Love the rooftop vibes here with the beautiful views of the capital, but I still struggle with the area. I hope it comes back soon, but the city of Denver doesn't seem to be committed to cleaning up downtown (especially not this part of it) -- so I wouldn't necessarily recommend the hotel that houses this bar to friends/family coming to town. Take an Uber! The staff is wonderful and the cocktails and food are very good -- not quite exceptional or memorable enough for 5 stars, but definitely good for 4. My test is this: a couple of weeks later, what do I remember eating or drinking that I would come back for (and that didn't feel like "hotel" food)? The quail is what comes to mind most. So definitely try that!

What a great addition to the Denver food scene. This place sits on top of the new Populus hotel with stunning views. The vibe is more lounge than restaurant with the low tables, booths and drink tables. The outside patio will be a hot spot in the summer. It's a great place to dress up and come for dinner or drinks, you won't be disappointed. The service was professional and attentive, maybe a bit too fast. As soon as our appetizer was taken away the main arrived. I like a 10-15 minute break between. The food: The crudo was a nice refreshing dish, good for sharing and light. The quail was well prepared, the sauce was delicious. The sweet potato was another hit with smoky flavour. The grilled escarole was well executed and nice pairing for the game dish. The food was more simple, yet when you start with great ingredients, all locally sourced and do a great job on execution, you have foodie approved dishes. The only issue I had was when booking it was hard to tell what area we were booking and since we were coming for dinner the little cocktail tables and other seating looked very uncomfortable so we ended up sitting at the bar. I'm big on sitting comfortably for a meal and this was annoying.

We had a great date night at Stellar Jay. The ambiance is fashionable, and high end. The food is cooked on an open flame which is evident in the taste of the food. The melon margarita was phenomenal and the food was great! A little pricey for sure but enjoyable! The service was also great.

I came on Saturday night after staying at Populus Hotel New Years Eve. You check in on the first floor and take a dedicated elevator to the 13th floor. Stellar Jay occupies most of the floor. There was a 2nd check - in with a coat check. I was seated near one of the windows facing south with a view of the Denver City & County Building. The dining area is a bit dark. My table had a small lamp. The menu includes many flame grilled items. I started with colorful and sweet non-alcoholic beverage, Bluebird Smash. Very nice. Next was the slightly charred Raddichio salad with a large tumbler of their Jaybird Negroni. My entree was two meaty roasted quail. The quail tasted like a tangy chicken with a generous amount of sweet potato. You can walk up to the counter next to the open flame grill to eatch various meats and rainbow trout being cooked. My dessert was a large goblet of Baked Alaska with a flute of Italian Prosecco. The Baked Alaska had shortbread on the bottom, then vanilla ice cream, then meringue that was flame browned on top. A decadent dessert. I went out on the patio that will be a great place to be when warmer. The OpenTable app gives you the option to dine inside, at the bar or the outside lounge. I will be back to try other meats and the rainbow trout.

Come for the delectable selection of sustainable foods and beautiful cocktails, stay for the view. Never in Denver have I seen such attention to detail in architecture and it is a delight to sit outside and enjoy a cocktail and a snack at Stellar Jay. Really beautiful work done by the contractors and interior designers as well. We enjoyed a lovely prickly pear cocktail and loved the double sided bar. This is certainly going to end up as a hot spot for Denver. This is your memo to put this on your must see list for 2024.

Scored to check out this place early for something that just opened. Make sure to make a reservation though we were able to come in early anyway since the private event going on that night ended early. Small menu but they have pretty good selection! Server was very detailed and seemed very knowledgeable with the menu so don't be afraid to ask! Started with the melon margarita I suggest it with the tajin and salt! (They will give an option for the rim) Really good. The tequila did not overpower the taste of the melon. It was a perfect mix!Sweet potato: Love how soft the potato is, but the skin is very crispy! Perfectly cooked! If you don't like eating the skin you can easily peel it off.Potato slices were big. Def taste the fried capers adds on flavor!!Fall Squash Katsu:Lightly breadedI thought it was onion rings its actually the squash katsu Def not the same but just as enjoyable!Perfect texture! One out of the 5 pieces was a little tougher (didn't seem to be cooked as long as the other ones) but still didn't ruin our dinner. For the environment, the seats were definitely nice, simple and comfy. Aesthetic was really nice! Very earthy. The place was perfectly lit. The lights were dim but not super dim that you would need a flashlight to read the menu.Don't forget to check out the patio! I think it would really look nice especially when they set up the lights for the holidays! (If they keep it open) Overall really good experience! 9/10!

I was excited to try this new penthouse bar and I was not disappoint. The food had so many options, especially as a non meat eater there were plenty of vegetable options. The service was above and beyond. The staff was so friendly and offered great suggestions. If you can get a seat next to a window it's a really cool view of the city. I will definitely be back.

Amazing views, super uber romantic. The cocktails are not light, you definitely get your moneys worth. Staff was friendly and super knowledgeable of the full menu. Started with the roasted radicchio salad, the tempura mushrooms and the spelt pasta--the salad and mushrooms were tops--we literally ordered another round! For the main entree we went with the Colorado Beef and the Quail...holy mother of goodness, the quail was hands down THE BEST. The combo of saltiness on the meat, with the puréed cauliflower and bbq sauce was chef's kiss fabulous! We ended the night with a baked Alaska, that was a welcomed different take on the traditional baked Alaska. Lemon cake, with a pie crunch, lemon yogurt sorbet and a creamy delicious meringue as a topper--wow. I was floored with the various flavors. Fantastic job!!
