I agree with the other 5-star reviews on here - Queen of Sheba was a great find! We went on a snowy April night and were won over. My dad said it's the best Ethiopian food he's had (and he's - a big aficionado of the cuisine)! Everything (cooking, hosting, serving) is done by one woman and she dishes out some fun banter too. The service isn't fast, but it was such a nice experience - sharing a small dining room with a few other tables and one cook almost makes it feel like you're at a friend's house for dinner. I appreciate that they have meat and veggie sampler platters too.

After missing the Ethiopian food I enjoyed while living in California, I was pleasantly surprised by the options available in Denver! After debating between a few places for dinner, my partner and I picked Queen of Sheba. Great choice. Felt like having a home-cooked meal in someone's home. There seemed to be one person working. I'm assuming it was the owner.I picked the Lamb Tibs (as always) with Harar Beer to wash it down. Delicious, filling meal. Generous portion of meat with "sides" (forgot what they're called in Ethiopian) with more than enough injera to scoop everything into our mouths. We were stuffed by the end. I'm craving Ethiopian again already. Come check out Queen of Sheba if you haven't already!

We went with a group most of whom had never (myself included) eaten Ethiopian food. The restaurant is run by one woman. She is cook, server and host. We decided to order a vegetarian and a meat combo. As a group of eight we were barely able to finish the food. It was excellent food and an adventure to eat it. Not knowing exactly what each dish was didn't detract from how good the food was. We felt welcomed and looked after, even after we stayed beyond closing time. Overall this was a great experience and I'd highly recommend trying this restaurant.

Called the restaurant for take out and the owner (the sweetest person I've ever met) convinced me that I needed to eat in the restaurant and get the full experience. So glad I did. I was the only person in the restaurant and I got a chance to read the many articles on the restaurant and the history of Ms. Aboie. She is a treasure to the East Colfax community and I'm honored she convinced me to get the full experience. This is the 3rd Ethiopian Restaurant I've tried in Denver and by far my favorite. I ordered the meat combo and couldn't finish. The skinned chicken fell of the bone and so tasty (comes with hard boiled egg if you want). The stewed beef (Key Yesiga Wott) was amazing and first thing I finished. If you want to order one thing...this is it. The red lentils was also very filling and so good. The meat combo comes with Yatakelt Wott which is a stewed cabbage, carrots and potatoes. Prices have increased and not listed on menu. Just ask for the price if concerned. This is my favorite Ethiopian spot and will hope to be one of Ms. Aboie's loyal followers.

Wow, such a gem. I almost don't want to write a review alerting people to how great this place is but i want them to have all the business so i shall sing their praises.Queen of Sheba is in a strip mall with not many tables. But we walked in on a Friday and didn't wait at all. Still, a fairly steady busy crowd. Keep that in mind as you wait for your food as this is a small operation and the food is clearly made with attention and love.We started with the Fo-ol medemas, had some honey wine, and the queens dinner for 2. The Fo-ol was a great starter, as the veggies and feta was fresh and lovely. Honey wine wasn't overly sweet which is exactly how we liked it. It was made with unique spices and was light and refreshing. Lastly, the dinner course. We loved every component as each was made so juicy and flavorful. The only sad part for us is that this place isn't closer to where we live, otherwise we'd be here weekly. Check out this local small business and support, you won't be sorry! Also, the sweet lady was so kind. She loved that we finished our food which made the whole experience feel like dinner at grandmas.

Great service and food. I brought lots of first timers and they were also impressed. It's like home away from home -- very authentic atmosphere. Improve wine selection is only recommendation to improve.

CALL AHEAD. This business is a one woman show. Food is delicious and cooked from the heart. Be flexible with the menu - items subject to change on availability but you'll be pleased with anything you try! Also, amazing gluten free injera!!!
