!! My spicy miso ramen had a very in depth taste and was absolutely one of the best broths I've had in a while! The portion was very generous! The pork belly was also a bit charred, which added another layer of yumminess to the dish. The ramen was great, and so was the sushi (monster roll) we ordered. The restaurant is small, but very modern and new. Service was good as well.
