Today I tried the brisket nachos at a school event. The chips were from a bag (not home made) and the cheese was canned. Aside from these points, the brisket was to be the star of the plate. The brisket itself had a pleasant smokiness to it, from this it was obvious that they brisket had been smoked for several hours. However, the canned cheese took away from the brisket. In addition, the brisket had quite a bit of fat on it. I give the nachos 2 stars, the extra star was for the owner who severed the food.

Was excited to try Dirty Glove last Monday night and I checked their hours to be sure they were open. Hours said 10 pm they opened so I went by at 10:30. There was a closed lot of food trucks. Nothing open. I drove out of my way about 20 min. Needless to say... 1 star.

I screamed like an excited, little kid when I stumbled upon a food trailer that serves the real deal, Michigan-style, Coney dogs in Austin! Screw your diet for a day, swing by Dirty Glove Midwest BBQ when you're passing Howard on I-35, and get yourself a straight from Michigan Coney (heavy chili and mustard), chili-cheese fries, and a Faygo. If Austin thinks Detroit-style* pizza is good, wait until they taste the real, Detroit-style food - Coney Island!***BTW, don't ask for Detroit-style pizza while in Michigan. No one will know what the hell you're talking about.

Over the years, I've made the rounds and dined at most of the 'big name' BBQ joints in and around Austin. And it's just My Humble Opinion, but the BBQ at Dirty Glove is as good as or better than anything I've ever had from Franklin's, La Barbecue, Black's, and all the rest. There's a menu, but Beef Brisket and Pork Ribs are the name of the game here. Brent gifted me a slice of brisket hot off the grill, I took a bite, and it was like a small religious experience came down upon me. When I go out in pursuit of BBQ, I always over-order. Because the saddest sentence in the English language is "We're out of BBQ". And also I'm from the school of thought that dictates that one should always be able to reach into one's refrigerator and grab a quick bite to eat. If that bite consists of leftover BBQ, that means we're all having a really good day.Yesterday there was but a single pork rib left in my refrigerator. And I ate it cold, leaning over the kitchen sink - I know, I'm disgusting - but I was indulging my primal solitary carnivorous man-beast nature. You can't do that with just any pork ribs. But you can do it with the pork ribs from Dirty Glove BBQ. And there was a *lot* of meat on that one single rib. There's a downside to this: I have to hit the confession booth this Friday, because anything that makes you say "Oh My God!" more than five times in ten minutes is pretty surely a sinful act of some kind or another. They offer two kinds of BBQ sauce, both have a notable molasses note that I found agreeable - but Dirty Glove serves the kind of BBQ that doesn't *need* sauce. They also serve coney dogs. I've gotta sink my teeth into one soon.Okay, in the interest of being fair and balanced and providing an honest (if unapologetically exuberant) review, there is a real downside, and it is that - at the time I'm writing this - Dirty Glove's hours of operation are a bit sketchy. I hope the situation is a bit more stable by the time you are reading this. But it's like a law of nature or maybe economics: whether it's standing in a long line, or waiting until 4pm Tuesday, or pulling into the parking lot and seeing a sign in the window that says "sorry, we're out of BBQ" and vowing to return tomorrow - laying hands upon the best BBQ takes real effort. I sometimes wonder if Heaven is a place where you can say "hey, let's go grab some BBQ" and five minutes later you're digging into a rack of amazing ribs. But "every day above the ground is a good day". And with some BBQ from Dirty Gloves, it might even be a *great* day.

So my friends and I got to Austin pretty late but we wanted some food and fast! Now I'm from Texas Houston to be exact so when I saw Midwest bbq I was a bit weary of actually trying it, but I'm glad I did! They're a black owned food truck ! They have a cute little set up with chairs benches and music! The food was tasty and seasoned well . Not saucy like Texas bbq but still worth the taste ! I will be back when I'm in Austin!

Found this little yellow gem a few weeks ago, and am excited to try more of Brents items! This guy has been slangin food for years. I remember him, his backpack and styrofoam containers from Saturday mornings at my sons barber shop... and now hes got himself a trailer in North Austin. Hes right next to Three Chicks Soulfood, on the west side of Howard lane, right before it goes residential into the Scofield area. The fries are homefries, and they're delish! My daughter loved her chicken burger, fish and wings. Super nice guy, totally aims to please your pallet!! We WILL be back.

BEST FRIED CHICKEN IN TOWNWe had the brisket tacos and fried chicken and both are absolutely delicious! The brisket is tender, moist and flavorful and the chicken is spectacular -- crispy, tender with just the right amount of breading and salt. Not greasy or heavy at all. Honestly the best wings I've ever had, and I love me some fried chicken! The owner Brent is super nice and thoughtful too. We will definitely make this a staple during our trips to the mall.
