The inside of this freebirds is nice and pretty new. I do miss the charm of the old school Freebirds with foil sculptures. The employees were very helpful and nice when I had questions about the options. Unfortunately the food itself wasn't very good. The queso was a little thin and didn't have a great flavor. The chips were good but I would like a slightly larger portion to match the portion of queso. The bowl itself was also a little unsatisfying. The chicken and other protein are cut up into very small pieces and didn't taste high quality. The flavor in general of the various components, like the rice and beans, were lackluster. I don't think it has much to with this specific location. I think freebirds recipes in general aren't very good or flavorful.

Finally a rival to the Empire (that is other dominate burrito chain) has arrived in Kyle! I've last had Freebirds in Kansas City about 20 yrs ago (the same time between Star Wars Episode III & IV) and I found the rebellion wasn't great however time heals all wounds so I was anxious to give it another shot. Will this revisit at the new Freebirds be up to the task? If you're looking for a quick, patience my young padawan.Freebirds is located in a safe and easy to access area of Kyle off of the access road. It's in a brand-new building, thus very clean. Unlike the Empire, the people are friendly, fast to assemble your food and willing to suggest decent combos of flavors. The rest of the interior is like the mess hall in a star destroyer, void of life but able to sustain all types of life forms. Now that we've addressed the technological terror they've constructed let's talk about rations; for the Jedi it is time to eat as well...." Here is where we begin to get differentiate the minutia of how Freebird's food offerings. Right off the bat I felt a great disturbance in the force as if millions of avocados cried out in fear, then were silenced. The chips and guac were less than stellar as I only saw two ingredients; avocado and cilantro. As I took a bite it was like a force choke of cumin, like a lot. I'm a former chef and never heard of cumin in guac, moreover guac is like a salad, containing, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, lime, salt and sometimes japs while being chunky. I wasn't a fan.Now here's it's kind of hard to describe my taco and burrito as it all depends on what I loaded it up with but I can offer some insight as the dark side offers abilities some consider to be unnatural. For the taco, I opted for a flour tortilla stuffed with brisket, lettuce, tomatoes, red rice, cheese and corn. Again, the ingredients were fresh while the tortilla was toothsome. I cried out in my loudest Wookie impersonation - Arrgghharrrgg! This basically meant it was good and the meat surprisingly tender while the red rice didn't have much TexMex flavor to it. Next up was the burrito and the force was strong with this one. I got a normal flour tortilla stuffed with lime rice, cheese, corn, pico, black beans and chicken. Part of my dilemma was I was offered a choice of light and dark side chicken meat (white/dark). I selected the dark however it was diced up in very small pieces so I never got that nice chew of tender chicken and it was more disappointing than Episode 7. The white lime rice was impressive, as it had a nice hit of lime to amp up the other flavors. The pico only had what I saw as tomatoes, void of peppers, onions and herbs. Still besides my nitpicking it wasn't bad.Overall, the experience wasn't as epic as destroying a death star but it was better than my last endeavor all those years ago. The food was fresh, the service quick, the prices were reasonable and the facilities safe and clean. I have small issues but again, it's more based in personal preference and not quality or execution. I believe anyone that choses eating here will have the force with them, always.

I came here because they have teachers a free burrito when it first opened! I must say it was very tasty and delicious. It was so good, that I forgot to take a picture of my meal. I chose the steak, with cheese and rice. I went at a good time because there wasn't too many people before the dinner rush. Lots of places to sit and parking can be tough in the evenings with all the restaurants nearby. I will definitely come back and try more items on the menu. Thanks for giving back to your local teachers!

I'm so excited to have a Freebird in our town! I loved this place in college station and now I can pick it up around the corner. My burrito was great! The options to add are perfect. I highly recommend the air fried potatoes. The creamy jalapeño was very spicy as was the queso. The best part of this location was the friendly staff. Everyone was cheerful and helpful. I'll definitely be back!!

The food was very lackluster. The rice was maybe undercooked? It was kind of hard. The meat was chopped up into tiny pieces. The servers are very kind, so it really has to do with the quality of the food. The ambience is chill.

Freebirds is a locally-grown burrito chain much like Chipotle but with its own take on the formula and some unique options. I'm happy they've added this brand new store near the Costco in Kyle!I really miss the spinach tortillas they used to offer, but they still have cayenne and regular tortillas, so I always choose the cayenne for a touch of flavor and heat, but not too much. The white chicken is usually my go-to, but this time I upgraded to the temporary offering of brisket which was very good. I've been disappointed in the brisket before because of fat and toughness, but it seems like they've changed the process and this time was perfect.I also recommend the birria beef if it's ever offered again! But otherwise I always ask for the same things on my burrito: cilantro rice, refried beans, fajita vegetables, corn, shredded cheese, sour cream, tortilla strips. Stick to those and you get a great burrito! They also offer guacamole and queso for an added charge, but that's not necessary. You can also increase the size to Monster for a few dollars, but the regular Freebird size is more than enough for a meal. And of course they have the regular fountain drinks that are nothing special, as well as desserts like brownies or the lemon cookie that's actually quite nice.Rather than the old rock & roll style interior they used to have, I like this new interior that uses a lot of airy sky blue to make things comfortable and cheery. There are plenty of tables inside, but there's also a patio on the side with more seating for when the weather is good.

If you've got kids, Freebirds is the place to be on Sunday! Kids eat free when the grown ups purchase a meal!I generally get a nacho platter for myself and find it to be the perfect amount of food for lunch. I haven't had anything bad here! The kids meals are really nice and come with either a taco or quesadilla, chips and a drink. My kids usually get milk or juice.I just noticed on our last visit that there's a nice open space outside between Freebirds and the pizza spot next door. It was too cold to eat outside yet but I can see this as a great hidden gem for kids to run around while the adults have a bite.

Terrible service. Only had one person working and she told me and multiple people she could not work on our to-go order until the line got down. Understandable so I wait. Wellll the line just kept growing and growing and when I asked what about the line growing? She shrugged and said she needs to get them first... so I waited over 30 minutes past my togo time for my order since people who got here after me got to go because the other worker was "at the bank"... during lunch hour.. ridiculous. get a better system and do better.

Service was great. The woman spent extra time letting me try meat choices and explaining myChoices. The steak and brisketwas good. Not fatty. Lots of choices for add ons. $15 with guacamole for regular size burrito. Spacious and clean inside. Onlydownside was not being told tiny amount of potatoes and sour cream was an extra charge.
