"This is our Chinese lunch spot. The service is efficient and fast. They aren't the greatest on refilling your drinks or checking on you bit the courses come out pretty quick so if you need something you can ask. I like their sesame chicken and their egg rolls. Nothing special about their interior. They have a lot of seating and a big to go area."
"We are always pleased when we call in our order - they always are happy and pleasant when answering the phones! The food is what we like in Asian takeaway. I enjoy all of the various fried rice dishes. And tasty egg roles too. Everything I've tried, I've enjoyed eating.Pick up is a breeze. If you're at home already, delivery is speedy.A very good local restaurant that really deserves you giving them a try. And I think they'll earn your repeat business!"

"Great Chinese spot! Came here on a Friday night. The place was pretty full but there were a few tables still open and my group of 3 got seated right away. We all shared the Chicken Fried Rice, Eggplant and Minced Pork Noodles, and the Pork and Mushroom Soup Dumplings. I'd say the noodles were my favorite dish but overall everything was pretty tasty. Very glad I got to try this place!"
"I view Americanized Chinese food as separate from Chinese food - not necessarily because the flavors and ingredients are different but more so because they fulfill different cravings. While I consider soup dumplings or dim sum as comfort food, Americanized Chinese food feels more like a guilty pleasure. While Panda Express fulfills that craving very well, I like having other local options, and First Wok is one of them. The portions are huge and I think good for the price. My favorite thing here is their Crab Puffs (aka Crab Rangoons) - it is an extremely satisfying version of it. I also like their General Tso's Chicken and Sesame Chicken. Their Orange Chicken is okay but it's hard to beat the Panda Express version that forever stays in my mind. I've also tried the Sweet and Sour Pork but it is not done well here so I would try another place if that is what you're craving."
"Austin in the last few years has seen the arrival of at least 10 exceptional Chinese restaurants. While no one will ever confuse Austin with Vancouver or Flushing Chinatown,We have gone from being Chinese Challenged to being Chinese Serious.Bamboo House is one of the restaurants of distinction that is giving Austin nontrivial street cred as a place to get Chinese food. The clientele is 90 percent plus Chinese. At a recent weekend lunch, there was a one hour waiting list to get in.People do not wait one hour in line to eat at restaurants that are terrible.Okay - the weather was cold, so they did not have their customary patio seating available. But with warm weather - it would have been a forty minute wait to get in.Even if it was a two hour wait, it would absolutely positively be worth it.* * *Bamboo Hut serves Northern Chinese Beijing-Shanghai food, rather than the Southern Cantonese food we usually see. There is an additional fillip. They also serve non-Chili-oil Szechuan specialties.American Szechuan food is basically all red colored dishes with chili oil, chili oil, chili oil, and for a change of pace, twice as much chili oil. Those chili oil dishes are divine ...But that is like saying all Texas food has jalapenos.Just like there is Italian food that is not red sauce ItalianThere is Szechuan food that is not red sauce Chinese. They serve those dishes at Bamboo House.* * *About 1/4 of the menu involves unique dishes you can only get at Bamboo House.3/4 are very good renditions of other Chinese dishes you have had elsewhere.Staples such as Lo Mein and Generic Sauteed Vegetables are outstanding in their Bamboo House Version. They do a lot of dishes which are batter fried in an egg breading. Those dishes are super filling and super addictive. We got the equivalent of Sweet Potato French Fries with the special egg coating. We have been eating off that one order for several days.It was good times on Day One.It is still good times on Day Four. They do what they call Spicy Fried Chicken which is a superior version of a Chong Qing Chicken.Any kitchen can saute whatever in a wok with 600 zillion dried red chilis. The dish vastly improves when you do a superlative job on the chicken chunks and you make those both large and magnificently tasty in their own right. They don't bother with the usual garlic and ginger bits here - and they don't need to. The chicken carries the day. They have a lot of dishes that they serve "Szechuan". This neither means spicy, nor does it involve chili oil. This means sauteed in a savory brown sauce unlike the brown sauce dishes you get in American Chinese restaurants.Their lo mein dishes have a distinctive taste too ...So I wonder if the Szechuan brown goes in both dishes.Either way - Szechuan style is super good here.Get it with what ever meat or vegetables you feel like having.Their drunken chicken is to die for. This is steamed chicken chopped into random small pieces with a meat cleaver, marinated in shochu and served cold. It is obscenely good.* * *I am giving all this praise and I am ignoring two of the most important house specialties. The house specializes in Peking Duck.Avian flu has put dramatic restrictions on the supply of ducks that can be Peking-ed.So they limit how many ducks can be ordered by a given party. The ducks are pricy but they are probably worth exploring. They also maintain a live lobster tank.Every lobster dish they serve has two complete lobsters, and those lobsters are not small. The lobster dishes looked intriguing ...Even if my credit card was saying"You aren't really going to do this, are you?"* * *Practical note to keep in mind about Bamboo House.Portions are about two thirds larger than you are used to.These are not exactly double servings - but they are not far off either.I typically order the same number of dishes I order at other top of the line Chinese restaurants.I take home way more from Bamboo House than I do from more traditional establishments.Prices reflect the fact that you are getting more.Since what you are getting is pretty damm fine,Think of the tab at the end of the meal as an investment. You will be eating your Bamboo House goodies for much of the rest of the following week.* * *Happiness for half a week?Sign me up!"
