I've very high regard for this establishment on a number of levels. In doing so, I make note that long gone are the days when I attend later hour nightclub happenings. But having said that, X Bar has consistently established itself as one of the premier clubbing points in Denver -- without exception. The staff at X Bar is incomparable. My most direct connection with the establishment has been early evening visits. For a number of years, this was something of a neighborhood pub at that time of day. (I'd be remiss if I didn't specifically mention Wade A. in regard to his tireless efforts in creating a welcoming atmosphere for all at that time of day, and always for that matter.) It's no small feat for an establishment to be able to effectively spread the expanse of being both a vibrant nightclub and a pleasant neighborhood hangout at the same time -- but X Bar does it. X Bar is amazingly supportive of the Denver community broadly speaking. When organizations and projects are in need of support to pursue an endeavor, X Bar oftentimes is on the frontlines. (In the interest of full transparency, X Bar generously supported a theatrical production I'm involved with, foundational assistance which permitted the play to continue to run, including recently Off-Broadway. Projects like this and many others simply would not come to fruition without the diehard support of the folks at X Bar. Thanks to Kelela, Wade, and the owners.)Online review portals like Yelp are a minefield for any business. Individuals with perceived grievances relatively readily trundle onto these virtual venues to emote, whether a gripe is well-founded and fair or not. I did take a moment to take in what other reviewers had to say -- good, bad, and middling. I recognize the positive reviews based on my own experiences ... the negative ones, I do not. Cheers to X Bar and its dedicated crew ... and here's to another decade of success in Denver.

They had a drag show with a queen from the current season of RPDR that was great to see! It typically is a $5 cover charge but for the event it was $20. The atmosphere was supportive and safe. The upstairs still had a dj for dancing even though there was a drag show. I loved that it was still an option

This review is based solely on my experience during Pride. My partner and I had fast passes, which there was no bag check for. Instead the person at the door was upset that my wrist band was attached to my shirt instead of on my wrist. No one wants to wear them on their wrist for the entire weekend. The femme bartender inside skipped over me soo many times that even my partner noticed and asked me about it. No, it wasnt bc she didn't see me. She made eye contact with me multiple times. Just bc my partner is a masc enby, doesn't make me any less queer...the biphobia was strong af from this bartender. And to make the night even worse, I was drugged in the VIP section. Which from reading other reviews, it seems I wasnt the only one. So instead of getting upset that my band wasn't on my wrist, do bag checks for everyone!I only made this a 2 star instead of a 1 star review, bc the femme bartender in the vip section was amazing.

I've been a regular at this location since before it even became Xbar many years ago and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun time. Part neighborhood bar, part nightclub, if you are looking for Denver's hub for the LGBTQ+ community, this is where to go. The staff are friendly and the people are diverse. Drinks are reasonably priced, and the scene transforms by day as a place to relax and converse into night as a somewhere to dance and enjoy good music. If I had any recommendations for improvements, it's only one thing- I really enjoy the vibe in the afternoons where we chat with friends and enjoy each other's company. Lately, however, the volume of the music has been getting cranked up over the patio in a way that is driving folks out. I'm still here, but I just saw some peeps leaving because of that.

I literally bought a drink at 1:50am, and got told to put it down and leave (As did everyone else at the bar) at 1:55am. No last call, no warning. Literally 80 people outside to find and Uber with no warning. I've never experienced that level of disrespect from a security team in my life. Go to Tracks or Charlie's where you get treated like a human.

I am updating my review. I came here this evening and they apologized for the mishap a few weeks ago and made things square. Max took care of me at the bar. I am new to Denver and this was one of my first LGBTQ bar stops. I sat down at the bar and the bartender was talking to friends of his I presume. It was early in the evening around 7pm and it was not at all crowded. I waited and after about 10 minutes I politely asked if I could order a drink. He was friendly and served my drink but I closed out my tab (double the price then the next door competitor) and went next door to another establishment where I had a much better and cheaper experience. Maybe it was because I haven't been a local. But nevertheless it left a sour taste in my mouth and I have not been back since. There are plenty of other options in town.

I love xbar. One of the few gay bars in Denver that is accepting of women. They pour strong drinks for decent prices, have a good happy hour, beer bust during the summer is super fun, and they have overall pretty friendly staff. It is one of the safer spaces out there in the community where they are welcoming to all LGTBQ+

I want to love this bar so bad, but I asked the bartender 1 simple question, and she turned her back to me. Not once, but twice. (I asked what seltzers they served and she acted as if I was asking the chemistry of the drink.) I have worked in the service industry, and I'm a huge supporter of LGBTQ bars, but this service is just not up to standards of any bar or restaurant. Luckily they served food, and they have great ambiance. Hopefully this bartender was a bad seed and nothing more :)

This place has gone downhill drastically over the last couple of years. The events are repetitive, the drinks are okay at best, and the service isn't that great.During Pride month this year me and my friends had just arrived, we had already paid to get into the building and the bouncer decided to kick my friends out because they were flirting in line with each other while we were waiting in line getting our stamp/braclet to get inside.Fast forward last night we decided to give them another chance. While I was enjoying my time to myself and regulating my body after getting nauseous from the smell of cigarettes this security guard came up and told me I was getting kicked out. I wasn't asked if I was doing alright, they did not asses the situation and immediately went to kicking me out. I wasn't passed out or even drunk, I was socializing with nearby people and on my phone. This experience feels ableist to me and I hope that this establishment can do better. Luckily I had friends nearby to assist me with this situation.
