The Mac Shack

Great customer service and I was able to customize my mac and cheese!Conveniently located at Edgewater Public Market. There is a parking lot but it gets full quickly, there is also street parking available. The Mac Shack offers several different mac and cheese selections! The menu is on a screen to the side and you can order at the counter with a tablet. I got the chicken and bacon mac :) It normally comes with siracha but I'm not a big spicy flavor person. There was not a place for me to make comments or customizations on the tablet but I talked to the girl behind the counter and she said she wouldn't put the siracha on mine. It was about 10-15mins.Very large portion! Hot and fresh! Gooey cheese and crispy chicken and bacon! I would defiently go back and try another mac and cheese option.The customer service was great! Very sweet girl and very understanding and helpful with my customized mac. I can't wait to go back and try another :)

I bought my mac loving son lunch here yesterday. Their kid's portion is $6 and pretty generous. He ate about half so we were able to bring the rest home. It was a big hit- he's been talking about how good it was off and on all day. My grownup's take on it is that is was good although I would have gotten a little tired of it if it was my whole lunch. But for a few bites or as a side dish it was awesome!

The food was absolutely disgusting. We got the lobster Mac with some pork belly in it and the cheese tasted like watered down Alfredo, pasta was bland, pork belly was very dry, and there was only 3 small pieces of lobster as seen in the picture. Very disappointed in the quality of the food and even more of how much I paid for this meal. Will not go again, I advice others to just skip this place and go to the empanada place next door.

I tried this place when Edgewater Public Market first opened and was not a fan (lack of flavor and poor service), but decided to give them a second shot yesterday during our visit since it had been a while and a new business will always have growing pains. Sadly, not sure I will return. While my mac and cheese was pretty tasty (I got the cheddar mac with green chilis), it took over 15 minutes to receive my order. For mac and cheese that's not even baked, not sure it's worth the wait. I will add that the business appeared to be significantly understaffed (maybe because of the holiday, maybe because of post-COVID life), so with proper staffing maybe that would help improve the service.

Let me start with saying this is so decadent. The depth of flavors in this lobster Mac were incredible. It was super cheesy but also light and airy. The only thing that made it not perfect was that it didn't have a lot of lobster and could use some crunch on it. The pasta noodles were cooked perfectly and I will be back again soon.

Inside of Edgewater Public Market I tried The Mac Shack. It is a sit anywhere venue with a variety of options. My family all got various dishes from a variety of places here. Highly recommend the location as it is very clean and everyone will be able to find something they want to eat, even the pickiest of eaters.Sadly, the dish I ordered I was not a fan of. The amount of lobster was minimal which was disappointing but I think what made it worse was that the dish seemed more like a soup than a Mac and cheese dish. I would have expected a thicker consistency and that might be influencing my opinion of the dish. There was a decent amount of flavor in pasta but the picture linked, is how much I had left when I just stopped wanting to eat it. Can't say I would order the Lobster Mac and Cheese again.The service was great though and the girl in the back was friendly, polite, and she seemed very much on top of her game!

For a Mac & cheese joint, this place was great. We had the bacon jalapeno 5 cheese, Mac n cheese. The order came out quickly, service was friendly and the food was super fresh. The Mac n cheese was creamy, flavorful and had the perfect blend of cheeses. The diced jalapeno and a little flair and the bacon pieces were savory.

I should have checked the reviews before buying anything here. The pork belly is very expensive for what it is, especially since it was burnt to a crisp. The fries were also cook in burnt oil and had an after taste/ strange texture to them as well. I don't recommend this spot at all unless you want only the basic Mac & Cheese with no add-ons. Otherwise, the regular Mac & Cheese here is really flavorful and the the buffalo sauce is good. However, anything else that is cooked outside of that might not be so great. It might just be the recipe/ how they've taught the cooks, but the meats come out over done and the chili is always mild even when requesting medium/ hot.

We ordered lobster mac ($17) & cheese, regular mac & cheese ($9.50) and french fries ($4) for our kids. The fries came with a side of dipping sauce and my daughter chose a cheese sauce. Once we got our food, our kids tried the cheese sauce and didn't like it and asked if I could get them ketchup. When I went to ask for ketchup, the employee asked me who I was and checked my order (she was very thorough). She reported that we had already received our allotment of fry sauces and that if I wanted ketchup, I would need to pay for it. Surprised, I said that I would pay for ketchup because my kids needed some for their fries. The employee then rang me up for $0.22 and handed me a cup of ketchup. When the employee saw that I was flustered (because I couldn't believe she was running my card for 22 cents - isn't it going to cost them MORE to run a card for such a small amount?) she said, "Ma'am everyone charges extra for sauces - even McDonalds." When was the last time this human has been to McDonalds? If I went to ANY restaurant and asked for ketchup (which in retrospect, I realize I should have just asked a neighboring restaurant) they would have given me a handful - AND RANCH! So, so silly. You serve mac & cheese people - your entire business is thriving because of young humans who love noodles AND ketchup.Update: I just read through all of the reviews and just saw that I am not the only one who has had an issue with ketchup! Oh wow, it's a thing. Now I'm laughing. Totally worth the $0.22 for the story. #ketchupscarce

I had the jalapeño bacon Mac I was so excited to try it as I don't eat pasta often...but man that bacon ruined my entire meal avoid the bacon, it's awful, tastes like fake bacon bits! It has chunks of very thinly sliced bacon but yuck. My kid and husband also hated it. My husband got the 5 cheese, nothing special and my kid got cheddar parmigiana, also nothing special and honestly both theirs tasted exactly the same. Honestly won't return here. Only positive is it arrived nice and hot.
