Highly recommend staying here. It's close to Rainey St and a short walk to DT.There may be some street noise from the Rainey side, but didn't bother me on floor 8. Clean and comfortable.Parking is extra, so keep that in mind when staying here.

This isn't a bad place to stay considering it's at the corner of 6th street. You can easily walk to the bridge or all the popular sites within 15 minutes from this place. But holy guacamole, $55 for valet parking per day! That's why I can't give higher stars. The food was alright. You have to pay for the breakfast line and a bit extra if you want the hot foods (omelets, bacon, eggs, etc). The elevator has a weird lurch to it that is kind of nauseating when you move up/down floors.

We were in town for a show and I used my Hilton points to book the room. The room was nice and the staff was friendly. The restaurant and bar are on the 18th floor which is kind of cool and it overlooks Austin. There were three major downfalls that brought down the stars. The first was valet parking. $55 is completely unreasonable especially if you are staying at the hotel. Second, were the elevators. Exceptionally slow and your digital key doesn't work and had to wait at the front desk for a physical key. I'm not sure they have been maintenanced in some time. Lastly, two bottles of water and Advil cost $19. That was also unreasonable. It's also not completely downtown so the location isn't even prime. The room was decent and that really kept it at a solid three stars.

One of the less expensive options downtown. Not the nicest neighborhood. Walking distance to the bars on 6th street. Room was standard stuff. Breakfast and restaurant/bar have a nice view from the 18th floor. Water from the tap smelled a bit funny and stuck to the bottled water. Valet parking was costly but not out of line from other downtown hotels. Not my favorite but a really cost effective choice.

This Hilton Garden Inn pays homage to your Daddy's business hotel of the 1980s. It is replete with dark heavy furniture. As you would expect a hotel with 80's decor it has a lot of wear and tear. I found the desk staff to be delightful and welcoming. I also appreciated a ergo desk chair. What was less than welcoming was a general lack of cleanliness in the room especially the bathroom. Also, I go to HGI for their quality breakfasts and this one fell short. It had to be the soggiest, uncooked bacon I have experienced. The yogurt was the cheap stuff made of corn starch. What a disappointment.

Great location and amazing helpful staff, Valeria at the front desk went above and beyond to accommodate me when flights were canceled after I checked out. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in town knowing they have my back.

Anyone who knows me and has seen my reviews knows i don't write a review especially a bad one without trying every recourse to deal with the hotel directly but since i have made no progress in that regard i guess they can respond to me here. Stayed there with my asst on June 1st for a couple of days. After ckg out i saw a huge bill. They tried to charge my asst a valet charge for parking his motorcycle on a public sidewalk which u can do legally and at no charge in Austin ($110) They had charged us a smoking charge because they said the sensors went off...neither of us smoke or vape and it is my understanding from talking to other and people "at" the hotel that the sensors are super sensitive and can even pick up passive smoke ($250) and than i had left a large Milwaukee Tower light in the closet and called that same evening when i returned to San Antonio and was told they would Ck and reply in the AM. It was a large 4' bright red box so shouldn't be hard to find right .... Ok here is the big complaint. In almost 2 1/2 months i have not gotten "1" return call. Every time i call the mgr is not on property, in a meeting, "just left" or they don't work at the property .... It's always been one excuse after another..... than i escalated it to Hilton and same result ... they won't respond to anything at all to me and i am the one they should be reaching out to... same with my light... someone will let me know about my property but NO ONE has ever responded. This place is a nightmare when it comes to follow thru. I hate when an independently owned hotel treats people like they and their concerns don't matter. They feel they can overcharge u for anything and even steal from you with no recourse. That light didn't magically disappear. I am a Diamond with Hilton and a lifetime titanium with Bonvoy. No know what to expect from a hotel. Not new to this but i have NEVER in over 3000 nights in hotel had some so completely disregard a customer in this way. I did get the valet money back but i am just stuck out on the "smokong" charger and my $235 tower light. Will be posting in multiple placesFunny how in your reply you apologized for ur efforts. The whole point of my review was that you and your staff made " NO" effort at all to correct anything. That is sad that you didn't even recognize that in this long detailed review

Amazing stay!! What a wonderful experience with the front desk staff, including Carmen, Gloria and Valeria, they made our trip so enjoyable with their cheerful conversation and great advice. Our room was large, clean, and quiet and the location was convenient. The next time I'm in Austin, I will certainly stay here again!

When I got to the room, I noticed it was pretty darn cold inside so I pumped up the heater to 82 degrees as outside was about 39 degrees Fahrenheit. During that time, I went upstairs to get some food in hopes that the room would be cozy enough for me to enjoy my dinner. Sadly, the room was still cold after 45 min of waiting to order food and receive it. After dinner, I went downstairs to inform front desk that the heater was not working. The worker told me that they'll get and engineer to look at it and fix it as soon as possible. I said sure thing. If they cannot fix it, can I get another room that has a functioning heater? I was told no, there are a lot of rooms with a broken heater at the moment and they are fully booked. When I was ready to sleep, I had to put on a few extra layers and my outside jacket because it was just that cold for me. The next morning, I complained about freezing my petunias off due to the heater not working. The person said they'll get engineering on it and if it isn't fixed, they can move me to another room. I asked if they had room last night and the worker said they did. So right there, I was angry about the lie of lack of vacancy. I asked the worker if they could save me a room in case the heater isn't working by the time I get back. The worker said yes. When I got to my room later in the evening, the heater was working. My overall stay was decent except for the first night which tarnished the experience of staying at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Overall, the Hilton Garden Inn Austin Downtown could be an acceptable option. However, the pricy structural charges and the general location and upkeep are moderate detractors for this hotel. As far as upkeep, the tub could have used a bleaching. The general level of wear and tear in the room was acceptable but tending towards needing attention. The bed slept well and the variety of pillows was welcome. The climate controls were good with the AC not overcooling making it clammy which can happen. The view was nice from the 15th floor. I thought the atrium was nice - kind of a throwback to the 80s hotels I remember as a kid; but of course there was no activity there and so it just seemed kind of abandoned. Although I did not plan to swim, the pool did not look inviting. The location is challenging. The immediately surrounding area is not upscale which is fine except that I was approached by a belligerent man asking for money who did not initially accept my polite refusal. I definitely would not walk around at night. Also, the little drainage district that runs through the hotel grounds is trying to be nice, but the trash in the bottom of the canal is off-putting for sure. Definitely a missed opportunity. The $60 valet parking is steep but given the location the security of your car is noted as a part of the value proposition. The snack bar is pricy but I know this is just the world we live in now. I probably would not choose to stay here again, but given the right conditions, it could be acceptable.
