Great visit to Haiku, which feels like a hidden gem in Southpark Meadows. There are lots of other restaurants nearby (fast food, sit down Mexican, Italian, Vietnamese, Indian, etc.), but this is one of the only Japanese spots in the area.We had no trouble getting a table on a Friday evening around 7pm, so thankful we didn't have to wait in a long line or make a reservation. There was also plenty of seating at the sushi bar for those that appreciate a more traditional viewing of the chefs in action. For starters, I recommend the Harimaki as the favorite. For sushi rolls (which, see photos, they are sizable portions), the Longhorn roll was the table favorite. No drinks on this visit, but looks like they've got a solid option of cocktails and Japanese brews to try next time.

So far, we have quick service very quiet, not overpowering with the weight staff. Perfect balance. Food is delicious and tempura. The ambience is very calming, which is exactly what I was looking for right now before I go and paint with the twist.

A very bland, very forgettable restaurant. Such a shame. I love Japanese and this was far from. The chicken katsu was like cardboard. It's like they got frozen chicken strips from Costco. The sauce was straight up A1 sauce. Sushi was so mediocre. Yakisoba was limp.

Went back recently and with sadness have decided this place warrants two stars at best (and that's still only cuz the staff is really nice). The sushi is at best mediocre, and some of it unfresh and fishy tasting. I won't be returning anytime soon.

Haiku is our go to date night casual sushi spot. It's located in Southpark meadows it's quiet and a hidden gem. The sushi is always fresh, we usually sit at the bar and chat with the owner who is super sweet and treats us well. The happy hour is great if you can catch it, it's from 5 to 6:30 I believe. We usually like to stop in before we go to a movie. Stop in and show them some love if you are in the area.

Not sure why Haiku has raving reviews, both word of mouth and on Yelp, but other than our amazing server, the food was below average. For starters, we ordered the Miso Soup & House Salad. If you mess up Miso Soup, that's an immediate 'walk out the door' prompt from me. Luckily, that wasn't the case. However... the House Salad? That was questionable. The ginger dressing didn't have enough ginger to it and was watered down.As for our main courses, we tried the Chicken Katsu, and ordered a few orders of the Salmon Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll. If you like flattened, dry, flavorless chicken tenders, the Chicken Katsu fits the bill. Our server sold us on the sweet & sour sauce that comes with the katsu, but this entire meal tasted cheap. The saving grace were the rolls, which surprisingly were fresh. A tad higher in quality compared to HEB's sushi, but half the price during Happy Hour.

Sooooo...as always I'm out and about looking for some new place to enjoy fresh, good food and even better sushi ! Low and behold my wife says...let's try this place called Haiku...say less! I whip the car around and land at this somewhat hidden place...I have to say...a total bargain and the fish is really fresh and the cuts are really nice sized. What did we have you're asking? We started with a couple drinks...I had a sapphire martini...it was okay..tasted more like a dirty Martini....the wife got the peach sake....that was pretty damn tasty Then we moved on to a couple apps...the gyoza was really good.. get them pan fried...the only way I enjoy them and I can't remember the second app...probably because the ladies ate it...lolFollowing that we had Salmon, yellow tail and Tuna sashimi ...as mentioned all very fresh and generous cuts...our daughter got soba noodles which she said was really good as well. The one knock I had was we ordered sashimi rolls...which had too much cucumber for my liking. All in all I would recommend this place if you're craving sushi and don't want to spend the $$$$ for Uchi/Uchiko...come get some generous cuts of sashimi and really good rolls....We'll be back, please believe that
