Deckhand Oyster Bar

I was craving oysters so I went to my go to place for oysters... Deckhand of course! My favorite items on the menu is definitely the salted and pepper shrimp tempura . It's ALwAYS consistent and seasoned to perfection! The shrimp is always crispy and you get that meaty shrimp that's juicy and succulent inside! The bite with jalapeños grilled onions and shrimp along with Deckhand crack sauce is so good! The crack sauce is deckhands homemade sauce! They usually bring it to you but if they don't ask them ans they will bring it. First time trying there French fries here and I was so surprise how thin horseshoe perfectly seasoned fries they offer! The spicy Cajun boudin was SUPER spicy this time and I couldn't eat it. My mouth was in flames and I don't think I can order that again. This batch was spicy as hell. I was disappointed by the oysters because it wasn't fat and was pretty thin. I think it's because it's not super cold yet so the oysters haven't got milky and plumpy. I will come back to get oysters when it's colder... hope it tastes better then. 1 dozen was $24.99Do I recommend this place? Yes! I haven't found a more decent fair priced place than Deckhand. I'm definitely coming back to satisfy my oyster cravings!

I've been searching for something similar to Chargrilled oysters, this wasn't it. However, this was something different. The La Frontera oysters tasted smoked, although the it states crab filling, you can't really taste much since it's smothered with cheese. Cup of gumbo was alright, needed some seasoning a little bit and it has okra in it which can sometimes give it that slimy taste.Deckhand oysters were mediocre. Wasn't impressed much. Service attentive, I was checked up often by bar staff. Diverse atmosphere. Reasonable pricing on food. I enjoyed mingling with folks at the bar.

Driving through Round Rock on our trip to Killeen and found this oyster bar on Yelp. Had to stop and try it! Greeted by a super friendly host, and our server was really nice and attentive too. Started with just a cup of gumbo and it was so delicious, I was wishing I had ordered the bowl. Wanted to try out their cooked oysters so we had the sampler. They all tasted great but in the end we decided we like raw oysters best, so we had a half-dozen to finish it off. So glad we found this place on Yelp!

This place is so fun. Food: everything we had most delicious. My favorite was the fried okra. Everything was fried and seasoned to perfection. I want whatever seasoning they're using because it's addicting. They have a lot of cooked options if you can't have raw oysters.Environment/ambiance: it has a bar, but there are tables if you have kids. By no means is it a quiet environment, expect to see the games and whatever is going on on TV. They did this where they collected a dollar from everyone (you would write your name on the dollar) & whose ever name they drew on the dollar bin won the whole box of money. Very fun.Service: all waitstaff were very attentive & friendly. We asked our waitress for recommendations and she was friendly & funny. Definitely recommend.

We always pick Deckhand whenever we want a variety of oysters. Their sauce always takes them to the next level. The fried rice is normally pretty good too. It's normally busy and sometimes loud in the restaurant on the weekends so you may have to wait but the waiters are very attentive.

Garlic Shrimp: Shrimp, fresh veggies, rice. Comes to life the minute the sauce is poured over everything! Delicious balance and excellent fry on the shrimp. Sizable portion too. Definitely would order again!

Sports bar type spot but with seaside vibe and an extensive menu of primarily seafood items. Great items we had were the Drunken Sailor plate, gumbo, fried clam strips and hush puppies. The portions are generous and all of the seafood items were fresh and flavorful. Good selection of draft and canned/bottled beers, and a selection of wines. Plenty of parking. wr will definitely be back to try more of the menu offerings. Lots of TVs with sports on. Too noisy to describe as intimate but not so much to prevent having a conversation. Service was efficient and prompt.

I rarely ever give one star reviews but I am so disappointed in this place. The restaurant itself is insanely loud and a little all over the place which is something I can totally look past if the food is good. However, we specifically went in to get raw oysters and had to spit them out after realizing they were gritty and weirdly fishy. They weren't as cold as they should be and now we are dealing with a stomach bug with non stop throwing up. I wish I knew that this place doesn't have a good health rating prior to eating raw food here. My sister got the papaya salad and it was absolutely inedible. We are very adventurous with food and oysters is one of our favorites so it is not about the flavor or expected fishiness. On top of all this, the food is priced ridiculously for what you get. I don't think any of us finished our entree after the oysters. I don't recommend anyone to go here. Quality of food is terrible.

My first time at DeckHand but not my last, it reminds me of Louisiana. The atmospher and service is very good. The food is very good too. The Diablo Shrimp appetizer was so good and has just the right amount of spice, the grilled onions are a nice touch. I had the Deckhand garlic shrimp, it was delicious, especially the garlicky Asian sauce. my husband had the Deckhand Sea Platter, it came with 6 huge butterfly shrimp, crispy oyster, tons of fries and hush puppies! The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality and amount of food!
