This place is legit. Like legit travel to Taiwan and get real authentic breakfast. They have the Sao Bing / breakfast pancake as well as the you tiao / fried doughnuts that taste super fresh. Dip them in the home made soymilk which is 10x fresher than store bought and its paradise. They're new so their service is nice and the vibe/ambience is simple and not overly decorated. You come for the food and simplicity.Payment wise - they're offering a bonus $ deal if you spend a certain amount on a gift card, something like 100$ gift card = 10$ bonus, 500$ gift card = 100$ bonusFor austin this is one of my new favorite. They're on point with their authenticity and while everything tastes good, there's still room for improvement. The sao bing we had weren't as flaky and fresh as if it was sitting out there for a while, but the fried doughnut was. I think they're still perfecting their craft so give it some time

Second time in. Grand opening crowds have faded and food comes out fast! Got some hot sweet soy milk and Chinese fried donuts (for dipping of course!) Donuts are hot and fresh! We also enjoyed some noodles with shrimp, and a pork egg omelet. All very delicious. If you like Chinese food and breakfast, come enjoy a special breakfast here!

Its Breakfast Time Chinese Style!Prepare to go simple.Prepare to get full.* * *Chinese Breakfast looks a lot like Chinese Lunch or Chinese Dinner. There are however two key exceptions.a) You don't get a lot of elaborate banquet dishes. Much of what we eat in Chinese restaurants are banquet dishes.b) There is a heavy bias towards starch. If you are going out to get your work done, Then you want to get full. China is not Mexico where there is going to be a long languid lunch.Chinese workdays are long so it may be a while before dinner. So eat up now so you can spend your time doing what you have to do for the rest of the day.Breakfast fare is therefore simple and filling. While all sorts of food could be eaten at breakfast,Starches and carbohydrates come to the fore.Fried Rice.Noodles.Dumplings. (We Americans eat dim sum for lunch and for dinner. So do the Chinese, but dumplings are quintessentially breakfast food.)Congee.Americans don't eat a lot of this, but this is the Chinese answer to oatmeal. It is a good answer. They have other dishes as well if you are not feeling too starchy. But carbohydrates are the order of the day.* * *My wife and I had congee of various persuasions.I personally like a lot of innards in my congee.Pig parts and congee are a combo the way that bacon and eggs are a combo. No pig parts for my congee at Breakfast House.Boo hoo.We had various forms of beans and millet in our congees.Congee with beans is not meant to be a spectacular gourmet dish.It is supposed to fill you up cheaply and get you out the door.See black beans and rice in a Brazilian household. We weren't super excited - but we knew we were getting into that when we ordered those dishes. The tables around us had all sorts of intriguing noodle dishes and soups and dumplings and and and and and.And for that matter there were more exotic things I could have had put into our congee. So my wife and I being boring has little to do with the actual merits of Breakfast House.* * *I am eager to go back. The menu is huge and there are all sorts of intriguing exotic options. One note. When I say Chinese breakfast dishes are meant to be filling,I ain't kidding.Neither my wife nor I could get through the gigantic bowls of congee we were served.Next time, we would think about splitting one order.Or then maybe we wouldn't.Leftover Chinese Food is one of the secret pleasures of life.Load up and bring your take home containers to take the rest of your goodies home for the next day.* * *Thumbs up!

No-frills restaurant with a good selection of traditional Chinese/Taiwanese breakfast foods and noodles. They mostly speak Chinese here. It had a decent amount of customers for Sunday lunch but still had empty tables available. Some of the food came out pretty quickly. I definitely liked my pepper beef dry noodle, the flavor was very satisfying. We came as a large group and the check situation was very frustrating. There were about 4 receipts for our table of about 15, and the food items had no rhyme or reason as to how they were split up. I don't know if it was by time the order was split up or if there were separate QR codes we scanned.

Wow, this place feels like it should be in Dallas or Houston because of how authentic it is. You can also tell a lot of Chinese and Taiwanese people feel the same because of how packed it is on a weekend morning. My friend and I ordered quite a bit, and everything was solid. We especially loved the congee, sweet soybean milk, and Chinese donuts. I'd probably skip the beef noodle soup because I'm not a fan of the noodle texture, but the soup broth is especially good with some chili oil. I also would skip the green onion pancakes. They're a bit too fried with not enough flakiness. Portion sizes are great, and food comes out very fast. We also ordered pig ear, and it came on such a huge plate. I love that Austin is growing its Chinese food scene so well! Absolutely a solid choice for Chinese brunch if you're in the mood. I want to try their chive and egg pancakes and fried rice dishes too in the future.

Better late than never - finally got to check out Breakfast House on a quiet afternoon. We had attempted to visit when they first opened in the fall but that visit was rough (ran out of all the basics). This time was good! The salty soy milk had the right flavors and congee was surprisingly good as well (fish congee). Youtiao, beef pancake was authentic. Overall happy BH is an option here in Austin!

This is an order from the QR code menu type of place which is great because you can see photos of the dishes. You pay at the end at the checkout counter. Typical ambiance for a casual Chinese/Taiwanese food restaurant. The staff is friendly and there was a little challenge with the language. I enjoyed the spicy wontons, beef congee and the fried donut. I'll be back again for these dishes. The beef wrap was not to my taste. At least with my taste buds, the sauce didn't seem to go with the wrap. Will skip this one the next time.

I'm not from northern China but it definitely seemed very authentic from what I could tell. Everything was tasty but for being a hole-in-the-wall/strip mall location all the way up in the Anderson Mill area, prices were a bit high. When the mixed vegetable plate came out, I actually thought it was one of the freebie dishes of pickled vegetables that you sometimes get at restaurants. Turns out it was just a small plate of cold veggies for $10. Aside from that though, I still enjoyed the meal. It's the kind of place I would bring my parents to.Also, I'm not sure how I feel about their "secret" 5% discount for people who pay in cash. I like it cuz I like saving money... but it's only written in Chinese so it's kind of IYKYK which doesn't seem super fair?
