There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in Bastrop and many more in the surrounding area. We go to several in a kind of rotation, nothing formal but they each have their unique things. This visit didn't turn out so great. There were a few highlights but overall it fell below the bar in several ways. The chips here are different, light, crispy but a little delicate. They are good, and the salsa is tasty, a little on the hot side.I ordered the Queso Loco for the first time and it turned out good. Queso with chicken, rice and pico. It could be a meal on its own. Kinda like a casserole. Really enjoyed it.For dinner I got the Steak Cozumel which honestly was the worst steak I've had at a restaurant. I NEVER use condiments on the table but had to request the pepper shaker and use that and salt to give this thing some flavor. It had some odd flavors going on in different sections of the meat. It came with rice/beans and an enchilada choice, I got chicken. It was good. The service was ok, they seem to be in the same boat as every one else with the lack of staff. I tend to measure service by whether I need to wait for refills. It was not the best but not the worst.Overall, a disappointing experience this time but I'm not checking it off the rotation yet. Usually it's much better.

Food was delicious. I didn't care for their water. I think it's soft water. So I just ordered another drink. Otherwise the food was good. We had a variety of food as well from their spinach enchiladas, hard tacos, veggie quesadillas, and kids grilled cheese. The waitress was awesome as well. Very attentive and friendly.

We stopped in after running a few near by errands. We sat at the bar and had amazing service. Beers were ice cold and the breakfast tacos were delicious! Really great tacos at a great price. The bathroom was clean and each toilet has a flip down seat for small children so they don't fall in! Really like that. The chips!! Wow their chips are amazing. So super crispy and light. And FRESH! Hands down the best chips from any restaurant in Bastrop.

It's a large restaurant at Burleson Crossing, which is a convenient location near many shopping options, off Hwy 71 just West of Ed Burleson close to James Avery. I was seated after a short wait with two parties ahead of me. Even for a late, weekday lunch they were doing plenty of business. I received five star service from Brianna. She was friendly and attentive and I was well taken care of from the moment I sat down. The only problem I had with the chips and salsa is that they were too addictive! I ate the whole basket even though I wanted not to. Their chips are thin and crisp and almost airy in the most delightful way that really stood out. Being my first time here, I ordered a signature dish - Tres Garcias, which is a trio of enchiladas: one cheese, one shredded chicken with sour cream, and one ground beef with chili (no substitutions). The cheese was just a plain cheese enchilada topped with nacho cheese sauce. It just tasted like a spoonful of melted Velvita. Adding diced onion inside and/or replacing the nacho sauce with a standard enchilada gravy would have made it less of a kids meal item. I smothered it in their salsa (I like their salsa). I thought the chicken/sour creme would be my favorite. It was better than the cheese, but mildly flavored. The star of the show was the excellent beef enchilada! The ground beef was tender and perfectly seasoned with cumin and aromatics. The chili sauce was flavorful and not too gravy-like. This dish was a celebration of Mexican flavors and beef. Rice and beans were included (I wasn't sure they would be). I am particular about these all-important sides, and while no one matches my wife's, I certainly had no complaints about these. Good job. That's 5 stars for the service, and 4 for the food and convenient location. The ambiance, music and lighting were all standard. So why 2 stars overall? There's a singular reason. I'd rather them raise their prices 2 1/2 percent then add a "No Cash Adjustment" to every bill. Please don't quote me a cash price and then charge me extra for paying by card. Gas stations shouldn't do it, and restaurants certainly shouldn't do this. Credit card charges are a cost of doing business. Are you going to quote me a "no lighting" price and then charge me extra if I flip on the light switch so I can see what I'm eating? It's a deceptive practice, even if deception isn't their intent. When you add a price to a menu, people expect that this is the real price, not a cash-only price. And I appreciate the "God bless you" message on the bill, but I didn't feel the bill was a blessing when I saw that added charge. It might as well have said, "God's credit is good here; all others pay cash," "No cash? That's a problem," "Pay for your own frequent flyer miles - we've got enough expenses," or simply, "We penalize cardholders." The point is, this message is anything other than "Thank you for dining with us."I would never pay cash here, just in protest of that practice. Just realize that the price listed is not the final price. And don't take the difference out of your tip, please; the wait staff is great. But if anyone reading this happens to know one of the owners, you might encourage them to reconsider their pricing policy. I'm sure they're wonderful, friendly people. It's just that their billing system doesn't reflect this.

Went there for lunch in Tuesday. Food was great and to get lunch and iced tea for $10.50 practically a steal. The tea was great fresh no bad taste. The Moms #2 was enough food to keep me satisfied for several hours. The one drawback is that they are not open on Mondays.

ordered 2 fajita burritos combos to go. I can't express how DISAPPOINTED I was when I lifted up the lid to dig in. When 2 burritos with queso and tip cost $40 and these things looked like a kids' meal at best. Ridiculously small burritosl with maybe a 1/2c of rice (i ordered all rice no beans). The rice didn't even fill the pockets of the container. I wish I had taken a picture of this dissolution in my Styrofoam container called dinner. To top it off, they weren't that good. Definitely NOT worth $40. If this wast bad enough we both had Montezumas revenge the next morning! Will never go there again!!

Listen guys and gals. My hubby and I ate breakfast here this morning and we are super disappointed! I had the migas plate and I was very upset at how dry and HUGE the potatoes are. Hardly any egg and fried tortillas in there. Came in and they didn't offer any chips and salsa. Don't bring any. You all need to go to Mi Ranchitos in Manchaca and order their Migas! So far they are THE best we have ever had! Your lunch and supper are great but breakfast was a huge disappointment.

The atmosphere was great and so was the service. I was disappointed in the food. It was so salty that me and my husband didn't even finish our plates. And adding nacho cheese to the chicken breast is not a good idea. I can't even consider this Tex-Mex. Will not be going back.

I arrived about 3:45 and waited about 10 minutes to get told to sit where I wanted. There were a few plates on tables that appeared as though customers just left. I did not get refills on my tea and by the time I got my tortillas, I was almost done eating. I asked waitress, Fabiola, if she was the only one working and she stated she was. The other employees go to school she said. She did the best she could.
