Baris Pasta & Pizza

This is the second time we have been here (moved to the area about two years ago), and the food here is really solid. The service staff is very attentive to your needs, helps with what is on the menu, and keeps you posted when the food will be ready. We ordered these huge rolls with some marinara sauce for appetizers - these things are huge, hot, and fresh yeast rolls with some herbs. So good. We ordered two large pizzas with sausage, pepperoni, and black olives. Very good pizza, and we had tons to take home in a box. The atmosphere is pretty generic but very clean with some nice touches. We will be back.

My friend and I got pasta for takeout from here, and in the less than five minute car ride with me holding the bag securely in my lap, both pastas had leaked through their containers. They should really fix their packaging. We both thought the pasta was alright. I got the chicken florentine, which is a chicken fettuccine alfredo with spinach and mushrooms. I normally really like fettuccine alfredo, and I thought the chicken was good as it was moist, but the sauce just tasted too heavy. My friend had the opposite issue as most of her sauce had leaked out, so she said her shrimp scampi lacked flavour. Even though a bunch of my sauce had leaked out too, it still had an overwhelmingly heavy taste. I liked the spinach and mushrooms though. Our pastas came with one roll each, and we each ordered an additional one. We really shouldn't have as this was way too much food. The rolls were very soft and fragrant garlic bread rolls. They were delicious although a little too oily.When you order online, they have a mandatory online order fee and a $40 minimum order cost. You have to meet the minimum order cost before tax, tip, and the fee, which seems unreasonable. Once we saw this, we ended up calling to place an order to avoid the order minimum and fee. This is such a weird system that essentially encourages calling to order, which is more work for the staff when there is already an online order feature. The actual menu prices are very reasonable though.

27 years we've been going to Baris! We actually went in opening day. We raved about the rolls, the lasagne, the pizza. Countless high school kids worked there over the years. It's a Pflugerville institution and rightly so! One can still get the daily special with a roll for about $10. Crazy. Like so many other Mom and Pop restaurants, we're not sure how long Baris will remain, so go while you can. Try the pasta sampler. For indecisive people like me, it's a winner.Open 7 days a week, Baris is a treasure.

Enjoyed Wednesday lunch special: Spaghetti with meat sauce, salad and roll $9.99 Salad was good but roll came out cold, but had them reheat. Spaghetti with meat sauce was sweet but no garlic flavor like the roll. Otherwise lunch was good, hence 4 stars. Will go back again! Owners should add more spices (garlic) to food.

The service was really good. I food was ok but nothing special. The pink sauce was underwhelming in flavor. I wish it had been spiced a bit more. One of our party ordered lasagna and said it was amazing. We sat in a booth close to the tv, which was not a problem until the kitchen area turned up the music in that area. It was hard to hear each other talk with the football game and music competing.

Wow this place has gone down hill, as I have been here many times over the years. Let's start with the rolls! Pretty sure they forgot the salt which makes them taste extra doughy! Then I ordered linguine with red clam sauce, it comes out with white sauce. Irritating but ok, I talk to the waitress who takes it back to the kitchen as ask them to fix it. The cook took the white clam sauce bowl added a little red and held it for 5 minutes to make it look like they remade it. I heard the bell ring and they brought it to me. I knew it didn't look right having been here before but tried to suck it up and just eat it. The more I sat there the I got mad just thinking how he tried to trick me. Finally I talked to the waitress and she got the cook to actually remake it. By the time it arrived correctly I was just fed up and wanted to get out of there. My wife had the baked ziti which also tasted like it was made without salt. Followed by my daughter's spaghetti and meatball that tasted like tomato paste on unsalted noodles. I am not a person who puts salt on food so it's not like I need a ton of salt.The front waitresses were very nice and helpful but the cook ruined family meal and I will not be back. At this rate I would be shocked if they stay open serving such bland food.

We asked Pflugerville friends for a good place for good, simple, not too pricey Italian, they sent us to Baris. A few bites into his Spaghetti & Meatballs, my guy said, "This is exactly what I wanted!" He did admit later on that the red sauce needed a bit more garlic, but really, can there ever be enough garlic?I was very happy with my Chicken Piccata. The sauce was a bit on the thin side, but the taste was excellent, with just the right balance of lemon and wine goodness, and plenty of capers.And then, there is the bread. It arrived hot out of the oven, and fabulous. Not your standard Italian white, but a lovely soft roll with an oven-browned top that I found irresistible. I ate an embarrassing amount of it, drenched in my slightly-too-thin sauce.My guy's glass of Pinot Noir was a very reasonable $7, and entrees were also well priced in the range of $10-15. I see they have $10 lunch specials during the week.Portion sizes were perfect for us--enough for a satisfying meal, but not a big pile to take home.Definitely a find. We'll be back.

I found out about Baris roughly 18 months ago and I have been addicted to their rolls, Bob sauce, chicken alfredo pasta and music!!! I had my annual birthday dinner at Baris instead of our usual trip to Estancia or Fogo. Great food. Great pricing and they can accommodate people as they arrive instead of having to have everyone present before you can be seated. The menu is extensive and I am forever a customer!

They have yummy, affordable pizza, friendly staff and extremely fast service every time!

They need to hire more staff. They were slammed and only two people on the floor. Phone's ringing, customers waiting 10 minutes at the counter. The pink sauce was good but spaghetti sauce tasted like plain tomato paste. The food used to be a little better.
