YumCha - Central Park

Great spot for happy hour. Servers were attentive, food was tasty and prepared reasonably quickly.

This is a review for takeout. It was our first time trying the spot since it transitioned from Cho Lon, which I loved. We ordered General Cho's dumplings (4 dumplings) and shrimp pad Thai, and the total was $38.70 . There is a 20% service fee which doesn't feel great when you're getting takeout and not actually being served.Anyway, high prices aside, the food was just ok. The dumplings were good, and the pad Thai was not what we were expecting. There was essentially no peanut flavor, and tasted more like pad see ew. There was one strong flavor, and no room for any of the other flavors (like the shrimp, noodle, or veg) to come through, even after squeezing the lime. Glad to have a locally owned restaurant in the neighborhood, but wasn't impressed and likely will not return.

Since 20% is automatically added to your bill the service was horrible. Our server barey check on us, got our order wrong.

Delicious, modern Asian food with a nod to classical European cooking.My wife and I ordered most items on the happy hour menu. We shared French Onion Soup Dumplings, General Cho's Soup Dumplings, Shrimp Cake Bao Buns, Pork Belly Bao Buns, Kaya Toast, Autumn Squash Dumplings, Salt & Pepper Calamari, Korean Hot Fried Chicken Slider, and Kimchi Fried Rice with Pork Belly. Some items blew me away more than others. What stood out the most to me were the General Cho's Soup Dumplings, Shrimp Cake Bao Buns, and Kaya Toast.Service was well-paced and our server was kind. We went early on a Sunday and we were the only ones in the restaurant until we nearly left. So the ambiance for us during that time was quiet and warm.

Denver Resturant week ended today, March 10, 2024. We don't always manage to partake. But, this year, after spending the last 7 weeks somewhat housebound due to knee replacement surgery, I said we are going. I checked a few menus for some favorite restaurants. The choice was ChoLong Modern Asian in Central Park. Obviously, a lot of others thought the same thing. Every day and time that I tried in the Open Table reservation site was filled. Finally we got one for tonight..The selections for Small Plates were quite varied. Pot Sticker, egg rolls, soup dumplings-both the French Onion variety and the General Tao, Kaya Toast, and many more. You could choose four items. For Main course, again the selection was vast. We ordered the pork vindaloo, and for an up charge, the Mailaysian Noodles. Both dishes we as good as we have ever had them.A most unique dessert item are the donut rounds, sugar coated and served with a scoop of mocha ice cream. A perfect sweet bite to finish off this wonderful meal was enjoyed.As we finished and were chatting with our server, I asked when the patio was going to open. To my total shock and surprise, she told us that ChoLon CP as were know it, is closing after tonight. There will be remodeling and another Yum Cha will be there instead. We have eaten at the downtown Yum Cha several times and the food is excellent. The biggest difference, I guess, I the overall atmosphere. Instead of an upscale restaurant, Yum Cha is more like "drop in for a small bite and a drink." (Or so I understand it.)There will be new ChoLon at Sloan's Lake in west Denver. It will be in the building Boat House. So, there you have it. We were so glad that we were able to drive just 15 minutes from our Aurora home and get to Central Park area. We certainly will give a try to the new Yum Cha in two months. By then, the patio will be open and we can still enjoy both varieties of soup dumplings. As always, tonight's service was outstanding. The hustle and bustle of a busy time was still and enjoyable occasion.

I've been waiting to try this place for over a year, and it definitely exceeded the hype. We decided to try out Denver Restaurant Week so we could try a couple of things. The dinner was the perfect amount for two people and I left feeling so satisfied. I could eat an absurd amount of those French onion soup dumplings, no joke they are one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, some really cool architecture and really cozy/inviting lighting. We came back for the bottomless soup dumpling night and it was unreal. All you can eat dumplings left me feeling unbelievably satisfied. Our server was working hard and made sure we got as many dumplings as our heart desires. We tried an array of cocktails, all of which were amazing. And the new crème brûlée dessert is also a must try.

The food was actually pretty good, but the service was terrible. Waited forever to be seated even though it was mostly empty.They were out of the tea we ordered so the waitress said she just squeezed some lemon into a different kind...? What should have been an hour long situation turned into 2 hours because no one would come back and give us a check.They add a 20% service fee and then specify that it isn't considered a tip, so please tip as well. For what?Seems like the good reviews are mostly from when it was Cholon and not the new place. For now, it's a downgrade. Also, maybe get rid of the booth stacked with dining chairs "hidden" by a wooden screen.

Went for first time since it transitioned from ChoLon. While some menu items appeared the same, the quality was definitely less. French Onion Soup dumplings were grayish and thick with slightly grainy dough. Bao slider dough was not fluffy as before and pork belly seemed tough, without enough sauce. Tried the shrimp pad thai and it was so sour - like too much vinegar or something! Not terrible but not great, especially for the price. They also include a service charge - of 20%! Server said that was for the whole staff and not a tip, and I'm fine with that when it's like 3-5%, but not 20%!! Made it hard to understand how to tip. The service was good and the ambience nice - they still have that amazing ceiling in the back, although the lights were harsh, but we will likely not return. Looking for the fourth iteration of this lovely space...

Food and service. Great. Dumplings, calamari, rolls for lunch very filling. Cocktails recommended by bar tender not too sweet. Would return if in the area.

Honestly, we're pretty bummed they changed from Cholon to this. The menu is pretty limited and our favorite items are all gone. I had hoped this was just because they were just getting things going after the relaunch (only one desert option?) but it looks like this is what they plan to have on offer. Note- most of the positive reviews are from before they changed concepts so make sure go to the YumCha website to see the actual menu to make sure it's what you're looking for.
