Las Potrancas Mexican Restaurant

What a difference a year ( and personnel change) makes!Last September I swore I would never come here again after I had about the worst customer service from the former manager... and I held true to that promise up till last Friday night. There's nothing like having a neighborhood restaurant bar that you can go to that serves good food and drink with a smile. And I'm happy to say that Eddy and Pepe went above and beyond to dispel our bad feelings towards Los Potrancas!. My girlfriend and I shared a combination fajita plate and wash it down with a few margaritas. Excellent food and excellent Margaritas all the way around. I'm happy to say that we have regained our faith in Las Potrancas and will gladly return

Meh.... Bland overpriced but very nice staff! Went a couple times. Would not go out of my way.

My friends and I came to Las Potrancas for dinner. Despite the restaurant being completely packed, the service here was reasonably fast. Additionally, the portion sizes are more than adequate in satiating all but the biggest appetites. Despite the stellar service, however, the food wasn't all that great. Don't get me wrong; the food wasn't bad. It's just that I felt the food was a bit on the bland side for Mexican style cuisine. My desert wasn't any better; my fried ice cream was bland and missing a lot of sugary flavor. Overall, Las Potrancas is a good place to visit if you're in the area. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to try this place.

We eat here all the time! Always get the Nachos Rancheros. The chicken is always cooked well. Great chips & salsa, which is a must! Friendly staff & clean establishment.

This is a great Mexican restaurant hidden in the shopping center across the street from the post office on Coal Mine near Kipling. It's also next to the vinyl record store I like visiting.The restaurant is sectioned off into three areas. When you enter the left doors you are facing the host stand. To your right when standing at the host stand is a long hallway with tables. This area would be the most quiet dining (though the bar eating area was pretty quiet the night we went there.) In the center front of the place is a room with open / passthrough windows. It has a festive mural on its brightly colored walls. (see pictures) If you go to the south part of the restaurant you'll be in the bar. There are eating booths and tables in the bar also.In general, this place has a nice feel to it. The décor and atmosphere are welcoming, as are the wait staff. Our server Brayan was friendly and attentive. And I could see the other servers were having fun with their customers also.For dinner we got the chicken fajitas and the shredded beef burrito. The chicken was flavorful and a perfect mix of meat and vegetables. More than enough so we had leftovers. The shredded beef was tender and well seasoned. Every bite was a treat. If any part of the experience was disappointing, it was that the refried beans were like a cream soup. I could not see any beans. And it was nothing like some of the thick, pastes some restaurants serve. But because refried beans are just an after thought to the actual meal (like fries are to a hamburger), and I rarely eat most of the refried beans or rice on my plate, my disappointment was minor. But it's worth mentioning because I've seen pictures of other plates with refried beans and they looked a little more solid than the ones I got. If you're a refried beans fanatic, find another Mexican restaurant. But if you are the kind of Mexican restaurant fan who enjoys eating at a fun, welcoming, place with friendly, attentive servers and perfectly seasoned meats, then don't pass this place up!

Their 3 guacamole tostadas were $4 (40%) cheaper a couple years ago and the guacamole was PILED ON. I knew they'd have to raise the price, but they are no longer guacamole tostadas, they are Toscana shells with almost enough guacamole scraped onto them to stick the lettuce onto. Still have to pay $4 if you want 1-2oz salsa to go with it. Definitely not worth driving through the snow and leaving a tip sight unseen. Bums me out. I've been quite their cheerleader.

This restaurant was hopping! The margaritas were fabulous, service was great (ask for Eddie) guacamole was awesome (loved the chopped up jalapeños) all was most yummy. What's amazing is that I have avoided this place for 6 years, girlfriend invited me cuz she went her last week and said it was great - obviously between 6 years ago and now- management has changed!!

Love this place!! The manager Alex is above and beyond!!! The food and drinks are fantastic!! Danny the bartender is amazing!!!!! All the servers are great!!! And the food is always spot on. My husband says, the best beans in CO

Los Dos was too crowded, so we tried here. Understand why, service. Fabiola was terrible. 15 minutes to come take our order. Got waters and as we were asking about beers on tap, she walked away, ok guess we will skip the drinks. Food was ok, and bussing service was fine, but held hostage at the end. She brought us our tab and I took my wallet out in front of her, again she walked away. 15 mins my card sat there before another service member took it so we could leave. The places that are packed are busy for a reason, good food and SERVICE!

Food was amazing service was great love the Chiles rellenos and the steak was delicious
