Hattie B's is a great fast casual spot if you're looking for Nashville hot chicken but probably not worth the commute if you're not already in South Austin.I visited around 7:45 pm on a Saturday and they weren't very busy at all. It took only about 5 minutes after ordering for food to be delivered to the table. My one complaint is that it was freezing in the restaurant... I wanted to eat quickly so I could get out of the cold.FAST FACTS:* Parking - there are a few spots near the road but another lot with parking around the back* Online ordering - pickup and delivery available online through their website* Register for a rewards account on their website and get a free dessert when you sign up!SERVICE - The workers were all very pleasant and friendly! The food came out quickly and everything was pretty clean.PRICING - The total was $36.81 after tax ($2.81) but before tip for dirty bird fries ($9.50), two sandwich combos ($10.75 each), and a side of bacon cheddar grits ($3). I think the pricing is reasonable for the portion size and quality of ingredients!DIRTY BIRD FRIES (8/10) - Delicious! It includes crinkle-cut fries topped with pimento mac & cheese, tender bites (you can choose between grilled or fried and get to choose your heat level... I went with "Hot!"), and comeback sauce (creamy, sweet, and tangy). I just wish there were smaller pieces of chicken instead of the big chunks. I'd order this again!THE SANDWICH (7.5/10) - Fantastic flavor, juicy chicken, and great bun but just not as crispy as I expected. It's served on a toasted, fluffy brioche bun with coleslaw (sweet and tangy), comeback sauce (creamy, sweet, and tangy), and pickles. You can choose between grilled or fried (I chose fried), your heat level (I went with "Hot!"), and can add American cheese ($1 extra) or pimento cheese ($1.50 extra). You also get to choose a side (or can add an extra side for $3 each). The breading isn't as thick and crispy as I would have liked which I'm sure is personal preference. I'd order this again but would go up a heat level because the "Hot!" wasn't as hot as I thought it would be.CRINKLE CUT FRIES (9/10) - Fantastic! I got these as my side with the sandwich and they were perfectly crispy and a nice portion size. They are dusted with house seasoning which is salty but a little sweet... I'd order these again!BACON CHEDDAR GRITS (7/10) - Exactly what they sound like... creamy and smoky grits with bacon, cheddar cheese, and topped with chives. They didn't blow me away but they were good. I'd probably skip these next time to try a different side.BANANA PUDDING (7/10) - I'm not usually a big "banana pudding" person but this was tasty! The vanilla pudding is layered with bananas and vanilla wafer cookies and topped with a toasted meringue. This was free because I signed up for a rewards account but I'd order this again if I wanted a sweet treat at the end. This was my first time at Hattie B's and I'm happy I tried it but I won't rush to go back unless I'm already in the area. If I want a hot chicken sandwich, I'm more likely to go to Tumble 22 because I prefer how crispy they are. If you're into Nashville hot chicken, it's worth trying but don't expect it to be life changing by any means.

Didn't realize Hattie B's had opened a spot in ATX but came across it while at ABGB and was looking for restaurants nearby on Yelp (duh!). I've had Hattie B's in Nashville, but it wasn't very memorable. I think this outpost is better. My boyf got the 3 chicken tenders and I got the two-piece dark -- both in HOT. The food came out fast and hot. We both probably could've gone one spice level up, but the HOT is good enough kick but not overly in your face. The meat was tender and good quality. Breading was crispy and spicy. For our sides, we got collard greens, mac and cheese, baked beans and colesaw. The collard greens were the best of the bunch - traditional and good. Mac and cheese was perfectly fine, as was the coleslaw. We prefer bbq beans over baked beans since baked beans are too sweet for our liking. We came on a Saturday at 3 p.m. and there wasn't a line -- not sure if there is ever a line here but they had a line setup at the door. There was a line when I went to the Nashville one. I thought the price point wasn't bad either in the scheme of things. For our meals it was $22.

Randomly drove by last week and wanted to try Hattie B's out as a friend recommended it to me. We were greeted sweetly as we entered; the wonderful person taking our order helped me decide on food and we bonded over our green nail polish.Anyways! Food was actually really good. I was craving fried chicken and Hattie B's hit the spot. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Outside they have some lawn games. Definitely will go back. Husband literally texted me saying we had to try their waffles! They were delicious.

Casual spot for some good chicken. Food came out quickly and was hot. The tenders had a nice fried texture and is flavorful. I got the 'hot' and there is a definite kick. The Mac and cheese is creamy and cheesy.

Visiting Hattie B's in Austin on South Lamar was a treat, especially as a first-timer! I arrived about an hour before closing, which was perfect for a quiet experience with plenty of seating options. Known for its Nashville hot chicken, Hattie B's keeps the menu straightforward but filled with options, especially when it comes to sides--more than I've seen at similar spots.I appreciated having a choice between grilled and fried chicken, which feels rare for a Nashville-style place. I went with the fried 3-tender plate, choosing medium spice, fries, and coleslaw. The tenders hit the mark with a juicy interior and a crisp, golden-brown exterior. Medium spice definitely had a bit of a kick, just enough to keep me on my toes but not overwhelming. I paired it with their "comeback sauce," which is their signature house dip, perfect for adding a bit of creamy, tangy balance to the heat. The staff brought a great vibe, friendly and upbeat. I also loved the outdoor area where they have Connect 4 and Jenga for anyone wanting to hang out longer. Overall, Hattie B's felt like a well-rounded, fun spot, and I'd definitely go back for more.

We stopped here on a whim for lunch and it did not disappoint! The service was excellent: all of the tables are super clean and folks actively wiped down tables as soon as someone left. I asked for recommendations as this was my first visit and was guided to exactly what I wanted. The seating is comfortable and relaxed. The grits stole the show for me. They are savory, creamy, and packed with flavor. The three wings were filling -- they were large and the hot seasoning is indeed hot. We'll be back!

This is a tough one to write because I am comparing the food we had with other favorites around town that have a spicy chicken sandwich. This did not turn out to be a favorite unfortunately. Nothing bad about the food just didn't hit for me. We had the chicken sandwich and fries. I had mild, husband had medium. Spice level as true to the order. The chicken breast was quality. Lots of quality meat! The fries were fresh / had spice on them but couldn't really taste it. Service was great. It's order yourself and they bring out to you. Ambiance was comfortable and clean.

A Nashville classic coming to Austin made this a must-try. The Austin location is similar to those in Nashville with having the same menu and following through on the same Hattie B's quality. The flavors are great and the chicken tender and juicy. Outdoor and indoor seating available here with a large seating area. Perfect for a little taste of Nashville!

Dare I say it- the Austin location was better than when I tried it in Nashville. We visited on a Saturday evening and though it was busy, there were still plenty of tables inside and out. We didn't have to wait in line at all and we ordered at the counter. We weren't super hungry so we ordered the three tenders with a side of mac & cheese and crinkle fries. I am always game for mac, but I really enjoyed the seasoned fries dipped in their ranch. The chicken was also really good and I appreciated that they had different spice levels you could order. The meal was plenty for two of us to split for a light dinner and was around $13.
