Wow, refreshing. Great service! Great foodGreat pricesI grew up in Denver and have always passed by The South but never stopped in. Today was the day.We walked in and down the hall, and it was lined with 1960 football cards framed with other memorabilia. We entered a total retro lounge/ restaurant . Dark and cozy. It felt good. It seems like all the new restaurants look alike, My wife and I ordered the chimichanga and chile relleno. Both were good. Prefer the egg roll relleno.I told the waitress we hadn't been in before, and she was patient and gave suggestions. She seemed truly happy that we were there for the first time.Service was spot on. Pretty wide variety on the menu. Prices are reasonable and that's why the place was packed. Looking forward to trying it again.

Being a Broncos fan my friend surprised us by taking us here. The signage was all about broncos and walking in the hallway they had broncos pictures. In the back area by the restroom they had pics as well and by the bar they had helmets. Other than that I've seen more Broncos memorabilia elsewhere and they don't even tote themselves as a Bronco themed restaurant like this place does. Nothing wrong with clientele who are neighborhood residents and elderly as I'm that way at an eatery i frequent. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was much to be desired. The quesorito which is supposed to be their specialty was bland and the "refried" beans were definitely bland bean soup. They did make a good margarita and the establishment seemed clean. I do wonder though why the manager or owner is not replying to our concerns. Makes you think they don't care what we think. Resting on their laurels.

I stopped in for dinner and a margarita. The house margarita was good, not super sweet or anything, and I'd recommend it. I got the carne asada platter and was satisfied. The food was well seasoned and tasted good. My only complaint was that the steak could have been more tender, but it was all good. The waitress was friendly and our food came out relatively quickly. Their prices are reasonable also.

I had a wonderful second experience at The South Restaurant! What a vibe. The bar is filled with locals and regulars 24/7 who are always engaging with the bar staff and return time and time again for their hospitality, strong drinks, reasonably priced beers and exceptional comfort food.Lainie was awesome. I manage fine dining restaurants and have a background in high-volume concepts for michelin restaurant groups. She knew the products, personalized the experience to me and my preferences, and was spot-on with checking in, despite a very crowded bar and a full restaurant when I arrived. I see why the locals return time and time again for her attentive and down-to-earth hospitality.The food was awesome. I never would have ordered a burrito with French fries, but alas this was Lainie's favorite and it really worked! The texture was spot on, the fries weren't over or undercooked, and actually added a lot to the "everything" burrito. I imagine this is actually not that easy to nail, especially at the volumes they are doing. I really enjoyed it. Chips & Salsa: delicious! And a huge indicator of what the food is going to look like. Attention to detail and flavor, but approachable for everyone (the hot salsa wasn't too hot, the mild was actually mild and had a lot of flavor). I eat a lot of salsa and finished two salsas... so if you're like me (salsa lover), order a second one!I'm a bit of a cocktail snob, and during my first visit (not with Lainie) was a bit sticker shocked on the price jump for a sweet and sour marg with Corazon. I had asked for Casamigos, but was given Corazon (they are the same price here). During my second visit with Lainie guiding the experience, I decided on a bartender poured rocks margarita (still with sweet and sour) but they were strong and $7. Their well tequila is 100% blue weber agave and not bad, so I wasn't excited to upgrade again. I prefer fresh squeezed lime juice in my margs and I'm always willing to pay more for it with a mid/decent Blanco tequila. At this place they do what they do really well, it's not a craft marg bar, so I had a better experience embracing it for what it is.I wish there was at least one mezcal in their bar program. It's my go-to. I get it may not be popular, but at least one bottle would be nice. Price isn't of consequence, but it is a growing category and there are a lot of fun/creative things that can be made with the spirit. Really great experience, genuine hospitality and fun sociable locals. Thanks Lainie, I'll be back... New Local fan :)

Helpful, friendly staff. Nice local bar. Great drinks. We shared fajitas. Too much food for two people. Look forward to returning.

I was really craving a fajita with all the delicious red and green peppers, and only had sauted onion and shrimp. Almost a soup. Great service from the only patio server for 30ppl.

Great service but the food was awful. Salsa tasted old and tinny like a can. Shredded beef, although plentiful, was dry, flavorless and tough. Green chili was bland too. Really disappointed.

Great tradition in the Denver area. I enjoyed The West more but this is just as good.
