My House Cafe

A relatively new addition to Monument, close to the UP store by Safeway on 105, this has a very family owned vibe when you arrive. After self seating, the waitress was immediately there to provide menus. We arrived at 8:30AM and had no problems getting a table, at this point the cafe was approximately 50% busy, when we left 45 minutes later it was more like 90% busy. So earlier is probably better.The menu is extensive with lunch and breakfast options. My son & I were attracted to the Skillets. I ordered the Mike's Skillet which had tasty sirloin smothered in green chili. The chili was spicy warm but certainly not a blow your head off warm. Rarely do foods smothered in green chili look the most attractive, but it tasted great. My son ordered the Sheridan Skillet which included ham, sausage and, mushrooms. This was a "lighter" option compared to Mike's Skillet and my son was very pleased with his selection. I think I preferred the Sheridan Skillet, my son let me taste it, but I enjoyed Mike's Skillet, I just feel that the lighter Sheridan is a better match for breakfast.The prices are ridiculously low but the food is comforting and sets you up for the day.Would I come again? Absolutely!Nice relaxed environment, great skillets, easy to find parking.

Talk about a real diner! Portions were huge - highly recommend the huevos rancheros (though massive and heavy) and the chicken fried steak and eggs! The biscuits are HEAVENLY. Service was good! It's a small homely place, packed with locals, and price are very cheap. I love a good diner.

Very good find for brunch. Their food is delicious and service is fast and friendly. We were able to get seats right away on a Saturday morning around 11:30 am. Prices are cheap considering the huge portions. They also don't skimp on the meat. I got a Mikes skillet with sirloin and my friend got a chicken omelette. Both had a lot of flavor. Overall a great brunch. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area.

We got the perfect table in the rear for a toddler and a newborn. Booth that could easily fit 6-7 adults. Food portions were plentiful and we could have easily shared the skillet meals. Had to get a biscuit due to other reviews and it did not disappoint! Service was good and when we left at 1pm the cafe was packed. The breakfast burrito had a great flavor but I think the skillets looked to be a much better dish. Would definitely recommend and go back. Had a great local vibe so that means a lot.

Great small town cafe. Friendly and responsive staff. Haven't had a bad meal yet. One of our go to places.

2nd time in, this time for lunch. Good selection of options. We chose to share a Green Chili Burger & fries. Appreciate that they split the burger for us and gave us two plates. The chili has a good, rich flavor that is not too spicy- a touch of back heat. Fries fresh and crispy. We'll be back!

Holy WOW! I thought I knew huevos rancheros. I ordered these with over easy eggs and tortillas. Little did I know that they were going to bring me as treasure hunt on a plate! Hidden in my green chili was delicious refried beans, and crispy hash browns! That's right...CRISPY hash browns coated in green chili magic! They made this gringo's morning! The service was fast and friendly, and the coffee was perfect. The price was good. I look forward to my next visit. What a great mom and pop gem this is!

We had to wait an hour for our food and it was served cold. During that time the waitress did not refill our drinks, or asked if we needed anything. The staff was more concerned with take out orders, which constantly left the restaurant.

I went here a few days ago with my family and when i tell you it was amazing, that's an understatement! we got there and the environment was just so cute and gave that small town feel, very intimate. they had little caricatures on napkins framed on the wall. just a very nice feel. the staff was so nice and our server was amazing! and the food, oh my goodness. i got the breakfast burrito smothered in green chili and it was outstanding. just perfect. i will be coming back, yay!

A must stop breakfast spot, especially if you love a good omelette. Seating is somewhat limited but the tables move pretty quick and the food is definitely worth the wait! I had a steak fajita omelette that was one of the best choices I've made recently. They really manage to get a good balance of ingredients throughout the whole omelette while delivering great flavor. I highly recommend also getting a biscuit while you're there as they're so soft, buttery, and flaky you'll be in for a delight. Good service overall, there wasn't a lot of interaction with our server but she was kind. A simple pleasant atmosphere with cool napkin art portraits.
