Egg rolls (not pictured) were amazing - very crispy! Wish I ordered like 12 of them. I also got the Mongolian Beef with fried rice (pictured) and it was good. However, I've been here before and gotten the Combination Lo-Mein and that was better than the Mongolian Beef, in my opinion. As other comments have mentioned, this is a takeout restaurant only BUT my food is always hot and ready to go when I arrive. The staff is very pleasant to interact with and I always leave with a smile.

First things first, it's important to draw a distinction between Chinese and Chinese-American food. China Dynasty falls into the latter category and for typical Chinese-American fare it holds up pretty well. It's a no frills, no dine-in restaurant with a diverse menu and hefty portions. Disclaimer- coming from California and New York, the harbor of great Asian cuisine, the expectations were high. We started with the steamed dumplings which were unfortunately a miss as the texture just felt a bit off and there wasn't much flavor there. The chicken lo mein turned things around. Lo mein can typically feel very greasy but this lo mein was flavorful and didn't leave us disgusted with ourselves afterwards. Last was the beef and broccoli. The beef had good texture (most likely through velveting) and the sauce was good as well. The broccoli was okay but it didn't hold the dish back at all. Altogether, China Dynasty is a great local restaurant that can help you scratch that itch when you need to and can hold its own amongst the sparingly few Chinese takeouts in Austin.

Ok, so let me start out by saying that the food is good! Not spectacular, but good. And the combo meal add on for $2 is great! HOWEVER - service is deplorable, and there might or might not be some health concerns. Yes, there is an example coming:My wife picked up food last night, and she noticed that it was a little expensive, but didn't really think about it until she got home. We found out that there was an extra order for sesame chicken in the bag that we did not place. So my wife called up the business, trying to get a refund or a credit for the overcharge. This should've been handled fairly easily: a quick, "oh sorry, come back next time to get your refund or credit". Nope.It was a 20 minute phone call (not exaggerating, it actually might've been longer) that became an argument. It ended with a "if you want your money back, bring me back my food". Seriously. I heard it: the phone was on speaker and that is what management ACTUALLY said. I don't know why they would WANT the food back after it has left the restaurant. What did they plan on doing with it? It was sesame chicken: so did they plan to throw it back in the pot and resell?! If this happens to other people, do they do the same thing? I've NEVER had a restaurant ask for food BACK. Pretty gross and I'm pretty sure that's a health violation of some sort. Or was it just pride? We're customers who order take out once a month - are they risking losing business because they didn't want to admit they had a little hiccup? SMH. Needless to say, it's a 10 minute drive to get there and after the 20 minute argument, my wife just wanted to eat and we had to start doing bed time stuff for our toddler at home. My wife and I looked at each other, like "what was that about?!" We took the hit and didn't bring the food back, and we don't plan on going back again.

Standard American Chinese. No better. No worse.Other Yelpers are correct that the vegetables are fresh. The dining room is closed for COVID - so everything is take out.Chinese food usually improves sitting in your refrigerator for a night or three -So this is not a problem. Some dishes are on the bland or ho hum side - fresh vegetables or not. That said, if I lived in far South Austin - I would be perfectly happy getting my American Chinese takeout from China Dynasty* * *Side note that applies not only to China Dynasty but to nearly every American Chinese restaurant in Texas.Sweet and Sour Pork used to be a wonderful dish.Sometime in the 1970s and 1980s it got ruined. It used to be made with a tart sweet sauce that was edgy and entrancing. The sauce could be clear or yellowish. Then one day - someone invented the bright red version, that is cloying, has no fruit/acid counter-element and is simply sicky-sweet.Most Chinese restaurants went with the bright red version - wrecking everything. There was a long period when Bamboo Garden was a holdout - sticking to the original fresher 1950's 1960's recipe.Ultimately even Bamboo Garden succumbed too.Dishes like Orange Chicken or Lemon Chicken have stepped in to fill the gap.But the original high integrity Sweet and Sour Pork was a sad thing to lose.* * *History note:Sweet and Sour was a dish invented in China rather than the United States. It was a response to the arrival in China of imported bottled ketchup.Chinese cooks experimented with what could be done with this new exotic ingredient - ketchup.Over time - sweet and sour sauce developed.Ketchup rarely appears in the recipe today.Maybe cooks interested in historical authenticity may want to find some of those late Qing dynasty recipes and bring them back. Not all the changes in the twentieth century have been good.

My family and I have had this place as our "go-to" Chinese place for the past 15 years. They recognize us everytime and are always efficient to give us our food. The dining room has stayed closed since Covid which we are sad about, but we're sure that there's a reason. Their food is pretty good, I could be picky if I wanted to but overall this place hasn't disappointed us.

This has to be the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Every dish I questioned what meat grade/part I was eating. The Dynasty brown sauce tasted burnt. The egg rolls were two different casings, and both were mushy. The sweet and sour sauce that came with them was that super red/pink gel consistency. The fried dumplings weren't crisp. They had a thick, chewy outer layer. Just bad. Really, really bad across the board. I regret wasting my money ordering from this place.

Sadly I will have to give this experience a 1 star. I've been going here my whole life which made this experience very unfortunate. I ordered a pretty big order from here and many things were wrong. There were no customers so I decided to go back in and ask for my right order. I was then told everything was correct when it clearly wasn't. The man at the front then proceeded to say "this must be your first time eating Chinese food". I felt like he was gaslighting me by telling me everything was correct when it so obviously wasn't. I would've felt better if I was offered anything like a discount the next time I come in, a refund on the wrong items (3 things), or even just cooking the correct thing I was willing to wait for it. VERY DISAPPOINTED and ended up throwing most of it away big waste of money!
