Love this place. An Austin staple. The food speaks for itself. But I'm not reviewing about the food. As a fellow Soco restaurant employee. I love when i have service experiences that show example of exemplary effort, and I definitely had that with William today. Throughout the meal he was a great server, giving us space and helping us go over things even during the end of the night pop, and helped us out perfectly, after we left i forgot my vape at the table (which a busser rightfully threw away), when i told william he finished running the drinks, and then fished my vape out of the trash can for me. He truly went above and beyond (and below a lot of salsa and paper towels) and especially so late at night with a full section. i tip my hat to you sir. Thanks for keeping people coming back to soco and our amazing austin restaurants :)

We had family visiting from California, and they were really excited to try Guero's. I looked at the yelp reviews and was not encouraged, but, they wanted to try it. Positives - cool looking restaurant, efficient, service, amazing location Negatives - I am 100% convinced that the chips were H-E-B brand and the salsa was Pace picante. My wife had the fish tacos and it literally looked like they put the fish and vegetables into a blender and poured it into her tortilla. Speaking of the tortillas, they too were subpar and appear to be store bought. Their beer selection is absolutely terrible . The rice and beans lacked seasoning in flavor. If it wasn't for the location, I don't think they would be very popular. There are tons of other authentic Mexican restaurants in the area that I would choose instead.

My work team was having a happy hour here so I don't know how the overall food tastes but the chips and guacamole were really tasty. We had group of about 20 people standing at the bar area and the staff took great care of us. We all got the drinks we want and the chips and guac came fast. I definitely want to go back and have a proper meal there.

Guero's is iconic. It was one of the first places I went when I moved here. Be prepared as there is usually a wait. It's worth it. If you want to people watch while you eat then ask for an outside table. There is a tiny bar and if you can grab a spot there while you are waiting...go for it! Luckily we didn't have to wait for our two top. The chips are perfect! There is a "help yourself" salsa bar. There is red, green, and pico de gallo. They are all great. My fave was the red. It's a little spicy, so if that is not your jam then go for the green. We did what any sane person would do and ordered queso. We tried our "best" not to get too full on chips. ;)We both wanted tacos but not the rice and beans that come with it. There is an ala carte option for tacos. You can order as many as you wish. They have about 10 different choices. My friend got the shrimp and I got the chicken especial. I've been here many times. The service is good. The food is consistent. The people watching on soco is fun.

We wanted some classic tex Mex food and this fixed that craving! We were seated right away and got some margaritas. They were a bit pricey for what you got but they were good- classic. There was a misunderstanding with two of our orders but our server got the kitchen to fix it right away which we appreciated. Food is good, nothing crazy out of the ordinary. If you're craving some tex Mex and you're on south congress definitely stop by.

Saturday afternoon we headed to the Patio for music with the grandkids. It is a nice place for them to dance and enjoy a friendly group of people. Inside for a fast dinner we were greeted nicely by front of houses & waiters helping with 2 booster seats. Thank you for that help! Kids loved the big $12 bowl of queso & the best tortilla chips ever. A kids menu quesadilla and beans were perfect for them. I enjoyed pork and beef tamales, $2.35 each. It did the job of making our afternoon outing with the grands a perfect time.

I went to Guero's taco on their garden patio on a Friday night around 7pm. Vibes were great, live music, multiple seating areas. They even had a water station (didn't see restrooms). We tried their tacos and tamales and they were delicious! As a Mexican-American, I've never had tacos or tamales that taste as close to my families and there are great! Price was good in my opinion
