My check-in said, "When the Spirit Hounds you to drink to keep you warm" this is a place to go. Spirit Hound really means what their sign outside says - "Come on in. Hang out." Such a lovely tasting room in the Highlands filled with humorous and cute dog decor with a very chill vibe. Creative cocktails are offered and their spirits are proudly displayed in a giant barrel shelf behind the bar. Staff are friendly AND talented. They don't just mix the cocktails, they even offer cocktail classes every Saturday from 1-3pm and on Thursday evenings. Most cocktails will run you around $12 and are seasonal offerings divided up based on spirit (gin, whisky, vodka, other spirits). I had to try the Colorado Carajillo as the carajillo is becoming one of my favorite flavor profile drinks. The Apple Chai Moonarita was a fun blend of their Apple infused White Dog Moonshine, chai syrup, orange liqueur, and fresh lemon. Even though it was a cold drink it was perfect for the polar vortex weather outside and warmed me up. I will definitely be back to try more cocktails and test my skills at one of their cocktail classes.

5 stars alone for the hospitality and red carpet treatment. Add in award-winning spirits and a Colorado-themed atmosphere and you're in a local distillery daze of delight. This used to to be the old Mythology space, a distillery I still like to this day. They moved to Steamboat full time, and I was curious who'd take over. Normally, a new place comes in and you're longing for the previous business. Not here. Spirit Hound has brought their A game. They took over right where Mythology left off, and have exceeded expectations for their guests. They have a sizable cocktail menu with barrel selects of their spirits. It was a little too hot outside for me to stick to a spirits flight, but you bet your ass I'll be doing that when it cools down! I stuck with two old fashioneds, one with a bourbon and the other with a rye. They were both excellent!Major props to Vanessa, who guided us into whiskey bliss with her extensive knowledge of the brand and all the incredible whiskey knowledge she provided. They do, in fact, produce other spirits too, not just whiskey! It's nice to see this space alive and well again. Plenty of options for a bite from a local restaurant nearby, then head here for a nightcap. Or start your night here. Do your thing! Just keep it local and support spots like Spirit Hound!

Can I hear it for Vanessa? Seriously. 7 years with this company and her pride for the whiskey they produce and the experience they provide is beaming, and it truly MADE my experience at Spirit Hound. I'm a well "heel"ed (dog pun) whiskey nerd who's typically as skeptical of craft spirits as a dog is of the mail person, but Vanessa made that all fade in just a few minutes with the exceptional service and INCREDIBLE knowledge she shared. I had lots of questions and she was visibly excited to hear them, delivering every answer in the most gleeful way that left me appreciating the work done in this distillery and truly excited about it all. Best of all, as our conversation with her progressed over the the pours, she appreciated the sincere interest and found ways to heighten the experience with surprises along the way that catered to our level of enthusiasm.Seriously. Send her out into the whiskey world. She's one of the most prideful ambassadors I've come across in quite some time. On to the whiskey itself... I've been a fan of the American Single Malt category for a long time. For me, bourbon has become relatively boring, and this represents the next whiskey frontier to be explored. I enjoy celebrating those who have chosen to go in that direction, and Spirit Hound is definitely one of them with a lot of merit in their program. We started with a sample of barrel 401 which lived up to the eloquent tasting notes in the menu and then moved on to sample a few other single barrels of the ASM, followed by a cask strength expression and some rye and bourbon. ASM is where they shine and I really enjoyed all of the ASMs we sampled. The rye hit me in the right way on the nose but left me wanting a bit more on the palate, and the bourbon was a bit lost after the bolder flavors of the others.I'm in the process of backing off the quantity of alcohol I consume for health reasons and Vanessa was able to customize the flight experience to meet the needs and allow me to explore more of what this great distillery has to offer. The service and spirits, and I mean the whiskey and those of the staff here, were all at such a high level here that I can't wait to tell my friends in the area to visit. Truly a remarkable evening, due in very large part to Vanessa.

Such a cool place! They have a board of dog photos, the bartenders are smiley and nice, and the drinks are delicious. It's a new ish spot, and is filled with charm! The wood of the barrels everywhere and the displays are so cool. Gotta love a place that loves dogs. The whiskey itself? Carefully crafted and beautifully bottled. Tastes amazing in the cocktail too. Almost no bite at

Delicious and adorable. The details involved in making the authentic Spirit Hound cocktails was impressive. The decor is super cute as well, with fun little doggy details adorning nearly every corner of this distillery. They offer several events throughout the week here such as cocktail classes, bingo, trivia, etc. Spirit Hound definitely scores points for a great place for groups and activities in The Highlands. The barkeep was really good at keeping up with everyone's orders. NOTE - there are no waitresses here so you'll need to belly up to the bar to place your order. I tried the Spirit Hound's take on the White Russian - Malted White Russian. I also tried the Hot Peppermint Patty. Good beverages all around. The seating situation is great if you are on the bench side. If not, you are relegated to very uncomfortable bar stools - my only complaint. Would love to visit again in the summer when guest will likely bring their dogs to the "dog library". Will definitely go again when their drink menu is likely to change with the season. Hilarious!

So, back when this place was Mythology I came a few times and always enjoyed the libations, service, and ambiance. In that respect, little has changed since it became Spirit Hound. Indeed, it is a worthy "spiritual" successor. Lately, I have been coming for the comedy shows on Friday nights (put on by Cloudy Eyed). Service has been consistently good and so many drinks that I truly enjoy here. The harvest mule, the aviation, those are just a couple of the ones that I really enjoy. All of the classic, booze forward cocktails done here are also quite good.

Awesome craft brewery. Fantastic cocktails. Free live comedy.Dropped in for the free Cloudy Eyed Comedy show on a Friday evening. There was plenty of seating available and we parked on the street less than a block away. The comedy show was great. The old fashioned was great, just a classic. The Robert Burns was wonderful, but also very powerful (limit one per person), so be careful!

Spirit Hound has such a wonderful, welcoming vibe! My husband and I came here on a date night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had been here twice before when it was a different distiller and the look was pretty similar, but the overall feel was much more welcoming and the spirits were significantly better! Our bartender was super chill and great to talk to. We'll definitely be back!

My friends and I stumbled in for a quick pre-dinner drink and the bartenders immediately greeted us and made us feel welcome. They were so friendly! The excitement surrounding their grand opening in a new location was palpable, and it was fun to be a part of it.Two of us ordered drinks from their grand opening menu, one gin and one vodka, and both were delicious. It was hard to choose - they also had a pineapple rum drink and an Old Fashioned that I need to go back for. One of my friends asked if they could make her a alcohol-free beverage and the bartender was able to whip up a yummy concoction on the spot, which we appreciated!Overall a great little spot and a perfect addition to the neighborhood. We'll be back!

It's a rare thing in life when you encounter someone who is so dedicated to their craft that they transfer their passion on to you. But I must say we encountered this at this establishment today. The young lady who served us was truly an ambassador for the art of distilling. Spirit Hound is lucky to have her representing their excellent whisky. I am embarrassed I can't remember her name. Vanessa perhaps? We loved the whiskey and loved the establishment. We will definitely return.