"Without hesitation I give Twin Lion five stars. We've been here three or four times and have ordered takeout once (planning on a second round of takeout tonight). The food is really good, the employees are the friendliest I've encountered anywhere in a while. Portion sizes are plentiful, and prices are decent. They have quickly become a favorite for us."
"Its Breakfast Time Chinese Style!Prepare to go simple.Prepare to get full.* * *Chinese Breakfast looks a lot like Chinese Lunch or Chinese Dinner. There are however two key exceptions.a) You don't get a lot of elaborate banquet dishes. Much of what we eat in Chinese restaurants are banquet dishes.b) There is a heavy bias towards starch. If you are going out to get your work done, Then you want to get full. China is not Mexico where there is going to be a long languid lunch.Chinese workdays are long so it may be a while before dinner. So eat up now so you can spend your time doing what you have to do for the rest of the day.Breakfast fare is therefore simple and filling. While all sorts of food could be eaten at breakfast,Starches and carbohydrates come to the fore.Fried Rice.Noodles.Dumplings. (We Americans eat dim sum for lunch and for dinner. So do the Chinese, but dumplings are quintessentially breakfast food.)Congee.Americans don't eat a lot of this, but this is the Chinese answer to oatmeal. It is a good answer. They have other dishes as well if you are not feeling too starchy. But carbohydrates are the order of the day.* * *My wife and I had congee of various persuasions.I personally like a lot of innards in my congee.Pig parts and congee are a combo the way that bacon and eggs are a combo. No pig parts for my congee at Breakfast House.Boo hoo.We had various forms of beans and millet in our congees.Congee with beans is not meant to be a spectacular gourmet dish.It is supposed to fill you up cheaply and get you out the door.See black beans and rice in a Brazilian household. We weren't super excited - but we knew we were getting into that when we ordered those dishes. The tables around us had all sorts of intriguing noodle dishes and soups and dumplings and and and and and.And for that matter there were more exotic things I could have had put into our congee. So my wife and I being boring has little to do with the actual merits of Breakfast House.* * *I am eager to go back. The menu is huge and there are all sorts of intriguing exotic options. One note. When I say Chinese breakfast dishes are meant to be filling,I ain't kidding.Neither my wife nor I could get through the gigantic bowls of congee we were served.Next time, we would think about splitting one order.Or then maybe we wouldn't.Leftover Chinese Food is one of the secret pleasures of life.Load up and bring your take home containers to take the rest of your goodies home for the next day.* * *Thumbs up!"
"This is my go-to for solid Chinese food in the North Austin area. I recommend the gen tso (it's actually spicy which I appreciate, chicken fried rice, crab Rangoon, and pork dumplings."
"Wonderful food and great service well worth coming here it's amazingHaving next get together here"
"Wanted to try this place for so long since it's on my way home. I read the reviews while I was in my car before coming inside and thought I had not called to order and that it would take 45 mins, but no, it took 15 mins between ordering and getting my food, it was great (taking into account it was a Friday night)Place outside looks sketchy and all but the food was decent, more american than chinese but wanted to cross it off my list. I would go back to try another dish though..."
