Uptown Update: Forget caviar and champagne - real royalty dines on ramen. And if you haven't tried Shin Yuu Izakaya's ramen yet, are you even part of high society? Serving first-class flavors while the rest of you are stuck in economy. Thank me later.XOXO, Gossip Girl

Very good shrimp tempura. The batter is light and fluffy and the shrimp is perfect. Very delicious. My one complaint is the shrimp are small. Each shrimp is 2 small bites. So not as large as you get elsewhere. And the smaller size means it's not as moist as the larger shrimp are.But otherwise perfect.

Wowwww I'm writing this review as I finish up my ramen!! This is quite possibly the best ramen I've ever had. I ordered vegetable ramen which was a miso sesame broth with fried tofu and tofu skin. My partner ordered Curry Ramen, and it was basically Japanese curry thinned out with pork broth. The broth was unbelievably tasty! The noodles were so fresh and chewy too. They have rice bowls, sushi, and yakitori too. They fly fish directly from Japan. I can't wait to come back and try everything else. I think this spot deserves a mention on Denver's top Ramen list! There are vegetarian options, not sure about vegan. I would not recommend this place if you are strictly gluten-free as I didn't notice gluten-free options on the menu. There is a large wine, beer, cocktail and sake list.

Their fresh, quality sushi was perfect for an intimate date night. Great for small groups and dates. I also enjoyed the Yakitori options they offered. Check them out! The yakitori beef and charred asparagus were great bites to go along with our sushi.Chefs choice sushi and genmaicha green tea, it was perfect. Thank you to Shin Yuu Izakaya for a lovely night. Your team took very good care of us.

3 1/2 starsMy daughter and a few friends rave about this place, so I decided to give it another chance. The space is small but charming, with a few tables on the patio. The food was good, though I wish their lunch menu offered more budget-friendly options. The ramen was tasty, the mushroom skewers a little bland, but the shrimp ones were delicious. My biggest issue was the service. Our waitress was not very friendly and only checked on us once we were almost done with our meal. Even though the place was mostly empty, she never looked our way, and we didn't get any refills on drinks. It's too bad, but I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.

Who knew that Downtown Louisville was such a cute date night spot? My partner and I drove over from Boulder to explore, debating between two Japanese restaurants. We decided to go with Shin Yuu to escape watching the election debate, though they were playing it on the giant TV. Welp.We ordered sashimi to share. I got a Rainbow Roll for myself, and he got the mushroom appetizer. All the fish was fresh and delicious - the sashimi was sliced into massive chunks. Would come back for that. I didn't like the mushroom appetizer, but that was just me.Our waiter was cheery and welcoming. There was plenty of street parking around the area. We're totally going to make our way around all the restaurants in this area, and I'd definitely come back to Shin Yuu at least for the sashimi. Maybe to try the ramen!

The best sushi and Japanese food in this neck of the woods. Very reminiscent of a Japanese Izakaya.

Best Japanese food I've had in CO since moving here, but it came at a steep price. We arrived shortly after the restaurant opened, so we were seated as soon as we walked in--opted to sit outside since it was a nice day. There were a few specials that caught our eye, but we decided to go with just 2 to start. Our order: 1 uni nigiri (special,) 4 pieces of salmon sashimi, caterpillar roll, salmon tempura roll (special,) salmon teriyaki lunch special, mackerel, and chicken liver yakitori. On paper that sounds like a lot of food, but it really wasn't. I mainly ate the salmon sashimi and the rolls, but that wasn't quite filling enough. Yes, I could've ordered more for myself, but then our bill would've been even more expensive. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious, except for the chicken liver yakitori (dining companion said that would be a hard pass,) but it just wasn't worth the price. All of our food was over $100 for lunch, and 2 of us left feeling kinda hungry. Not the best ending to a meal. Other than that, the service was decent. But would I come back if I were in town? Probably not, but I'm glad we gave this restaurant a try.

First time to actually step foot in downtown Louisville and was greeted wonderfully by Shin You Izakaya. In true form it is an izakaya: Small, quaint with a steady stream of energy. I'd like to sit at the bar next time to see how the sushi chefs are. I heard a couple laughs over there throughout the night. Right on the other side of the pony wall was our bar. Surprisingly quiet dining area that felt cozy. Can't say I felt entirely in Japan but it definitely feel nice. Our waiter Eric was amazing! Naturally I don't mention names and I usually dismiss it from the get-go but throughout the night he definitely made his presence known by knowledge of dishes, ingredients, drink refills and everything else.As if our service wasn't already spectacular, the food was equally amazing! We were saddened by the absence of hamachi kama though aka yellowtail collar that is a staple of so may izakayas and they ran out by the time we came. For being 5:30, that's definitely not cool but know how popular it can be. Judging form other photos they do it right so we'll have to save that for the next trip. The specialty rolls were great and even their nigiri hit our pallets just right. For the niku (beef) roll, they used a garlic butter that brought everything together. The seared tuna nigiri was also top notch as well. Everything including the salad did really well.By the end of the night we were bid a fond farewell until next time. While this restaurant is a haul for us for now it's definitely on the map and I hope their hamachi kama supplier takes note! Till next time!
