I love it here! Very authentic and very Jersey, ode to the owner. My bagel is always fresh and stuffed with their homemade cream cheese! It's delicious every time and highly recommend!

Ordered a pastrami reuben for dinner one night and thought it was pretty ok. The meat is super moist and fatty which ordinarily is great but adding Russian dressing and melted cheese to the party made it almost inedible. The poor rye bread stood no chance of maintaining structural integrity and just have grease seeping everywhere. That and surprisingly the meat felt a bit under seasoned which I didn't think was possible in pastrami. Also tried some Italian style macaroni salad which made me wonder if they packed me the wrong thing since I was not expecting it to be mayo based dressing. Cool and creamy if you like your Mac salad that way but was just unexpected.Service is quick and the vibe is no frills but I think I'll continue my quest for pastrami in Austin.

This review PAINS me. We have gone here once a week for 5 years. The bagels have been incredible. We befriended the cranky old man! The quality has maintained as he has passed the baton - but their new bagels are trash. My 10 year old son, who eats everything was like 'I'm not full but I am not finishing this, it's bad'. I called and hoped this was temporary and sadly, it's not. They're new 'real Ny Bagels' and while NYC bagels can be the best, these are not it, they are just awful. I'm writing this in the hopes they'll reconsider! This is a family tragedy for us! We have been there hundreds of times, more than any other restaurant and have recommended so many people (even paying $30/dozen for their loose bagels!). I hope they go back!!!

Hell yes, this place was amazing!!!! My friends and I were doing a volunteer gig next door (no, not at the bar...the other way) and were hungry when we were done. Of course, I got on yelp and realized we were literally right next door to greatness! I look through the window and was like "hmmm, I dunno", but yelp has never lead me wrong. So, we head over there and everyone was so happy with what they got! I had the "superb hot sandwich" which was kin to a Philly cheese steak sandwich. Holy smokes, it was so good! Another friend had the lox and cream cheese bagel and she just raves about it. Great price, great place!

The bagel I had certainly wasn't fresh. I ordered an untoasted bagel with plain cream cheese. It was super tough, cold and stale. I'm not sure if it was an old bagel or if they are store bought but it wasn't pleasant. I'm guessing it would be passable if it were toasted but any place who sells fresh bagels should pass this test.

How do you write a review for this place? Terrific food at somewhat reasonable prices, but an owner that is well known for abusing customers and neighbors. After visiting, I was volunteering at the food bank next-door and he came in and yelled at them for supposedly having some of their volunteers parked in front of his place. (All as they are packing food for underprivileged kids.)And yet the food is good. Five stars without the attitude. Alas. Perhaps the mystique of the rude owner works in New York but it doesn't make for a good look here.Grow a soul, sir, life is beautiful and your neighbors are doing amazing things. Maybe take them some bagels and cream cheese every now and then?

Great bagels, weird-mannered staff. I found this place through Google maps, as I've been craving bagel sandwiches for breakfast recently. This location was about a 10 minute drive from where I was, and seemed like it had decent reviews and ample options to choose from. The shop itself is set up like a Subway/sandwich shop, but the seating is limited despite a wide open entrance. All the staff seemed huddled/stressed behind the tiny counter at the back of the shop. The cashier was quiet and polite, but the guy slicing bagels seemed pretty uptight (um, but it's a quite Sunday morning in North Austin? We're not in Time Square with tourists lining up around the block?). I ended up getting an Egg & Cheese bagel sandwich made with a garlic bagel. I was hoping the garlic bagel would have a stronger garlic smell/taste, but it had the texture of a tough, plain bagel. But there was lots of cheese and egg so for the price, I did get a fully-packed bagel sandwich!