"As I was casually looking at the menu on the wall outside, I see this lady make a beeline for the door. There was no hesitation in her demeanor, this lady knew what she wanted! I stopped her right before she opened the door, I said excuse me is this place any good? She stopped and said "Oh yes it's like the best in this entire area! It's been around like forever, I've been coming here for years". So as we both walk up to the counter to make an order, she already had one waiting for her. She begins to chit chat with the man behind the counter like they knew each other by name, probably cause they did! Proof that she definitely has been coming here for years. At this point I'm like okay, this is definitely going to live up to her hype.So I ordered the Rice Clay Pot House special, cause that sounds different from my usual. There's also no way im leaving without trying the fried dumplings.Everything was amazing! I almost thought there was no rice (was at the bottom), that's how much meat and vegetables they put in my dish! I'm usually more of a fan of steamed dumplings but man these fried dumplings hit the spot as well. I walked out of that restaurant feeling like Buddha. hahaThe guys working the counter were very nice. There was no one really in the restaurant. It was kind of a ghost town which is surprising cause they had like 30 tables, I guess they have their rushes at certain times. Maybe when it's more busy they have waiters or something but it's kind of like self-serve. This place is worth checking out!"
"Yummy option for TexMex food right by UT's campus. I think I'm overly critical of TexMex food because there are so many awesome places to compare to, especially in Austin! Morales is easy and convenient, and it's overall a good option when you're craving basic TexMex. I ordered the 5 mini tacos. You can't mix and match different meats, so I got all beef. The seasoning was pretty basic, but they were still yummy. Fair warning- the green sauce is hella spicy! I love spicy food, but I poured it all over the tacos without knowing the temp and I was dying just a little! Prices are reasonable and the food truck area is really neat to sit and just chill with friends!"

I remember when Chinese food was a treat. Prepared with care and exotic. I guess those days long gone. At first I ordered a coke. It wasn't a coke, not Pepsi either. Some weird, sweet, carbonated something. I'll have jasmine tea instead. The wonton soup was heinous. I am guessing they dropped a single wonton from the fridge into hot broth. The wonton was chewy and undercooked, and the whole thing was tepid. The eggroll was ok but clearly not house made. My entree was sweet and sour shrimp. I would guess the shrimp is precooked frozen shrimp, then battered and fried within and inch of its life. So the shrimp was tough and rubbery. The bell pepper and onion tossed in were barely cooked at all. The freshest thing on the menu - crunchy. The whole experience was really a disappointment. And I got indigestion.

To go Chinese!!! It just hits the spot sometimes. This place was very fresh and I was taken care of by the owner. I don't think they are allowing dine in service, but call to confirm.

This place definitely needs to be higher on your list for soup dumplings! While visiting ATX, I randomly found it when searching on google maps and figured I'd give it a try based on the reviews. I was actually blown away. Everything we ordered was SO good (soup dumplings, combo fried rice, & sweet & sour dumplings). For the two of us, this was more than enough food and we were stuffed at the end. The wait wasn't long for a Friday night & I did notice they have the Yelp waitlist feature to put yourself on the list before you arrive so that's nice. I also loved how they give every table a pitcher of water. Overall, great experience and definitely will be back when I'm in town.

Amazing! We have been here multiple times, and every time we leave with our tummies full and our hearts happy! The food has been so flavorful, the quality consistent and the portions large... The wait staff is always friendly and patient... If you want Peking Duck, make sure you arrive EARLY! Usually they are sold out by early evenings...

I love, love, love this restaurant. The family that runs it is so friendly and kind. But the food is legit. Very good Chinese cuisine. I especially love the Wonderful dinner and the chicken fried rice. They have great delivery and are always fast and the food is still hot. I enjoy the lunch specials when dining at the restaurant and I love the convenient arboretum location.m, which has ample parking.

