Drove cross county from California to this place. Mark and the rest of the staff are the epitome of the BEST GOD DAMN RESTAURANT staff. Now to the food, if that chef was wearing a T shirt that said "kiss the cook" someone would be walking away pregnant, just sayingThank you for an amazing experience

This is an all-new concept from Mark Whistler, formerly of The Goods! Taken right from their website: the new "Route 40 Cafe" is in the historic Bonfils/Lowenstein Theatre Complex, they promise a genuine roadside cafe experience surrounded by local culture and history, with a modern twist on diner cuisine. They have an awesome our large outdoor dining patio under the historic Lowenstein porte cochère. Take a road trip with them and enjoy "New American" burgers and sandwiches along with creative versions of diner mainstays like "Breakfast all Day" and daily "Blue Plate Specials". All perfectly socially-distanced, and the restaurant also features works of art courtesy their partnership with The Colfax Museum!I recommend the Colfax Poppers... deep fried jalapenos, Monterey jack cheese and bacon and also the Wicked Burger!

Wow, what a disappointment coming here.I would say this location can't catch a break but found out it's the same owner as the last big failure here, The Goods.Same problems, different name.I really felt bad for our waiter. He was good, likely training but doing an amazing job. It was very clear to us that the owner/manager (female dressed a suit with bowtie) couldn't care less about paying customers OR her staff who were trying to make it right.Check your silverware, plates and glasses...likely NOT clean.Place was dirty inside and out. Instead of assisting the staff, this manager person was instead standing around talking to a table of people she apparently knew and avoiding customers with valid complaints. Instead she walks away and makes the waiter deal with the issue (which he did very well). Our glass had dried tobacco spit in the bottom that would have taken a brillo pad to remove. As much as I'd like to support this business, this establishment continues to operate on a self serving model and will never again give them another chance.I'd also add, based on personal experiences they are not inclusive to all groups and walks of life. Sad since they seem to employee LBGTQ community members which I like to support.Note to waiter: please find an employer who respects you, all places are hiring. Go somewhere where you are valued.

covid has hit our local restaurants hard, so im trying to give extra love to the ones I really enjoy, and this was a great experience. Haven't been here since it was the goods, and the changes are AWESOME I have more vegan options for myself, and the spicy vegan mayo was soooo good. my boyfriend isn't vegan and had a burger and said it was one of the best, even better than it was when it was the goods. super awesome server, cute bartender ;) and I will be back!

This place is a hidden gem the staff are wonderful and the atmosphere is so relaxing. The food is awesome. Their pork bbq hash is so juicy as well and their wicked burger is mouthwatering. My family enjoyed the food so much. Their coffee is a different story way better than starbucks.

Hoping this place closes, only open when they think they might be busy, get normal hours like a real business. Nobody should have 4 different times in a week they are open, pick a time and stick with it.Tired of these fake hipster places robbing the community of its vibe and polluting it with overpriced "niche" it's not cool, it's not cute, it's not hip. Place belongs in a mountain town not a city

The owners of this restaurant have been robbing this neighbor of a decent place to eat for years. Before covid, they could hardly make a cocktail and the food was mostly forgettable. Since covid though, they don't even try to open their doors. The amount of times I've seen potential customers walk up and pull on the doors only to be let down is numerous. This place is a black hole on what's otherwise a vibrant part of Colfax. Colfax needs as much help as we can give it and it starts by pushing out business who don't care to contribute to the revitalization and vibrancy of the Colfax business district.

It was somewhat of a mitigating effort to comp drinks or appetizers which were not asked for, to overcompensate for painfully pathetic incompetence. Waiting 45 minutes for a round of drinks which only produced one, and then remind what the other orders are, water, etc. There were a total of three servers for three tables and still needed to bus our own table, remind (again several more times) what drinks needed--we had to make it simple because a Manhattan is too difficult.good luck lasting another month
