CARVE American Grille - Central Austin

Carve is a hidden gem in central Austin and I highly recommend it for date night, company, business dinners, and any time you want to impress. The ambiance is very Austin-chic - a bit of cowboy mixed with a classy, upscale vibe. It's not too pretentious but comfortable. Right inside the door you can see the steaks being cut. This place is all about the meats! They also have great vegetarian and vegan options, too. We had significant difficulty narrowing down all the delicious choices from the menu! The hog heaven app was a huge hit. The tableside was quiet enough that we could carry on conversation comfortably. Our service by Forte was just right - not too much, not too little. When he told us it was part of the Perrys family, we were initially hesitant that it would have a chain store feel, but this place is very authentic and beautifully done. From the flatware to the lighting, it's a class act. I am in wine school and I was extremely impressed with their ample wine list, including many options at different price levels. They even have a wine menu for different tasting sizes and glass size options.We enjoyed a bottle by Rothschild. Our meals and sides were all perfectly cooked and delicious. The food really is the star here, in addition to the excellent service. We grabbed free parking literally right across the street and they had a cost-friendly valet option, as well. We will definitely be back and will be adding this to our date night rotation. Our only real issue was that there were sesame seeds on a dish that was not listed as an ingredient in the menu. My partner has an allergy but we were able to work around it. All in all, this is a winner. It's a great, central location with a great menu, great atmosphere, and wonderful service.

Carve is an incredibly nice restaurant. The steak is superb, the service was incredible. My only "meh" was this carve board -- for $200 you get this platter, which would be great if everything on it was great.The crab corn dog balls were not good at all, and tasted mostly of fried dough, with no filling. The shrimp was impeccable, and as was the steak. I didn't see any hog heavens? And the prime rib was just okay.I wish when it was dropped off we were given the run down of what everything was as we were just eating things and guessing. Great food though!

Ok, in fairness, I need a follow up here because the restaurant made it right!One of the members of my Ill fated dinner in that review, called the restaurant manager afterwards and the restaurant issued 3 $75 gift cards to us. They acknowledged that a large party that night used up all their resources and many other customers took a hit for it. I just used my gift card for a fantastic 22oz cowboy ribeye that was really good. Service was tip top as well. Alls good in the Carve universe and I'll be back for sure.

Second time here to celebrate my birthday! Five of us were seated at a round table. The restaurant was quite loud but pretty. Our server was great but the meal was slow coming. We shared the Wedge salad (oh the dressing was delicious) and the cauliflower pizza was terrific. Then we shared the smoked NY Strip, a filet and the salt & pepper shrimp. The seasoning on the beef is amazing! The fried shrimp were light and airy, as if they never touched the oil! Sides of burgundy mushrooms and fingerling potatoes were spot on. Thanks for the slice of choc cake for dessert. This is quickly becoming one of my of my fav places. Just wish it weren't so darn loud!

It's a meat lovers paradise. You walk in the door and there is a guy in a white coat cutting up a side of beef. Hell yea!Not every dish is a 5 but there is plenty to like and you will leave satisfied. The 5s for us were the French Dip sandwich, the Ultimate Ribeye Sandwich and the Friday NY Strip lunch special. Excellent portions, well seasoned and the meat was cooked perfectly. The 4s were the Wedge salad, Shrimp brochettes, and the lunch sampler. The salad was drenched in a very good dressing but it was way over the top. Dressing should highlight the salad not overpower the dish. The shrimp brochettes were kinda smallish and Ho- hum in terms of flavor. A little on the dry side. Same goes for the Sampler platter. Perfectly fine but it won't knock your socks off. Excellent wine selection and I like that they do heavier pours for only a little more. Service is top class. Friendly, fast and professional. We will be back.

Good food and good service. Stopped here for a quick lunch prior to a business meeting. The Fireworks Chicken was quite good,filling, and even came with a sparkler. My server Avery was very attentive and helpful. I will go back to try the steaks!

Walking into this restaurant we were immediately greeted with staff who showed us to our seats. The UT game just ended so the restaurant was mostly packed. Our server did a good job explaining the menu and familiarizing us with their specials. Our party was only 3 but we shared the carve board for 4. We had so much food leftover it could probably feed 5. The sides were amazing as well. The only thing I didn't love was the lobster corn dogs. They just weren't my thing. Everything else was fabulous.

Visited this restaurant during a weekend in Austin with my friends. The ambience was really nice.. service was kind of slow but I can see why, as everything was fresh. I had a mocktail for my drink and for my meal, I had the salt and pepper shrimp. It was pretty good but could have used some more flavor. My friends were both happy with their meals as well.

Enjoyed their Thanksgiving dinner menu! I have always had a wonderful experience and meal at Carve. When I saw they were having a Thanksgiving menu special, I made my reservation. Parking wasn't bad at all. There is a parking garage near by, but also street parking too. This is a residential kind of neighborhood, so it's pretty quiet. I checked in at the front desk. Since I'm single, they offered open seating at the bar or a table. I chose the bar area. It's such a beautiful restaurant inside. There is a large glass room where you can see a carver carving up the steaks just as you walk in. The bar is very nice too. High top, marble counter, very large area. Along the outside of the bar are lots of tables and a few TV's. Outside seating this time of year, is glasses walls with heaters. Otherwise, in the summer months the glass is gone and it's all open, just gorgeous in the summer. Today it was chilly and windy, so the glass protects you while you're eating. It is actually pleasant outside with the shelter glass walls. I looked over the cocktail menu while I waited. I decided on the Texas Tiki, which was suggested to me by the bartender. It's a rum based drink. It was really good. Nice flavor, and not too sweet. For the Thanksgiving menu, you can choose the turkey dinner or the prime rib. I decided on the turkey dinner. I also chose the butternut squash soup. The soup came first and wow, I make butternut squash soup, but it's never tasted like that! Soup was absolutely flavorful. When my meal came, I was so amazed how much food was on the plate. No way will I ever finish all that food. Turkey was nothing I've ever had before. Rich beautiful smoked flavor. Fresh cranberry sauce with a light tart flavor, fresh lightly steamed green beans and rich mashed potatoes and a soft fluffy stuffing. Remember when I said no way will I eat all that food. I did, and it was worth every single bite. I went happily home with a food coma. Service was fabulous too. I'm already looking forward to next Thanksgiving at Carve.

I really love this place! This was my second time here and both experiences were great. Came here for a work lunch and everyone enjoyed everything we ordered. We started with an order of the calamari and pork belly, both were great but the calamari is definitely better for sharing with a group. I ended up ordering the miso buttered salmon which was amazing. The salmon had so much flavor and was a good size. My coworkers got the ribeye sandwich, an Asian salad, the firecracker chicken, but the meal that impressed all of us was the chicken fried pork chop. That has to be the best deal on the menu hands down. The pork chop was actually massive, like everyone was staring when she got her food lol. She got it with the loaded mashed potatoes which were perfectly cheesy and salted too. Our server was also so so nice and did a great job accommodating our group. The restaurant is super cute with dim lighting, definitely a good date night spot. I would recommend this spot to anyone who wants to splurge a little on a nicer meal!