Wow, this place feels like it should be in Dallas or Houston because of how authentic it is. You can also tell a lot of Chinese and Taiwanese people feel the same because of how packed it is on a weekend morning. My friend and I ordered quite a bit, and everything was solid. We especially loved the congee, sweet soybean milk, and Chinese donuts. I'd probably skip the beef noodle soup because I'm not a fan of the noodle texture, but the soup broth is especially good with some chili oil. I also would skip the green onion pancakes. They're a bit too fried with not enough flakiness. Portion sizes are great, and food comes out very fast. We also ordered pig ear, and it came on such a huge plate. I love that Austin is growing its Chinese food scene so well! Absolutely a solid choice for Chinese brunch if you're in the mood. I want to try their chive and egg pancakes and fried rice dishes too in the future.

I came in to this location today for its soft opening. For non-local folks, this is the sister restaurant to the China Family Restaurant on Airport Blvd. For the local folks, it must be noted that because this is the express location, the menu is limited and does not have a full bar nor karaoke space like the original. Shrimp Fried Rice- The shrimp for this rice dish is tender and juicy. The shrimp used here is fresher than most dishes from other establishments that serve the dish by the same name. This is obvious because the flavor of the crustaceans are definitely there and the manner in which the rice is prepared is authentic Szechuan. Hot and Sour Soup- This soup did not exactly bring the heat that one comes to expect in a dish such as this one but it was still a quality soup. The wait- It must be noted that the food here does not come out expeditiously regardless if the name of this sister chain is called "express". Therefore, you may be in for a wait. If you are not patient, order on-line and come in and pick it up. #supportlocal

"Love Seven Spice! I was immediately greeted by a nice waitress as I entered the building. They have great lunch specials. You get a main dish plus rice and an egg roll, egg drop soup or hot and sour soup. Great portion size too for lunch. I ordered the chicken with mixed vegetables along with egg roll and hot and sour soup. Really great meal all around. They have roughly 10 parking spots out front. The decor won't overly impress anyone, but you don't come here for what's on the walls, more so what's going to fill your stomach."
"Ordered on their website and waited inside for pickup. Very clean, friendly, and tasty food. Prices were good also."
"**First time visitor** Just got home from picking up my online order and was blown away with the food preparation/packaging and flavor! Service was excellent I walked right in to grab my takeout order. Ambiance was clean and relaxing! I had to call the store to give them kudos when I got home, it costs nothing to be nice and restaurants like this deserve the recognition! Thank you Saigon 512, I will definitely be returning!"
"Tried Pho Wok for the first time. Ordered the combination Singapore noodles. The noodles were very tasty.I will be back to try more different dishes."
"Very decent Chinese food. I've been ordering and picking up food from this place occasionally over the last few years. They give very nice portion sizes and the food is always good. They make pretty decent Egg Foo Young, which is usually a good way to judge a place. Recently they fixed and cleaned up the restaurant nicely. Although you can eat in, they will serve in to-go packaging, so I've never eaten in. I'll be ordering from them again."
"I brought my mom here to check out the food truck for our Friday lunch together, and we were both very impressed by the food. We both got traditional Vietnamese dishes to assess how good they were, and they definitely passed our sniff test. As it turns out, they have a restaurant in Houston and are trying to expand into the Austin area. This explains why they were so good, since the best spots in Texas are in Houston and DFW.The food was super fresh and very well seasoned. Their fish sauce is very nice and light, not overly sweet or salty like a lot of them tend to be. It complements rather than overpowers the other flavors. The servings were very ample, and there was a lot of meat. It was a little challenging eating it all in styrofoam boxes, but that's true with pretty much all food trucks. The owners were super nice and friendly guys. We chatted with them while we ate, and they kept checking on us. There was a steady stream of people during lunch. A lot of it was take-out, but we really enjoyed eating there. They're in a food truck park on Dessau Road, and every truck has it's own cabana that serves as it's own private, patio dining area. Super cute. The day was pleasant, and they had a huge chilling fan, so why not eat there. We plan on going back again to try some of their other dishes now that we know they're legit and the quality is excellent!"
"Place was dirty. Hardware on persons face that waited on us was a little much. They need a good cleaning. Food was fine. Bathroom dirty too. They used to have a family member running this place.. I hope he comes back."
