Day Maker Half Day Cafe has taken the bones of an old IHOP and completely revitalized the space into something fresh, bright, and undeniably inviting. My first visit was an all-around win. The atmosphere buzzed with energy, and the dining room felt cheerful and welcoming--a perfect spot to kick off the weekend.Service was top-notch, with our server, Stephanie, running the show like a pro. She was attentive, efficient, and genuinely friendly, making the experience even better. We lucked out with no wait, but by 9 AM on a Saturday, a line had already formed--a sure sign this place is quickly becoming a local favorite. Now, onto the real star: the food. Everything arrived quickly and was cooked to perfection. The eggs were fluffy, the bacon and sausage packed with flavor, and the pancakes? Absolute perfection--golden, airy, and just the right amount of indulgence. This spot is an easy yes for anyone looking for a solid breakfast or brunch in Austin. Already looking forward to my next visit!

First time here and loved it! Very colorful and nice ambiance. Great service and quickly delivered my Bloody Mary () and my food. I had the Chorizo Benny, cheesy hash browns and a single pancake for dessert. It was delicious! I'm a huge brunch/breakfast person so will be back soon.

Last month we tried to casually drop in around noon for Sunday brunch. Bad idea. The wait time was about 27 hours.Today we were smart. We got on the waitlist around 10 AM, arrived around 12:30 and were seated almost immediately. Our server was friendly, funny and, when asked for opinions, gave good, well informed ones and steered me right to the breakfast I wanted--the Hot Chick, which is a delicious, spicy, but not-too-spicy chicken sandwich. It's a big, well-seasoned fried chicken thigh served on a soft brioche-type bun with big cuts of bread & butter pickles, a good amount of mayo, and just the right amount of coleslaw. The potato wedges that came with my sandwich were also perfect. They were so dark I was afraid they might be hard or overcooked, but they were not. They were just right--well-seasoned, interesting, but soft and creamy inside. My friend was very happy with her fresh-squeezed blood orange juice and her Migas Verde, which looked, and was, delicious, she said. This place is very popular, and deservedly so, so if you're going to try to eat here, I'd recommend coming in early, or on a weekday, or getting on the waitlist a few hours before you want to eat, unless you're willing to stand around and wait for a long time.

I don't know how new this place is but it was packed when we got there. We made a reservation an hour in advance and the table JUST opened up when we got there. The food was decent but we had to wait 40 minutes for our food to come out. They had waves of managers coming out to apologize who I appreciate that they were trying

Daymaker is a new breakfast concept from the well known Jack Allen's kitchen. It is a very festive super busy breakfast restaurant in south Austin. In ATX, breakfast choices are abundant so there must be something great to get big crowds like these here. The inside of the restaurant is bright, loud, and vibrant. The menu has an interesting twist to many common dishes. Migas plate with verde salsa, Hangover enchiladas topped with a fried egg, huge thick pancakes, cinnamon rolls served in a big iron skillet, and a few options for eggs benedict. I had Chorizo Benny, not over seasoned flavored, great poached eggs along with a biscuit. They also serve burgers, typical breakfast dished, and chicken & waffles. The bar is serving up many different coffees, espressos, bloody marys, several wine options and fresh juice drinks. You also get served a variety of different salsas to choose from mild to spicy. The service is also an excellent standout for this place. Servers are upbeat and filled with friendly conversation. Food comes out very quickly from the kitchen. Typical plate will be around $15.00. Servers say workday lunch crowd will also get busy with nearby offices. I have always enjoyed what the chefs make at Jack Allen's locations and you will not be disappointed with the menu selection offered here. This is a serious breakfast spot but just realize to get on the wait list early to beat these crowds.

Came to Half Day cafe for brunch with my siblings. They have a feature online that allows you to join the waitlist ahead of time which was pretty useful for our party of 5. They have a regular bar, coffee bar and plenty of seating. Our waitress was lovely, the food was good and we had a great time overall! Food Notes: -Biscuits are FIRE!!!!! Super flakey and soft.-Cinnamon rolls are ooey gooey and massive - we took half home. -My boyfriend wanted the chicken and waffles but after seeing that Day Maker had a separate waffle that's famous at the Fair, we ordered that with a side of fried chicken so he could have both. (The chicken and waffles comes with a different waffle) Only thing that was an eyebrow raiser was that the mimosa carafes are $23 but come out in a small glass. I can go to other brunch spots and get an entire bottle of champagne with a small juice will be $10-15 so was little turn-offy.

Wonderful new addition to the area! I was so excited when I heard the same owners of Jack Allen's were going to be opening a new concept here - and they delivered! The decor is funky and fun! I love how colorful it is and fun murals on the walls, great place for a casual lunch or to take the family! Also an ideal brunch spot. There is a coffee to-go counter at the entry if you want something quick, but I'd highly recommend sitting at the restaruant if you have the time. The food is fantastic - I tried the fried chicken sandwich and burger and both were very good. The only thing I was a little dissappointed in was their juices - I ordered a sunny juice which was orange with mint, basil, and other herbs, but really all you could taste was the orange. It wasn't as crafted as the menu made it sound. Still a great fresh juice, but with all their other drink options on the menu I would recommend trying something else (unless you are ok with just juice!). Ample parking and lunch on weekday they can normally accomodate a smaller party. Curious how busy this is on weekends!

Really solid brunch place. Wait time is so long though and food is delicious. A wide variety of breakfast food is available with some unique drinks. The decor is cute and somewhat eclectic.

Superb customer service! Every employee was smiling and very attentive. The food was amazing. I got the German chocolate waffle with pecans (but you can also get it without the actual pecans mixed in with the Nutella. My boyfriend got the steak and eggs and they cooked it perfectly to his liking. We got there at 8:30am before the rush of people came in. They have tons of booths and tables. They even have a heater out by the front doors for when it's cold enough. Overall 10/10 experience.
