Super cute oldies style diner but with contemporary breakfast foods. We stayed at the Thompson and were offered breakfast each morning here which allowed us to try a variety of things. While I think most of the food is delicious, some of the dishes are outrageously priced and the wait time to get your food seems excessively long. Here's a list of what we had:Confit duck and waffle (5/5): easily the best dish here. The duck is perfectly tender and moist and the skin is crispy. The waffle has a nice hint of cinnamon and the bourbon maple syrup is AMAZING. Don't skip this!Brisket hash (4.5/5): solid dish and another thing I would recommend ordering.House granola (5/5): I liked this a lot - you get a bunch of Greek yogurt with this delicious berry jam, which goes great with the perfect amount of honey and the granola which has just a hint of ginger. Super yummy and light. Green eggs and ham benedict (4/5): nice hint of basil in the hollandaise, perfectly poached eggs with a generous amount of ham. Comes with a salad. Solid dish. Classic omelet (3/5): the omelet comes with goat cheese but we opted for American since I don't care for goat cheese. However this tastes more like a Kraft single rather than real American cheese. I hate fake cheese and $16 for two eggs, fake cheese and a small salad seems like a rip off. The eggs were cooked perfectly for an omelet though.Avocado toast (4.5/5): great flavors from the chili crisp, pickled onions and egg on buttery bread. But $17 also seems outrageous, and I laughed when I saw that smoked salmon is $14 to add on. Please...I do think this restaurant is a solid option for breakfast but keep in mind a potentially long wait for food and those few overpriced dishes. Also, they get pretty busy after 9 am on weekends. Otherwise, I recommend!

Came on a Sunday morning around 9am, luckily I could grab a seat at the bar. The waiters were attentive and the food came out at a decent time. Brisket hash was alright. I wish the brisket was softer and hotter. The potatoes were hot and crisp. I liked pairing it with their hot sauce (yellow bottle). There's a lot more potato to brisket ratio.

Fantastic! Lovely staff and chef is hands on. Manning the station like a pro. Amazing vibe and great food. The steak and eggs is the bomb dot com! Espresso martini on tap is STRONG (perfection). Love this place and its aesthetic.

A friend and I were in town for the food and Wine festival. It was our first time coming to Austin. And it did not disappoint. This city has so many different restaurants and live music everywhere. We were looking for a breakfast spot, the reviews were encouraging and it was within walking distance. The staff was very welcoming. We were seated immediately. The food was absolutely delicious especially the French toast. I got a traditional American breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, and potato hash. Also had a vanilla latte which was actually really good. The diner was really cute. I love the flooring with the black-and-whit tile, which made you feel like you were at a traditional diner. They had really nice decor including the black-and-white pictures of famous Texans on the wall. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Very odd interaction. Walked into a busy restaurant. Entire time host is running around busy. Completely understand. But at no point acknowledged or said anything to me. A family walk in behind and she greets them then looks at me waiting for me to say something. I say just a party of me. She asked if I was staying at the hotel. I said no. She said it would be a 20 minute wait. I asked to sit at an empty seat at the bar. She then said if I sit there the food will take a long time. At no point did this feel like a very welcoming environment. I understand busy. And I can be patient. But I mean... Bummer because I came across them on yelp and wanted to try the brisket hash

I LOVE this place! The staff is always so warm and welcoming. I love that you can sit at the counter with the chefs and see them making your breakfast. It has an old diner feel with a modern twist. I tried the brisket hash (YUM), and my husband enjoyed the steak and eggs. I don't know what the marinade on that steak is, but OMG, that butter! The bloody mary and mimosa were also DELICIOUS! They really paired nicely with our food.

Everything from the service to the food was absolutely class. The waitresses were attentive and kind with great recommendations. The brisket and hash breakfast was probably the best breakfast I've ever had with their spicy house sauce. Solid place, would give it 10 stars if I could. A proper American diner experience.

Positive: Decor is perfect for a diner atmosphere. Friendly service.Negative: The owner needs to understand what a diner serves. Their menu is very limited and very OVERPRICED. Cold coffee. Also. Do not call yourself a diner when your only option for soft drinks is by can. SERVE FOUNTAIN SODA.

Food and service were great. Prices are reasonable. This is a popular spot for breakfast and lunch. We visited them twice while we were visiting Austin.