"I've had Xiao Long Bao in Guangzhou, NYC, LA, SF, Chicago, and Trader Joe's. And these rank above the Trader Joe's. They were decent enough, but nothing to write home about. Big issues were: no chili or any spicy was available. No soy or other sauce options like most anywhere else. Just ginger and vinegar. You'll see there's a soy sauce thing but that's as for the pork. Also the soup spoon was super small, so they couldn't properly hold the liquid from them. Only 1 type (pork)Xiao Long Bao: 3.5/5Pork cutlet: 1.5/5. - yo wtf was this. Too thin. Dry. They have me ketchup?? In the picture on the QR code you order from shows a sweet chili looking sauce and lettuce etc.. kinds like Japanese pork katsu, but this was just bad. Iced fruit Tea: 5/5"
"Very good take out. Recommend the Pad Thai and the egg rolls, including the veggie ones."
"Soo glad Correa came to Taylor!! We have had a really great experience the two times we have picked up food! I do wish they would hook up with Favor so we could get it delivered!"
"We were rather disappointed in Wasabi. From the beginning to the end it was in disarray. Parking was very tough and the restaurant was full in the doorway because of the takeout customers. We luckily had a reservation and were seated right away.A man dressed like a manger greeted us and took our drink order then ran off. The restaurant was extremely busy and he was the only server. I found that to be a very foolish decision especially since this was Valentine's Day! Let's plan better for the busiest day of the year shall we? We waited quite a while but then our food came. We ordered a sushi roll after getting our appetizers and dessert. Those took a long time so it's a good thing we didn't wait longer to order. We got our food and I unrolled my fork to find it was gross and dirty! Please polish your silverware before rolling them up next time.I wanted dessert and they were completely out of ice cream (green tea, vanilla, and chocolate!) The server told me they only had tempura cheesecake, I got it and I never expected scalding hot cheesecake! It was something I would not order again. Needless to say it was not the most pleasant dining experience."
"My eggplant dish was standard. Nothing extraordinary but it came to me served piping hot. The eggplant was a tad mushy and it lacked in basil (as I ordered), but it was eggplant, so I was fine.I asked for Jasmine green tea and they gave me a big ol' pot full of it and then refilled my hot water. YAAAAASS...Points for that. The server was very attentive. Almost TOO attentive. I was on a date and wanted a little privacy talking to my handsome fellow but we were interrupted a few too many times. However, on the flip side, I guess that's nothing to be upset about. I'd rather that they be too attentive than lacking in attentiveness altogether. We had the whole dining room to ourselves. I'm pretty sure the staff caught salacious conversation, but it was pretty sweet. And the price of the dishes was way affordable. 3 Stars"
"Update!I came in tonight after a long hiatus and the hostess greeted us very quickly and was a very warm hearted person. I believe their name was Macarena? (Sp) regardless I knew the night was going to be great considering it looked packed and Macarena seated us at the busy bar. They recommended The Business and darn do they have a palette! Delicious and they could work the bar if they work as hard as they do at being the host one day!Fast forward and the bartender named Harrison slung some drinks that would command men to battle. Proper pours and attention to detail on the cocktails.Xiao Mian and some mala chicken square up the meal with those tasty Rangoon!!! OMGSo to the management a few thoughts; consider Macarena as a barmaid since they are going places, Perhaps have them sing more - great vocals, and keep doing what you guys do best!!!Dope ass Chinese at its finest!"
"Youngest daughter, grandson, and I had lunch today at Saigon Quan. Lunch specials are very good, with reasonable prices.Service was excellent. Restaurant and restroom were spotless. Ambiance was better than okay.I had the lunch special with hot and sour soup and General Tso's Chicken.Daughter and grandson had Egg Drop Soup and Combination Fried Rice. Very generous portions. The only negative - the egg roll definitely needs work and I wish they offered Vietnamese Spring Rolls.Parking was adequate in this small neighborhood center at the corner of South Bend and Metric. Getting in and exiting the parking lot was easy.We are looking forward to our next visit."
"Always, best late night spot and the best person to run it! Best low mein, sauce and everything these late nights."
"KAPATAD is an authentic and family-owned filipino restaurant in austin. i'm so glad places like this exist because the food just reminds me of home. my favorite order is their lechon kiwali. i tried their special mango sago drink today and it was yum!! the owner and staff are all hardworking, sweet, and welcoming. definitely worth a visit."
