Would give 4.5 stars if I could. The restaurant was big but a little old and dated and sleepy. Servers were super friendly and warm. Had the chicken enchiladas and beef burrito plates, both were very good, just a little salty but didn't mind. The chips and salsa were excellent. Would return but not in a hurry to. Overall very good experience.

Ecstatic to have found Semitas de anis here! They are super hard to find these days. A food memory that I was so happy to enjoy again.

Love me some Enchiladas Tejanas from Maria's. Two beef enchiladas covered in red sauce and queso; tender carne guisada, rice, beans and freshly made flour tortillas. That's about as good as Tex Mex gets. Also loved the barbacoa plate with corn tortillas. Tasty on a Sunday morning. Service is friendly and fast.

Great place! I was a little nervous because of the other bad reviews on here.. but My husband came for the menudo. I had pozole and the kids shared a plate of chorizo. The meals were fantastic! Nothing was spicy only spiced with delicious seasonings. The restaurant is ran by all Mexican women and every one of them were so sweet to all of us! Very spacious restaurant and very clean!

Casa Maria is an old favorite of mine. The chips and salsa are good. I love the cheese enchiladas and on my most recent visit I tried the spinach enchiladas...yummy!!! I can't come to this restaurant without stopping by their bakery next door. They make the best pumpkin empanadas ever! The service is always great-friendly waitstaff who are attentive. The restaurant is casual with a relaxed atmosphere.

We used to really love this place. The people are still nice, the food is still pretty good, but tonight I got charged 17.99 for a plate of bean and nachos for a 9yr old. WTF. Beans. Queso. Chips. $17.99. (for context, my Al Pastor taco plate with rice and beans was 15.99). I'm sensitive to restaurants having to claw their way back from not only the pandemic, but inflation as well. That stated, $17.99 for a plate of beans, queso, and chips is taking advantage of your customers. (why do they not have a kids size bean and cheese nacho?). Pre-pandemic we came here all the time, and now I'm sad to say I will not be back.

I have had so much difficulty finding semitas de anis since La Mexicana closed in 2022. I was thrilled that Casa Maria indeed had some when I called on Saturday. They explained they don't ofen make them, typically baking them only when someone orders ahead, so I was extra pleased that they had a batch made. It is a special pan dulce that has so many memories for me - my mom grew up in McAllen and could easily travel into Mexico 50 years ago to bring back freshly made semitas. Thank you Casa Maria for keeping this traditional pan dulce in your offerings!

My wife and I tried Casa Maria for the first time to find a new place for breakfast. They had a sign out front saying they would be charging $.75 per egg extra, which is somewhat understandable with the current egg shortage. Unfortunately, when my scrambled eggs came out they were obviously re-hydrated from powdered eggs. Couldn't eat them. We asked the waitress if they were fresh eggs or not, and her only response was I don't work in the kitchen. Very disappointing to be charged extra for powdered product. We won't be going back. If you go, be sure to get a whole fried egg, so they can't substitute the nasty powdered stuff.
