Habesha has become a staple restaurant for me to return to every time I visit my partner in Austin, and every time I come, I am always upset that I don't live here. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious. My go to is sharing a veggie combo platter (the menu says for one but it can easily feed 2-3 people) and one meat dish if we're crazy hungry. Absolutely fantastic, always. The service is always great with every employee being kind and welcoming. The space is pretty spacious and has really gorgeous, colorful tables to sit at. I got hot tea to drink, which was a huge portion (the pot is deceivingly big), and was cinnamon and clove flavored. Perfect for the cold weather!Today, I brought my family, so we got a couple extras in addition to the go to Vegetable Combo:Beef Sambusa: flavorful, crispy, and the dipping spoon was fresh and added some lightness to the pastry. Azifa Roll: omg, sooo delicious and has become a must order for me on future visits. the mustard flavor is really gorgeous and compliments the lentils so well. Vegetable Combo Platter: a delight as always!! A must get every time.Lamb Awazay Tibs: so flavorful with really tender bites of meat, onion, and jalepeno. If asked, get it spicy- spicy is just wicked good flavor, rather than heat.I cannot recommend Habesha enough for a fantastic, filling meal. Happy eating!

This was one of the more odd dining out experiences for me. It was my best friend's birthday and the Ethiopian restaurant that we generally like was closed on a Tuesday. We took this as an opportunity to try a new place, given there are only three or so Ethiopian options in Austin. When we arrived, there was no hostess or server anywhere. We waited a while and a lady walked out of the kitchen, with no greeting or welcome, and already irritated that we hadn't seated ourselves. Maybe put up a simple sign letting customers know to do so? The platter options are also odd - you can either get variety but order only for 1 person, or order for 2 and only choose 4 items. We wanted to try more of the dishes so went with several orders of Option 1 but the quantities were relatively small for an Ethiopian restaurant. It also arrived with only one injera and we had to keep ordering more. Other places start you off with at least a basket. And their platter was $20 for one person - on the pricier side compared to other places. The lady was nowhere to be found once food was delivered to the table - we had to knock on the kitchen door just to get someone's attention when we wanted to order more food and had already waited a while to see if she comes back outside. I can't say service was horrible because service was non-existent, though the limited interactions we did have were cold and unfriendly. Yet it wasn't a cafe with counter service either, they expected you to remain seated. And neither was this one lady the actual chef who might be multitasking. Once we received the extra orders of the "sides", they were basically 2 spoons worth of the dishes. I couldn't get over the fact of how little food they served, especially being too used to the open-heartedness and generosity of other Ethiopian dining experiences. All that would be discounted if the food delivered at least on flavors. Unfortunately, most of the dishes were missing the richness of spices and flavors that this cuisine is known for. Food was toned down and more on the bland front.

I ate here over a year ago and had decent food after a long wait for pickup. Since that time, I receive at least one spam text per week from different senders. I can't unsubscribe and I can't block, since it comes from different sources. Be careful about giving them your information. They obviously don't care about how they manage their advertisements.

I love Ethiopian food in general. This is my first time coming here. The injera bread is cool/cold? I think they refrigerate them, which is understandable in this texas summer, but it's my first time eating cold injera. The food is great. No complaint here. The meat is super tender. There's not a single piece that is chewy. The service is also very good. Overalll a nice experience. I'll be back again when I crave for Ethiopian food.

Met a friend for lunch this week to process the results of the election. I've always enjoyed Ethiopian food and the injera bread. This was no exception. We shared a very large 2 person combo plate which was yummy. The waitress was very nice and helped us decide what options to select. There was only two other people there when we first arrived and maybe one more table was taken before we left. The restaurant had a very strong incense smell that made the inside look hazy. It was not unpleasant but strong so it took us a bit to adapt to it. The food was fresh and the combo gave us a few options to try. I look forward to going back and trying different items next time!

I was relieved to find an Ethiopian restaurant in the Austin/Round Rock area as it is something that is not easy to find in many other parts of the country. The restaurant is easy to find in a small strip and the decor is full of Ethiopian culture. The ambiance is clean and the restaurant is nicely sized. Service is good and servers are friendly. Be patient as it'll take some time to get your food, but it is definitely worth it. They have many vegetarian and meat options, depending on what you like. I got one of the beef tibs and kitfo (raw tartare) which goes great with their traditional Injera bread (teff flour based). I recommend trying a few different dishes, so you can find what you like. They also sell Ethiopian coffeeFood is reasonably priced, filling, and delicious

We came here a little before 5:00 p.m. Outside the place did not look promising but at least inside it was empty. But the food was pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, good. (Channel your inner Larry David here.)Boyfriend recommended we try the Tej, a fermented honey wine with notes of balsamic vinegar with the cloying sweetness of a Gewurtraminer. It was perfect for the food. I loved the spongy bread. The service was great and I liked the woodsy spicy smell of a Cost Plus.Planning on going to more Ethiopian restaurants in the future. I like eating with my hands.

Good food. The vegetarian options are better than the beef. The chicken is also good. The ingera was not too sour.

Loved the ambience here, so quaint yet vibrant!Vegetarian combo was delicious. Every vegetable dish was flavorful and it was fun making different combos for every bite.We were recommended a cubed beef dish that ended up being a little overcooked and chewy, but still nice. Would try a chicken dish next time. For two people we got more injera and had enough leftovers for lunch the next day.