"For the price, this place is really good. Very big portions and the food was amazing. The server had several options and was helping us with our imagination. You can taste the food with the way she was explaining it. Very casual restaurant. Not fancy or anything to be amazed by as far as the atmosphere. What lacks atmosphere makes up with flavor in the food though. Would definitely come back and try more of the menu"
"We have ordered delivery about 7 or 8 times now and Happy Dragon has become our new favorite spot for Chinese takeout in Round Rock. The menu looks just like every other Chinese restaurant until you get to the "Chef's Specialties" section. There are some real hidden gems here if you are looking for more than just general tso chicken and egg rolls. The Dry Pot Beef (or cabbage, shrimp, lamb) is incredible and extremely flavorful. And the Spicy Mala Fish Fillet is as good as any I've ever had. We used to be regulars at Sichuan Garden for many years, but their prices have increased beyond reason and we've found we can get our favorite Sichuan dishes at Happy Dragon. Delivery is always fast and cheap (often free) and we've never had a wrong order or missing item. Glad we stumbled upon this restaurant. We love it!"
"The food is always magnificent! I ordered Tekka last time and I always get the veggie dumplings which are delicious !The service is always good. The ambience is pleasant (it's always busy) and the location is center of Domain. Great place!"
"My mom and I went on a Saturday afternoon, it wasn't too busy. Which was nice for a casual weekend lunch. We got the Shrimp Dynasty and Garlic beef. + the scallion pancake, and shrimp spring rolls. Nicole was our waitress, who was amazing. She was kind and attentive. She spoke to us like we had been there many times before, Making us feel incredibly welcome. She did an amazing job at providing suggestions on what to eat, as well really delicious wine pairings. The hostess was super nice as well. The whole team who work here are fantastic. The food is super yummy. My biggest regret is not coming to eat in person sooner. As I had only ordered from the sushi menu for delivery. Please stop by! 10/10!"
"I stopped by last night to grab some food to go.....Let's go!Lobster fried rice Lobster fried rice has an amazing robust flavor. This lobster fried rice is made with lobster tails, jasmine rice, veggies, and a few other simple ingredients. The lobster is really designed to be the star of the show, but it gets a lot of help from all the flavors working with it in every bite. The lobster for the dish is a bit light on taste but as noted above the corn, onion and light spices make the dish work. In the future, I'd elect to purchase the crab fried rice as it may be sweeter in taste than the lobster. Salt and pepper shrimp The shrimp for this dish were tender. To achieve this tenderness, the shrimp must be marinated and after marinating, the shrimp are quickly blanched in hot oil until they are cooked through. This process forms a thin coating around the shrimp, sealing in moisture and preventing them from becoming tough or rubbery during further cooking in stir-fries or other dishes. The salt and pepper seasoning on the shrimp coupled with jalapenos, fresh carrot and onion took this dish up a notch. This to-go meal from order to packing took approximately 15 minutes (love the expeditiousness of this establishment) and costs $42.17 before tip. #supportlocal"
"Service was slow and they missed the mark on two out of three dishes. Wife's Pad Thai noodles were undercooked and the meal was bland. How do you take 20 mins. to serve and have food undercooked? My shrimp pho broth was unremarkable and the noodles were in a clump at the bottom of the bowl. Much teasing with chopsticks was required to pull the mass apart. Only 5 shrimp in the bowl. If you don't give a damn about the food you are serving, find another trade. Daughter's dish was good according to her. Chicken wings came last - was the appetizer, but not now! Wings were nothing to write home about, but at least they didn't screw them up.We've eaten at some great Viet places in Little Saigon. This place would not have lasted 3 months there.Never going back."
"Asian Express has opened up a small food truck on Rainey St. I live on the street and welcomed the new addition. My family ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken, low Mein beef, and kung Pao chicken and egg rolls. It didn't disappoint! The kung pao chicken was spicy and full of flavor! With generous portioning I could easily share for all three plates. The sweet and sour chicken would definitely be a great plate that's easy to eat and easy to share after a long night out. The low mein again hit with great flavor and spice. The noodles were delicious! The egg rolls were fried to perfection and about quarter sized thick. All in all, I will definitely be back again. I wish I had pictures, but we ate everything and had to leave a review after we picked it all apart."
