Exquisite! Highly recommended and they ship their coffee if you don't go to the store. They are the best. We don't like supermarket coffee (except lavazza) but we have to support our good local coffee

Their French roast coffee is my absolute favorite, and based on how hard it can be to find sometimes, it looks like other people feel that way too. I've had company ask for the specific brand/roast when visiting town and drinking at my home. Grinding the beans fresh and brewed with filtered water, best coffee there is!

This review is strictly about the coffee - "signature roast, whole bean" - which I received as part of a gift basket. I really did not care for this. Your mileage may vary (and from the reviews, many persons' does).I found it a strange combination of over-roasted tasting and having a lack of depth. It was oddly burnt and watery at the same time. It was terrible enough that I only finished part of the bag, emptying my Jura Capresso of it and tossing the bag. The tag boasts "richly aromatic, bold and full-bodied"; their web site indicates "bright acidity and exceptional aroma." While it does smell nice, I found no acidity or body. They have a nice mission statement and philosophy on their web site. There are a lot of nice comments and good ratings herein, so if the place sounds nice, I'd go ahead and give it a try. Perhaps I just got a bum bag.

I came to know about Fara Coffee from a roadshow at my nearby Costco. Now, before we go any further with this, know that Fara Coffee is _NOT_ stocked by your Costco; it is one of those "roadshow only" items. So save the hate mail when you make a special trip to Costco and find it isn't there.Fara sells six varieties of whole bean coffee:- Breakfast Blend- Special Blend- Signature Roast- French Roast- Espresso Roast- DecafWhat makes Fara Coffee special? Well, for one, it's "Buy Local". The family owns all aspects of this Austin-based coffee biz, from planting to packaging. They have four estates in Nicaragua where the coffee is grown. And, it's a multi-generational business; five generations strong.Fara's coffee is Specialty Grade, nothing less. It's rainforest shade grown. it's strictly high grown (above 3,000 feet elevation). And it's also 100% Arabica coffee. At the risk of sounding like Henny Youngman, "That's what the bag said".So what possessed me to buy nine pounds of coffee based on one taste? Well, for one thing, a French Roast that doesn't pay you back for hours on end. Low acid is where it's at, my friends. I don't see a BP-sized oil slick forming in the top of my cup after it's brewed, either. Last, but not least, the flavor and aroma is pretty darned awesome. But, don't take my word for it. Fara has a coffee shop and a sports bar in ABIA, so next time you're there, try some. And, if you can't wait that long, Fara is available by the pound at HEB, Sprouts, Newflower, Specs, Walgreens, and many other places around town.It also makes the perfect Christmas gift!

Fara Coffee is a wonderful product! It is locally roasted in Austin and both the farms in Nicaragua and the roasting company are owned and operated by the same family who oversee every step of the process from growth to roast. I love this coffee for the great quality and also for the strong connection to Nicaragua. Proceeds from their Fara Foundation go to the farmers and their family to help provide schools and clinics! Not to mention the coffee comes in many different roasts, never artificially flavored, never tasting burned, and low in acidity. You can find the yellow bags at HEB, Sprouts, Whole Foods, Randal's, and Fresh Plus, or it can be ordered online via faracafe.com. Drink up coffee lovers!

Fara Coffee fits right into the niche market of coffee in a city such as Austin, but with the market so saturated with "bestavores" rather than "locavores", I put high priority on high quality beans purchased at a higher price. This is sad to say, seeing as we have both Cuvee, Third Coast, and Fara sold widely--at many local groceries.I do appreciate this micro-roaster (can we really call it "micro" though, for how widely spread it is?), specifically for its Nicaraguan partnership, and their ability to crank out so many different provides variety for clientele seeking simplicity in flavor and for brewing purposes.I recently gave the coconut-flavored selection a spin, and I very much enjoyed the aromatic nuance to this varietal, though the roasting may have lent a slight burnt note into the finished product.Fara welcomes all who necessitate a solid, local outlet when they look to make their next caffeine purchase.

SHADY company with TERRIBLE customer service.I ordered (3) bags of coffee: Signature Roast, Special Blend, and Espresso Roast. There was a chemical funky smell to them, a mixture of over-roasting and over-oxidation. The coffee beans were broken and blistered and the smell was fairly rancid. The Espresso Roast was past the due date by over a year. I spent $31 and tossed the whole batch because it could not be consumed. When I called customer service to notify them, there was no response. I reached out to them several more times but no response. Typically, I move on and don't patron the business. Not worth my time. But this was pretty excessive. I had to throw out my whole order, especially the 5 lbs Espresso bag. When contacted filed a dispute, they came back with a phony narrative and refused to credit the order. DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

I love this coffee. It is specialty grade coffee for the price of average coffee. It is by far the best deal for local Austin coffee brands. Also what other brands actually grow there own beans at their own farms all the while supporting some of the less than fortunate people in nicaragua
