I was already a huge fan of Cosmic on SoCo and I'm equally impressed with what they've established in East Austin. They have such a knack for creating an entire vibe - the ambiance, indoor/outdoor flow, the balance between food options (tacos) and beverages (hot and cold). We arrived on a late Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. What I enjoyed observing was the diversity - it's wasn't all 20-something's though there were many of them. There were people playing cards, having conversations, reading a book, working away on their laptops - it was a cool sense of community and openness. I tried the spiked hot chocolate and loved it. I also tried a taco from the shed and it was quite good. My only one constructive feedback was to add more staff to the service team on weekends - the lines were long to order but having only one guy preparing everyone's drinks seemed a bit ridic on a busy Sunday.

Cosmic Saltillo is the perfect place to sit outside and enjoy the Austin sun! We came here for some drinks and appetizers before we went to some bars on East 6th. I ordered a watermelon cooler with tequila and my boyfriend got the house frozen marg. The drinks were super yummy and looked so cute! Then we split a brisket taco and some chips and guacamole. The taco was full of delicious, tender brisket and it was huge! The guacamole wasn't anything special and I wish it had some tomatoes, onions, and cilantro in it for some more flavor but it was alright. The vibes definitely made up for the average guac! There's tons of picnic tables, lawn chairs, and tables upstairs. Great for large or small groups. They had a DJ for some good music and vibes for a Saturday out. I haven't been here in the morning but I've heard their coffee is also really good. Would love to come back during the day to do some work and enjoy the gorgeous space. Overall an awesome outdoor space for drinks and close to lots of other bars and restaurants.

The Cosmic Cafe is nutso patooties! One of the strangest and most fun coffee houses in the city.* * *The Cosmic Cafe is in the epicenter of the Cooler Than Cool New East Side. The architecture is perfect for the job. This is a walled compound with a garden with a fountain, a main coffee house and bar with rooftop seating on top, and a side building with indoor seating where you can eat tacos.Nooks and crannies abound.Corners and angles and rolling curves abound. You can be upstairs, downstairs or generally all over the place.Wherever you are, there is something interesting to look at in all four directions.(Okay, maybe not in the taco house which is somewhat on the sterile side.Everywhere else is Keep Austin Weird Visuals.) Most of the seating is outdoors. The capacity of the establishment shrinks dramatically in the rain.Check the weather report before you go ...But on a nice day there are fewer more pleasant places to be.* * *The Cosmic Cafe wants to be a coffee house and a taqueria and a bar all at once.It tries to play three games at once.It scores one win, and two ties. This is not a bad record for a weekend stand.* * *The tacos are amazing.I am particularly enamored of their chicken tinga. However, I have yet to find a bad taco anywhere on their menu. The taco operation (and the architecture as a whole) make Cosmic Cafe a destination restaurant.* **The coffee house is a coffee house. They serve the same mochas and lattes you can get at 3,479 other coffee establishments in our fine city. But mochas and lattes are generally nice things to drink. No complaints from this boy about the coffee at Cosmic Cafe.* * *The bar is an odd case. The vibe of Cosmic Cafe is New East Side Yuppie. The drink menu is Undergraduate All the Way.They don't stoop to the godawful flavored brandies of the fraternity boy set. They don't particularly do shots. But their larger drinks could just as well be Sixth Street Shots. To drive the point home, the drinks are listed on wall signs in Day Glo paint.Kiss New East Side Cool goodbye. All the main bar needs is a mechanical bull.* * *The drinks themselves are not bad.Alcoholic coffee drinks figure prominently on the menu.Tread carefully if you venture into the alcoholic coffees. Some of what they are offering is genuinely dubious.Adding Gin to your Americano?I don't think so.They do however make an eminently respectable Irish Coffee.Irish Coffee at a lot of places is made with lousy coffee.Fortunately, at competing establishments, lousy Irish whiskey counterbalances the lousy coffee. The competition uses whipped cream to cover a multitude of evils.Cosmic Cafe's legitimate coffee making bona fides gives them a leg up in the Irish Coffee derby. The base coffee is good. They totally know how to froth a drink and use a decent whipped cream.Irish Coffee is still a weird idea. The coffee keeps you from being relaxed. The Irish whisky keeps you from being smart. So in the end, you are paying good money to be made nervous and stupid.* * *That said, if you want to be nervous and stupid in a beautiful place,Cosmic Cafe is the place to do it.The views will relax you even if the coffee won't.Really good tacos will ground you and help you maintain your psychic balance.

Visited Cosmic Saltillo as soon as I landed in Austin. A friend suggested we meet there before dinner. I arrived mid afternoon and the place was buzzing. Fortunately, I didn't drive; I took a rideshare so I didn't have to worry about parking. It looks limited to street parking.Cosmic Saltillo is a really neat place. There's tons of indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor space is massive and has plenty of shade. They serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic coffee, tacos, and more. The wifi is strong. Saving my appetite for dinner, I only ordered a drink; a boozy iced coffee. I don't remember the name, but it was creamy, but not too rich. Sweet, but not overly sweet, and quite tasty. I could see myself frequenting Cosmic Saltillo if I lived in the area!

LOVED THIS SPOT!! The vibes were absolutely amazing - super cute outdoor seating area, lots of dogs, and just so vibrant and lively. This is a great location to grab a drink, brunch, or snacks to come and hang out with friends or family, or even some light work.I really enjoyed my breakfast tacos as well, and they had many unique drink options. All delicious!

Visited Austin and was this place pop up as a recommendation. Not typically a fan of breakfast tacos but oh my! These tacos were amazing, I came back the next day to eat some more. The tortilla was so fresh and good, egg and chorizo were the perfect proportion. And the salsa was really the cherry on top! Will return once I'm back in Austin!

I absolutely love having a Cosmic location on the east side near where I live! It's such a versatile spot--perfect for working during the day, a casual date night, or even heading out on a Friday or Saturday night.I usually come here during the day during the week to work, and the atmosphere is just incredible. It's cozy yet vibrant, with plenty of space to settle in and get things done. The coffee is fantastic--last time I came, I got an iced coffee, and it was smooth and refreshing. If you're in the mood to indulge, their drink options are just as great. On my most recent visit, I tried a Ranch Water, and it was perfectly made and super refreshing.Cosmic Saltillo truly nails it with amazing vibes, great drinks, and a laid-back yet lively energy. Whether you're here for work or play, it's always a good time. Highly recommend!

Came to have a boozy coffee while catching up with a friend. It was a great ambiance and the service was very quick! The music was a little loud, but I believe they noticed it and turned it back down to a level where you could hear the person sitting across from the table haha. I regret not ordering any food because it looked amazing! But would definitely try it out on my next visit. Parking was a bit tight, but there is plenty of street parking that's close to the there.

This is one of the coolest and prettiest places to hang out and work from! Not to mention the staff are so friendly. They offer a good selection of coffees/drinks and sell tacos as well. I've previously been to their other location in Austin but fell in love with this one way more!

I came here on an event night with friends. The place was packed and lively. The atmosphere was fun and the venue is awesome. I love how there are seating hidden away so that you can have more hidden conversations. There is a second floor and a view to DT. On the way in, there is a stair case that goes to a Christmas themed room. It feels like Christmas already. There are Japanese water garden inspired theme through out. Definitely recommend people to come here for the vibe and atmosphere. For the drink, I got a mango-nada. It was pretty good and definitely recommend it.
