The back is the front and the front is the back here.You drive by the street address, and the restaurant is not even marked.Go around to the alley in the back and there is a welcoming parking lot, a huge sign and customers going in and out.* * *Chavelos is your basic Texas Tex-Mex restaurant.All the standards.Prepared the normal ways these things are prepared.As comforting as old bedroom slippers.You can find these dishes in thousands of places all over Texas.But you will do perfectly well having them here.* * *Two unusual notes besides the back is front issue.a) They have beautiful post oaks in the back-is-front back yard.On warm days, you can sit out there.I recommend it.b) They are massively generous with chips and dip.The initial bowl they give you is microscopic.But they are refilling that bowl constantly.Scoops of chips showed up at our table many many times during our meal.The chips are lovely.The salsa is no great shakes.Still, I ate 6,438 chips with dip.So the salsa can't have been that bad.* * *Altogether a pleasant place.The old standards are old standards for a reason.

Food was awesome! Service was amazing! Very clean and efficient place to dine! I've been here a few times while in Buda and every time I'm pleased with all I mentioned before!

First time to eat lunch at Chavelos. The food was good and the service excellent. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the jalapeño bacon wrapped appetizers. We will definitely go back!Support local restaurants in Buda!!

Kind people and good service! The chips and salsa had a classic flavor, a little kick if you eat enough of the salsa, and cured the craving. The highlight was the flour tortillas that were warm, soft, and tasted fresh. I had the Machacada which was good. I wish the meat was cooked a little more to give it more of a crisp/crunch texture. The bean and potatoes also hit the spot. The food overall was good but could have used a bit more seasoning. Great little place to pop into if you're hungry in a pinch.

Everything went well! Food is always delicious and on point with flavors! Fajitas are always good and tender. Service is excellent always attentive and friendly! Very chill welcoming atmosphere. Margaritas are always on point! Chefs kiss. A hidden gem in Buda,TX

Awesome food! Great service! It was so nice outside in the patio! I love the service and the fact that it's owned by a family, everyone there is super close and makes me feel so welcomed. I love this place and the food is top tier I personally loved it. Great service and food, definitely recommend!

Fresh tortilla chips with salsa that's not too spicy. Drinks and food are fresh a be flavorful. Prices are great and service is fantastic.We stopped by to give this place a try. Glad we did! Great food and texmex options. We especially loved the tortilla soup, the shrimp soup, the chips and salsa, the bacon wrapped jalapeños, and the chicken enchiladas. Friendly staff with quick service.

I love this place. It's definitely one of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants. Here's the thing that gets me. I LOVE Tex-Mex rice and beans. This place never fails, the rice and beans are perfecto. I've tried several dishes and it's always been great.

The scene: two stark raving mad volleyball moms in search of mimosas during our daughters' two hour volleyball break ON A SUNDAY MORNING! Nothing, I mean nothing, is open These animals were rabid. The seriousness of the situation can not be underestimated. (enter Yelp, enter Chavelos.) Yes, I entered mimosas into my Yelp search, like the desperate woman at the end of my rope who had been up since 5am that I was. Returned options were Cracker Barrel, three places that were closed and Chavelos. We B lined straight here, no brakes, with flashers on, mimosa emergency. (Parts of this story may have been fabricated for effect) Small little house with about 15 tables so we opted for the gorgeous patio under the ginormous oak tree. Also mindful that we would not disturb the other patrons with our weekend revelry. Quick service and a tasty, spicy Bloody Mary. Add in yummy breakfast tacos and you have a solid joint off the main strip in Buda. Ravenous moms = satiated! You win Chavelos! Give this Sunday savior spot a try!

I ordered the barbecoa plate and the meat did not taste good. The food came about 4 minutes after we ordered and three people ordered food with me. I thought they would cook the food once I ordered it but they just heated it up in the microwave. The meat did not taste very clean or freshly cooked.
