David's Food

They really need to clean up in there. Came in for a Coke and a candy bar. Spent 7.00. No fresh food options. I won't be back.

This has typical convenience store stuff, but I did discover a new flavor of Kind bar that was delicious. They had a few lower-carb bar options, which was what I was looking for. Nice guy at the counter. Chill, old-style exterior. This neighborhood has lots of cute small businesses, food trucks and a library across from David's. I wish I lived there.

I love neighborhood groceries. I love them with a passion, and I want to preserve their sweetness forever. This one is glorious, and harkens back to the days in my childhood when we bought penny candy at a place called Yeager's. It is now called Patriot Mart or something hideously creepy, and it is full of fluorescent light, and the candy bars all cost, like, a whole dollar. Okay, I sound like my dad.The point is, David's Food Store is nice because, as everyone else has mentioned, the building is busted up in a fabulous way, the owner is really nice, and they stock little staples like beer and cigarettes and chips and candy. Good times.

This is an old neighborhood food store from back in the old days of Austin. The wood floors creak and bend. I've heard that there used to be a few of the David's stores around the South Austin area, a long time ago. Someone also told me that the wooden "David's Food Store" sign atop the building is historically protected, although they may have been lying.Random facts: They have a decent beer selection for a convenience store. There's a $5 minimum on credit cart purchases. I think the two friendly guys who work here are brothers.

My favorite convenience store of all time. Mainly because it's.... convenient. As in, right around the corner from my house. I go here almost daily for one thing or another- smokes, booze, Smartfood, cokes, whatever. Reasonably priced, SUPER sweet owners, open til midnight. Also the $4.99 bottles of Tisdale? Yes. Love it. Support!If only they'd put a disco in the empty building next door.

Great little locally owned neighborhood convenience store. I lived close to this store about 2 years ago and I still remember it very fondly. The owner works there almost every day, all day - he's extremely nice and accommodating, and even gets to know you if he sees you often. This is, of course, just a standard place to get cigarettes, beer, sodas and the like. I'm glad it hasn't suffered because of the P&K Grocery across the street opening.

These brothers are nice and helpful just make sure you have 5 dollars worth of stuff if you're paying with a credit card. They have a nice selection of food, sodas, chips, and candies. They stay open late until midnight or so...

Great selection. Had everything I was looking for from a corner store. Happy and helpful customer service. Don't listen to the bad reviews.

Nothing much to look at on the outside, but they've got just about anything you need, including good CA whites (chilled). Made my way there in a pinch several times while in Austin and they didn't disappoint. Also took Apple Pay which wasn't as common as I'd thought in a tech town like ATX.

The two brothers who run David's are always friendly and kind. "How are you?" as I come in and "Have a nice day" as I leave. Like folks have said there's a $5 minimum on credit cards, which isn't too hard to get to when you're buying a 6 pack of artisanal beer or a bottle of wine. We stroll over to David's for beer/wine whenever we need it, and delicious local brownies from Mary Louise Butters (YUM), Topo Chicos and the occasional cooking need (we're out of tomato paste and need it for soup, etc.). Always a pleasant experience, time to run in to sweet, quirky neighbors and get exactly what we need very quickly. We love David's!!!
