China Cafe has been a solid choice for us each time we visit. We decided to come here to celebrate Lunar New Year and order some traditional dishes. Though this place doesn't offer a full menu of Chinese dishes, the ones that they do offer are authentic in taste and rank highly among Chinese restaurants in Austin. They do have lunch specials during the week, so China Cafe could be a good place to stop by on your work lunch break. We ordered Kung Pao Chicken, Green String Beans, and Spicy Fried Shrimp. We also asked for hot water brought out in a teapot and tea cups. We could tell that each entree was carefully prepared, and the excess sauce was drained. We were given a large bowl of rice with a serving spoon to eat with the dishes we ordered. The food is excellent and we took home leftovers.Their prices have risen over the last few years, as inflation has also affected this restaurant. But compared to China Family or Mala Chili, China Cafe remains in contention for our dining dollars. They also have the added benefit of being located right next to a bubble tea shop, which makes them an easy choice for date nights.

Walked in, The restaurant mgr "Bing" as I was told later, was too busy talking on the phone , didn't acknowledge me as I entered, I stood right in front of him and he continued to keep talking. I felt insulted and so I left. I called back he answered and instead of apologizing, raised his voice on me when I politely told him I was the one who left. If no greeting and no seat offered , why would I bother to be fed by these people who don't care??followed by rudeness!!Frankly they can shove their food up wherever!

The chicken and broccoli was very disappointing. It had zero flavor. You can tell by how white it is. It was cooked well, but desperately needed seasoning and a sauce. The fire rice was decent though. The portion sizes were decent as well. 2-3 meals in one. I ordered the food over the phone and picked it up. I didn't have any issues. The customer service could have been a bit warmer on the phone though.

Discovered this place by being in the area and the food was great. We ordered Chicken Lo Mein, Orange Chicken and Wontons. The food portion is great and super easy to share. Our waitress, Jenny, was super friendly and helpful. We would definitely come here again and great customer service.

Food was good, but way over spicy for my taste. It took a while to eat my food with 5 or 6 refills of water. I probably should have ordered milk. The service wasn't great. The waitress did not attempt to smile or try to any sort of effort of customer service of any kind other than just go back and forth refilling my water. When taking my order, there want absolutely no smile or anything coming from her. Even when I smile to her, only then did she smile quickly and then frowned afterwards. Wow! The atmosphere was clean and well organized. I would go back to this place if I was in the neighborhood and I was starving. But it's not on my to do list again. I ordered my appetizer and then ordered my dinner. My pork wantons (appetizer) came with my General Tso Chicken (entree) at the same time. I was expecting the appetizer to come out first, then a few minutes later have my entree come out. It all came out to be a total of $20.03. Not badly priced.

Somehow at 5 pm, I was hungry enough to devour 5 dishes with my family. My sister dragged me here after having frequent date nights and takeouts. All the meat and seafood dishes are out of this world. It was my first trying fried duck, which came with the brown sauce. A similar experience to eating Peking duck, minus the wraps/baos. The cumin beef was so tender and flavorful. I enjoyed the kung pao chicken- plenty of meat and good crispy batter proportion. But my all time favorite dish was the battered salt and pepper scallops. I can't believe I've been missing out for so long, since I didn't know this combo existed. Normally I order salt and pepper fish fillet or salt and pepper squid. But it is my new all time favorite Chinese fried dish. It is a must try!

I feel like everyone needs a favorite Chinese restaurant in their back pocket in case you're craving some fried rice or lo mein on the fly and don't know where to go. I highly recommend here. Wife and I have been coming for years and even spent a few Christmas Eve Dinners here in the past (although if you're gonna eat there on Christmas Eve, it's first come first serve). This is our favorite local nearby Chinese restaurant and always enjoy the food.

Unfortunately the lettuce wraps were so spicy I couldn't eat them. Granted I'm fairly sensitive to heat but this was pretty bad.Uber eats wouldn't refund us either. My husband told me his Combo Fried Rice was pretty tasty so we would recommend that. Just a heads sup to the business.
