The restaurant has a very nostalgic Japanese feel. You can sit in normal seats or a traditional wooden seating that gives a pleasant ambiance. The service was quick and friendly. Everything is ordered via qr code and you pay before you eat. It's a little unorthodox to pay before receiving your meal but it was nice to settle bill first. Food was great. Sushi was fresh. Great quality. The bibimbab was very tastey. Highly recommend for a date night.

Parking: not bad on a friday at 615 pmReservation: able to get a table for 2 an hour beforeFood: 3/5 the sashimi platter had half the fish torched to cook and they didn't count total pieces before sending out; rolls were great; nigiris fell apart but fish was greatAmbiance: immersive japanese experiencePrice: below average for the value; we paid $160 for 2 rolls, 16 nigiris, 2 handrolls, 300 ml sake, 10 pc sashimi (we only got 9)Service: amazing! We will try other sushi spots before coming back.

Actually really enjoyed my meal here! It was pretty crowded when we got there on a Friday night but we were still quickly seated without reservations. Staff were nice and attentive. What caught my attention was the cute interior decor; it had a very Japanese-style seating arrangement. The atmosphere felt casual and relaxing. The food was pretty good! I especially enjoyed my fatty salmon nigiri. The rolls were also great! The rice to fish ratio was perfect. I liked that the rolls were not overpowered by eel sauce like some other places. Solid place for sushi but still not the best in town as Austin's sushi scene is pretty competitive.

This is my friend's favorite sushi spot in Austin, so six of us came to celebrate her birthday! The name itself really threw me off, since she said it was a sushi restaurant but it has Seoul Korean in the name. It turns out they offer both Korean food and sushi, with a pretty decent selection of options for both. Most of us opted for sushi, but two of our friends decided to get Korean food and said it was good.We got seated in their version of a tatami floor room. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture, but there are basically big gaps under the tables so you can sit on the floor with your legs in the hole. It feels kind of like sitting on the floor, and is definitely a unique experience. However, for a nearly 3 hour dinner, it was very uncomfortable after a while. You are not allowed to wear shoes in the room, so make sure to remove them before entering. The biggest issue we had here was the wait time. Once seated, you view the menu and place your order using a QR code on the table. Admittedly, we did take a while to decide what to order, but after placing our orders it took an hour for the food to come out. Unfortunately, our friends that ordered Korean food received their dishes in about 20 minutes, but the rest of us had to sit and wait for the sushi to arrive. The dinner ended up lasting nearly three hours due to the wait time. The birthday girl ordered miso soup and a glass of wine, which also did not come out for about 30 minutes, until she asked a waiter about it. I have to say, the staff here is super friendly and definitely did their best to make up for the long wait! After she asked about her order, they brought her soup out right away and even gave her an extra serving of wine.I thought the food itself was pretty standard. I ordered:- Miso Soup: My friend really talked this up... it's just standard miso soup. Their version does not contain seaweed.- Texas Roll: This roll is quite large and packed with salmon, tuna, eel, white fish, avocado, and shrimp tempura. It's topped with just a bit of eel sauce, which I was happy about since I wasn't in the mood for overly saucy sushi.- Chris Roll: This roll was a more normal size and was made with tuna, kanikama, masago, spicy mayo, and topped with eel. I was definitely in the mood for eel on this night, and this roll really satisfied my craving! I liked that it wasn't too saucy again, but still had a good amount of flavor. Two of my friends got the nigiri sets and some of the marbling on the fish looked a bit questionable. Compared to other people's pictures on Yelp, the fish had much less marbling and wasn't as vibrant in color. I didn't taste any so I can't comment on the flavor. After we all finished eating, they brought out a bowl of matcha ice cream and a candle for the birthday girl, which was such a nice touch! Overall, I thought this was a pretty standard sushi spot and not somewhere I would go out of the way to eat at again. The staff really made the experience so much better, but considering the food and the extremely long wait, I can't say I recommend this place.

Made our second visit to DK Sushi yesterday and it was even better than the first time we stumbled upon it. The staff is so friendly, attentive, and professional; some of the best service we've had at an Austin restaurant recently. Everything we had was delicious and came to the table very quickly. Highlights were definitely the torched escolar, bulgogi, Mikey Roll, and the 69'er Roll. With the family having owned this gem for going on 35 years now, this place really feels like a piece of old Austin. Correction on my previous review - reservations are only necessary to dine in Friday and Saturday nights.

Made reservations for my boyfriend's birthday dinner here and overall had a good meal! My favorite sushi rolls were the Mikey Roll, Greenbelt Roll (very fresh tasting) and Japanese Bagel Roll (like salmon lox in a sushi). We also ordered dishes such as the japchae (very nice quantity to share) and beef short ribs (loved the sticky marinade). The restaurant itself is in an unassuming strip mall- doesn't look like much from the outside but very welcoming inside. We sat in the tatami and loved the setting! You remove your shoes before entering. Ordering is via a QR code but didn't bother us much. The servers checked on us frequently to make sure we had plenty of water and to answer any questions. The food didn't take very long to come out and we were encouraged to order all at once- the dishes came to our table at a good pace. While prices were a bit steep on some of the rolls, quality was pretty good! Can't say it was the most amazing sushi I've had but worth a visit imo if you want to have both sushi and Korean food options!

Good food and good service. I came in for a group dinner and we had such a fun experience. Since we had a large group we ordered an array of sushi. My absolute favorite thing on the menu was the Hama chili special. I will come back for this any day. Also the matchi ipa was interestingly yummy. If you're sitting on the floor they will ask you to take off your shoes, so expect that depending on your where you sit.

DK Sushi & Seoul Korean Restaurant is one of those restaurants that you have either heard &/or witnessed legendary stories of or have never heard of at all. DK Sushi & Seoul Korean Restaurant have 2 locations, with this one being the original. This has, is, and will hopefully continue to run as a family owned and operated restaurant. You can truly tell they care about the quality of the food. Every bite of sushi melts in your mouth, and every Korean dish they serve is an original family recipe. My personal favorites are easily the Galbi (Beef Spare Short Ribs), and the Soon Tofu Soup. The Galbi here has to be, hands down, the best in Austin. You're actually being served quality meat, not just oil and bones. Same for the Soon Tofu Soup! Perfectly made and plenty of seafood.I would highly recommend calling ahead to make reservations, even if it's for the same day. We've gotten lucky the few times we've done so.Note: since this is a small, family operated restaurant, please be patient and kind. If something is out of stock online, they may actually have it in stock, you just need to ask.
