Such yummy empanadas! My friend and I got three different empanadas each and then cut them in half so we could sample 6 different empanadas. We tried and utterly enjoyed the beef, steak quesadilla, spicy chicken, chicken caprese, fresh mushrooms, and the spinach & cheese. We also tried the chimichurri sauce and green avocado sauce; both absolutely delicious. The shop has a small inside seating area and a couple outside tables if the weather is nice. As a whole the place is very clean. The gentleman running the place was very nice, helpful, and patient while we decided our plan.We will definitely eat here again.

Again, new to the area I'm exploring some different restaurants as I'm out doing errands. I was really hungry at a rather late lunch hour and after having driven by and noticed the empanadas restaurants several times; I made the decision to stop in. They had a couple made up in the case that in my opinion looked small and rather burned on the surface to my eye. I asked the gentleman if that was the normal size and he said yes. So, I figured I'd need two. It took perhaps 10 minutes to fix the two ham and cheese I ordered. When I opened the box they were burned /charred excessively. I took them to go and had a couple bites. I thought they were awful. The cheese had no flavor and there were tiny ground bits of ham in the melted cheese. I couldn't even taste the ham and I did not like the flavor of the cheese and the burnt crust. They were each over $5. This is my first one star review but I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Side note the parking is limited and the entrance is one way.

The flavor of the fillings are absolutely amazing but our delivery empanadas were suuuper burnt. The burnt exterior definitely made the taste less pleasing but overall we would return ... to hopefully perfectly cooked empanadas.

Empanadas are a great treat, how can you go wrong with a delicious flaky pastry filled with flavorful ingredients? I had seen Lazo's many times in the Cherry Hills shopping center and my timing was always off, but today it was dinner time and I was hungry. Their selection of fillings is robust and you will be able to find something that is a good match for you.The first one I tried was the Chicken Caprese based on the staff's recommendation. They were right on with this choice and the filling was delicious with chicken, cheese, tomatoes, and some herbs. The empanadas are cooked to order, so it comes out and it tantalizing hot. You want to bite into it so badly, but you have to ease yourself into it so you do not burn your mouth. My second choice was the spinach and cheese empanada which was good, but not quite as delicious as the chicken caprese. Lazo's is a great place to come and enjoy a meal. You can choose exactly how much food you want and order exactly what you want. The staff was kind, cheerful helpful, providing information about the different fillings. I look forward to coming back and trying the other options available.

Delicious empanadas that were enjoyed. They were a little greasy and harder to serve for catering than Maria Empanadas, but we will be back again. Delicious options for vegetarians as well.

Located near our favorite donut spot, We Knead Doughnuts, Lazo Empanadas definitely stands out for its flavors, but the prices might make you reconsider. They're undoubtedly among the best empanadas you'll find in Denver, but the sticker shock is hard to ignore--over $4.00 for what seems like $1.50 worth of empanadas (in my mind). While the cost may be a deterrent, the quality is hard to dispute. Each bite into these savory pastries reveals a well-balanced blend of fillings, encased in perfectly baked dough.. . crispy unlike the cake doughy kind from Maria. Good yummy varieties for some breakfast and lunch versions. The proximity to We Knead Doughnuts adds convenience for those craving a sweet and savory combo. Despite the cost, if you're willing to splurge a bit for top-notch empanadas, Lazo delivers quality that's hard to rival in the area. . . though I doubt i'll frequent often

Empanada dough is the foundation of this delicious house. We suspect lard is involved. The fillings are good, but the shell is outstanding. It is thin, light and flaky, not greasy, a vehicle that is the headliner at this show. The empanadas are made ahead of time, frozen and then brought back to life in 5-6 minutes. We wondered if they would be better if they were baked as they were made in real time. If they are, they are beyond spectacular in this scenario. We tried the steak quesadilla, BBQ chicken, chicken caprese, chorizo, egg & cheese, as well as the ham & cheese. Though all of the fillings were good, our favorite was the BBQ chicken, we think. The empanadas are not labelled to distinguish them in any way. We wondered why this product isn't sold in grocery stores at this point. Perhaps that is the long term strategy. They are pretty expensive per unit but the quality is impressive. We didn't try any sauces as there was an additional charge. We figured at this price point that the empanadas should stand on their own. Do you buy a sauce for your pot pie or a hot pocket? The dough here is significantly better than Maria Empanada. We are so glad we tried this place finally. It is a nice treat and definitely a splurge at the price point of $4.89 per pastry.
