I opted for the platter with beef shawarma that came with a delicious white sauce, rice, salad, and pita.The portion was large enough for probably 2 meals and the meat was delicious and paired wonderfully with the white sauce. Ordered ahead on line so the food was read immediately when I came but the location is a bit hidden in a corner and their lights for their sign were off so it was a bit hard to find, but nonetheless a great meal!"

"This is a great and proven restaurant to go to for Halal food. I usually get the combination plate over rice. The combination plate consists of gyro and chicken meat over rice served with a side salad (lettuce and tomato) along with white sauce and hot sauce. This entree is very good because the chicken is well seasoned as is the gyro meat. The rice has a nice flavor and the white sauce is a must for this type of meal! Service has always been satisfying here. You can't go wrong getting food from here. They've been consistently good the numerous times I've been here."

Let's not forget about the falafel balls.. I've tried Falafel at several different places around Austin, but the Falafel here is just on point every single time I order it!Outdoor seating only. The service is quick, no wait staff though, when you show up, you'll order at the walk up window and find a seat. They'll bring the food out to you!Some of the outdoor seating is fully covered, and some of it just has a large umbrella. So if it's raining, it's 50/50 depending on how busy they are whether or not you'll stay dry if you're planning to dine in. But they'll definitely be open regardless of the weather."

We tried three different plates, beef kabob, ground lamb and a chicken/gyro meat combo. All the meats were good, the beef gyro was our favorite of the group. The sides were hummus, tabbouleh, eggplant and house salad. The house salad was unimpressive, but the other three sides were deelish! We'd avoid the house salad next time around. Definitely 4 stars worthy, recommend Leyla's for a good Med meal."

"My Lebanese banker shared this gem with me, and I've been back twice in just one week... and I'm longing for more. Wanna go? It's owned and run by an attractive family of GREAT cooks. The food tastes home made. The atmosphere is super friendly. Don't be discouraged by its location on Guadalupe. Odds are you will find parking right on the premises.Do you like baba ganoush? I think Kabobzi serves the best. I'm stuck on it and cannot imagine visiting this restaurant without ordering it every single time. My paternal grandparents were from Lebanon, and my grandmother was a sensational cook. This baba ganoush was better than hers. It's served with small warm pita bread that's fresh out of the oven.Pair that with an Almaza, an excellent cold Lebanese beer or a glass of wine. The lamb kabobs are flavorful, moist and served on a bed of rice with a choice of sides that can include tabule (oddly free of bulghur wheat but delicious, nevertheless), and the coveted, prized, amazing baba ganoush. This is healthful food that is very reasonably priced and served at a central location that is friendly and even fun."

"I order at this place WAY too many times through UberEats but never in person. When I was having my car checked at Qualtech the other day, I pulled up Yelp to see what's nearby and thought hey, Halal Bros is so close and it would be so nice to actually see the location, environment and people who work there. And yes indeed, not only are items priced cheaper compared to UberEats, I saved an additional $10 on tips and delivery fees. It also smelled so good when I walked in and I wanted to order everything. And I almost forgot, on UberEats I could only order the over rice options but my husband is on Keto diet which could mean more work for us to pick out the protein for him. However if you order in store (the friendly staff told me), you could just do protein over salad and boom, that's my husband's perfect meal. We have had no bad experiences either online or in person here. I was impressed by how tidy the place was. The food is always fresh and overflowing, and we are going to keep supporting them by ordering those combo meals and hummus."

"C Boys is one of the best clubs in the nation (little known fact, Jack Black's favorite club in the nation - specifically the Jade Room), it's only be fitting that it have one of the best Halal food stands inside. Can't go wrong with the beef gyro; they may run light on the chicken late; but "some like it hot" and if you do all you have to do is agree when he asks or ask him to make the rice "special" and you will not be disappointed. I love spicy food but didn't feel like my hiccuping being mistaken for the wrong reasons and told him so; he made that rice as perfect as it gets; just hot enough to keep your eating till it's gone, and plenty full once it is. Five stars easy."

"Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon, a "post-COVID take out only" visit. We had a very pleasant visit with the owner, who walked us through many of the items on the menu. Being a victim of "Americanized" Mediterranean food, my ideas about what Med dishes were, what dishes were made of, and how dishes were really served, was way off. The great conversation led us to order probably more than we needed, but, hey, the leftovers were fantastic too. Lamb and beef gyro meats were seasoned well, balanced, the falafels (vegan) were great, and the baba ghanouj (try spelling that without looking it up!) was incredible. Pitas were fresh, light and delicious. We tried 3 of the 4 sauces on hand, tzatziki (another spelling challenge!), tahini and garlic, all very good.All the food was made to order and delivered to our car in about 10 minutes. This is a local business guy, working very hard to provide our area with 1st class Med-inspired cuisine. We loved it. Stop by and you will make it a regular stop too."

"My quest for a good Mediterranean restaurant continues. While performing a search on Yelp, Zaza Halal came up on a search. Since it was real close to work, I opted to give them a try. Upon arrival, I noticed Zaza had taken the place of another Mediterranean restaurant. The decor hadn't changed much, but the menu has. They offered the standard halal items over rice or in a wrap, but they included several burger items which surprised me. I stuck with lamb/beef over rice and ordered a side of Baklava. AH, the dish was great. The rice was flavorful and perfectly cooked, the lamb/beef was hot and delicious, and the salad was very good as well. Also, really enjoyed their hot sauce. Finally, my first meal was really good, and I am very interested in trying their hamburgers. It is a must if you are by the domain."

The beef dish packed more flavor and the chicken dish was mild.Aside from the tasty food, the atmosphere is so chill! "Great. Had the kebab and tikka plate. Made fresh so there was a 10 min wait. While waiting, Br. Mohanad hooked me up with some sample sized baklava! It was yummy and very thoughtful of him. The meal itself was tasty. Both the Chicken Tikka and beef kababs were nicely seasoned and succulent on the inside. The red and white sauce paired very well and the rice was okay by itself but mixing it with the sauces gave it that added oomph!Portion wise, it was a little too much for me for one sitting but not enough to satisfy 2 adults. Yes, there are other chains in Austin specializing in NY halal street foods that serve bigger portions at a similar price but at around $10, I just can't complain too much about this considering it still lasts me almost 2 meals and I'd much rather give my money to these small businesses than the larger chains.I will definitely be back to try some of the other menu items."

"This place used to be called Sumac Mediterranean Food, which Google says is permanently closed. As it turns out, it's not closed at all -- the owner just changed the name. The food is fantastic. Wanted some Mediterranean food for takeout and Sumac popped up. Only five reviews but five stars on Yelp. That was good enough for me. I got the chicken plate, my husband got the beef and chicken plate, and we shared some falafel and a salad. All delicious, very fresh. The sauces are perfect consistency and right amount of heat (for me.) Oh, and the guy (I'm guessing the owner?) is super nice. If you're on the fence, drive up, roll down your window and inhale. The smells are amazing."

From what I understand, it's a relatively new place, so there aren't many reviews yet. The food was absolutely delicious, and the rice was some of the best I've ever had.I ordered the chicken over rice plate, and it was simply amazing. The chicken was juicy and not dry at all. The plate also included fresh vegetables and two sauces -- one spicy and one mild. I finished everything to the last bite!I'll definitely be coming back. A big thank you to the team for such amazing and flavorful food. I'm not sure why this place isn't more popular yet, but it truly deserves to be. Next time, I'd love to try the wrap.
