All Texas grapes, all vegan wine. Sounds like meh Fredericksburg, right? Wrong! Butaud's winemakers bring something more to the game. I have yet to be disappointed in a vintage. Their unassuming location is in The Yard off St Elmo, across from Vacancy Brewery. They managed to turn a warehouse space into an intimate and polished tasting room. Go grab a flight and let the staff tell you the history of each pour. Maybe grab a cheese board next door from Muy Yum! while you're there.

In a town that might be more known for it's consumption of Truly, White Claws and an overpriced cocktail in a "speakeasy", it's nice to see someone setting up shop with some incredible Texas wines. The place opened a few weeks ago in the same complex as STILL Whiskey & St. Elmo. It has a cool, industrial vibe, chill staff and mid to high end wine. Can't go wrong with a flight of red. My fav were the Tempranillo & Cease and Desist.

Wine tasting is a perfect weekend activity in my book and this place is the perfect place to do it! Cute, quaint, and full of charm with delicious wines to boot. Dog friendly. Covered outdoor seating and adorable interior spots. Also yummy snack boxes (charcuterie, cheese, olives). I brought my own gluten free crackers but would love if they offered some. We did the CL Butaud flight and really enjoyed it. I forget the name of the woman who helped us but she was super knowledgeable, so friendly, and made the experience perfect. I hope to be back soon!

Like the new tasting room and expanded hours. We've been enjoying Randy's wines for years, and the new releases don't disappoint. Thanks, Steven, for taking care of this visit.

Happy to find this little gem of a tasting room! We've enjoyed CL Butaud wines for a couple of years after discovering it at Antonelli's Cheese Shop. It's a shared space with Wine for the People, just off Fitzhugh Road, which is quickly becoming a brewery/distellery/winery Mecca. Whether you like white, rosé, or red, CL Butaud has what you want. Light and clean white wines. Crisp, but not sweet rosés. Love the BIG, BOLD reds. The Grenache and Tempranillo are both awesome! My favorite is the Cease & Desist, a 50/50 blend of Syrah and Tempranillo. We've been tasting wine for years near and far. This is the way it should be done. Best experience ever. Reservations encouraged. Get your own picnic table outside and enjoy your stay. The sommeliers are friendly and knowledgeable. The winemaker, Randy Hester, will likely visit with you and share his philosophy and insight into the process. 100% Texas grown grapes. Dog friendly. Outdoor games and food trucks forthcoming. Did I mention I'm so happy they've opened a tasting room!

We had a great time! Everyone was very friendly and the ambiance was neat! We got two wine flights and they even let us have a little extra. We were impressed with the wine they served us and would definitely go back!

Hmmm, not sure why this ever received 5 stars from anyone and maybe our group just expected 5* but this was completely lackluster after visiting a few of the others in the area and I can't consciously give this place any more than 3*. It didn't offer anything special. The ambiance and drive up was a shed barely decorated in boring farmhouse decor. A big she-shed with added lighting and insulation was the "fine" tasting room. Bleh. Menu was $5 bags of chips cut open for your convenience and olives. No thanks- just skip until they start spending $$ on tasting room and not on marketing to get you in there. Disappointing. Period, in case you didn't see that.

I cannot rave enough about this winery and the owners, Randy (also the wine maker) and Brooke Hester. The tasting room is very nice. The winery also has an the outdoor sitting area place, also very nice. Randy's wines are superb, easily outranking most competitors in the Texas wine market. Check out their website, and see all the places that carry CL Butaud wines, as well as all the accolades in top ranking state and national wine and food magazines. The Hesters frequently team up with local chefs, farm to table types, to create wonderful wine and food pairing dinners. Tickets to those events go fast! Stop by and visit Randy and Brook sometime, they're around quite a bit, definitely the "hands on" types, which explains a lot re: the quality of the wines and the overall experience at CL Butaud!

Excellent job with lesser-known varietals, like counoise and teroldego, as well as the Texas mainstays like tempranillo and grenache. Great service and a cool space.
