This market is seriously my happy place. It's been way too long since my last visit I sure do miss living down the street sometimes. I picked up some tuna & hamachi sashimi - the quality is always stellar and the cuts are fairly priced. Stocked up on some other essentials like soup base, udon noodles and yakimochi. I love their selection of snacks, treats and drinks as well - they always have something new and worth trying. Check this spot out!!! They have something for everyone.

I enjoyed browsing this store immensely. It's clean, well stocked and has all kinds of different things to browse. They have an incredible fresh seafood counter with dozens of choices. The staff was pleasant and it's located in Sakura Square in downtown Denver. The parking kind of sucks because of the downtown location but it's manageable. The prices were reasonable and it really was pleasant to just be there and looking around.

Since I was already at Sakura Square, I decided to walk over to check out this store. This store is chock full of just about anything and everything you'd need or want!In Los Angeles, I frequent Asian grocery stores and this one is stocked comparable to those stores! They sell lots of fresh produce & fish. You can find snacks like chips, cookies, mochi & ice cream. They carry a wide variety of drinks like the Hawaiian sodas, Ramune, Calpico, Coffees, & Teas. Need dishes, clay pots, a rice cooker or any other small appliance? You can buy those here. TIP: Bring your own reusable bags or purchase them. CO charges for bags. If you don't want to buy a bag or two, you can ask for a free box! ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/pacific-mercantile-company-denver-2?select=qnvV_MQVFsVHVnPsGqpfiQ )Backstory: George Inai came to America at the age of 18. He lived in Sacramento, CA. George and his family were sent to an internment camp. After WWII, when he heard that Gov. Carr was welcoming Japanese-Americans to CO, he moved his family here. The first store he opened was on Larimer Street. This store relocated to Sakura Square in 1972. 75+ years later, the store is owned and run by the 3rd & 4th generation of his family. It began as just a Japanese market, but now you will find Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Hawaiian goods. That red circle window in front represents the red circle on the Japanese flag.I spent a long time checking out all the goodies here. If you are in need of a specific Asian item or ingredient, you will probably be able to find it here. If they don't have it, you can ask them and they'll try to get it for you. What a nice store with great service!

I love this place for a number of reasons. They carry a wide range of Asian products so it makes it convenient. For produce the truck comes in on Thursday, so shopping there on Friday, Sat or Sun are the best options. A little sparse when you get to Tuesday or Wednesday. The sushi is good and a great option for a quick fix. I just love coming to this place to browse, shop and eat. So happy they are so close to where I live. Highly recommend.

I go here for their fantastic candy and snack selection. They have everything even the hard to find stuff like melon pan, roll cake, black thunder, poppin cooking kits, melty kiss, every drink you've ever seen or heard of, Japanese cheesecake, ice cream. These things come at a PREMIUM price in subscription boxes and this store has it all! All this on top of being a full service grocery store with fresh produce and meats, rice, everyday staples. Everything you need to fulfill you eastern culinary dreams. I always wanna buy everything! The staff is great and always makes me feel welcome. Some much to discover every time I come here. This place is fantastic.

Ok ok ok!!!!! Why did I never come across this store in my annual visit to Denver? I was like a KID IN A CANDY STORE. This place is AMAAAAAAAAAAZING. While their store is on the smaller side as compared to the Japanese store I got to back home in Chicago, they have crammed in A LOT of variety in a store I think that is maybe 1/20 the size of the one in Chicago. And get this; crammed as in not messy. Super duper neat and tidy just like one would expect at a Japanese store.I don't know how the pricing compares to other Asian/Japanese stores in Denver but I will tell you one thing; nearly everything was between 20 and 35% cheaper than what I pay in Chicago. In fact, the variety they had in the osembe here was I think at least 2.5 times the variety I see in the Chicago store that is a monstrous place as compared to PMC. The folks working here too are super nice and kind. I had to kick myself for not finding this all these years. I've been going to the suburbs while living close to downtown driving 12 and 15 miles away and never be able to find everything I need. Can't wait to go here again.PMC: Arigato Gozaimasu

If you are in need of Asian goodies and live downtown, Pacific Mercantile is the place to be. They have a supermarket where you can buy fresh roe/masyado, shrimp, etc. It's not just Japanese goodies that you can find there; there's also items you need if you need to whip up any Asian recipe or craving you have. It's pricey but there's not a lot of Asian stores in Colorado so totally understand. Unless of course you want to make the drive to H-mart or out in Aurora, CO.

A gem of a grocery store. Curated for people cooking Japanese food. There's a home goods section toward the back with bowls, kitchen ware, stationary, etc. The dream is that this small corner turns into a Little Tokyo.
